Mining League Div. 2

Mt Ambrose 2 .v. Titans 9

Well beaten this afternoon by a strong and hungry Titans side. We knew it was going to be a tough fixture but after last weeks draw with Trispen and the battling performance we gave we thought that if we put in the same commitment we could give Titans a good game. We started slow and never had time to set ourselves and conceded 2 early unfortunate own goals which fired Titans up and put us on the back foot. Titans put pressure on us across the whole field and themselves played some good football with a lot of movement and some good one touch stuff. We, understandably, were frustrated and their were a few moments from both sides where late lunges and challenges went in but the young ref allowed play to go on as much as possible and actually controlled the game well despite constant goading and moaning from the Titans sideline which lets Titans down somewhat. Half time score was 6 -1. We competed better in the second half and fashioned some half chances and more football was played by both sides but Titans were patient and hit their further three goals in the latter stages of the game to run out comfortable winners. All the best to Titans for the season and maybe next time we meet you would of lost a few players from your sizable squad!

Mousehole 1 Trispen 4

Tough game made differcult by our sometimes relaxed attitude, but fair play to the homeside that battled well. But eventually we got the 3 pts on a pitch which made it differcult to knock the ball around as it was pretty long, but goals from Elliott Jolly x2, Rob Sharpe, and Rob Tolley settled it in the end! Well played to mousehole and good luck for the season, see u at our place.

good summing up of the game richie.we took our foot off the ball and gave you two goals, but fair credit to your boys they kept going to the end.i also thought the ref did an okay job today.should have maybe had a strong word earlier to stop some of the robust challenges from both sides. good luck for the rest of the season :c:

Madron Res have the same squad as last year with a few additions, not good enough to play mining 1, and as known Madron lost the entire first team from last season, which is why they are struggling

Thanks for the best wishes

Newlyn NA 0-8 Goonhavern

Good performance from us today, very solid throughout the whole team. Credit to the 2nd team players that help us out today and special mention to big Ken Tonkin (Director) for donning the gloves and keeping a clean sheet.

Goals from Dan Rolison x4, Joe Carlyon, Lewis Waters x2 and Martin Bennetts.

Well reffed, all the best to Newlyn.

Mining 3 Praze 4 - 2 Ludgvan (H/T 2 - 1)

Praze recorded their first home win of the season, but the game could have gone either way. Praze went 2 - 0 up after a brace from Martin Willey. Ludgvan pulled one goal back on the stroke of half-time and soon made it 2 - 2, ten minutes into the second half. The visitors had a chance to take the lead, but Praze keeper, Jake Douglas made a good save. Three second half substitutions from Praze made the difference with super sub Lee Jewell making the score 3 - 2 with just five minutes to go. Then Praze man of the match, Matt Woodward, made it 4 - 2 with almost the last kick of the game. Well Done lads - a good performance.

I have to say i hate playing Mount Ambrose their centre half if u would call him that & central midfielder no 7 are out only to hurt players some might say there just rubbish. Ref was only young and did his best would be no game without him,P.s. halftime it was 5-1 and we should of scored 25 no lie only dissapointment was letting them score 2. No probs with Mount Ambrose lads bar two who perhaps should hang there boots up and let there subs who were much better take their place Anyway 9-2 three points no injuries bar 400 bruises JOB DONE

St Buryan Res 1 Rosudgeon Res 2

Bloody good battle here,Rosudgeon got the 3pts but really had to fight for them against a very strong Buryan side. All the goals came in the 1st half with Rosudgeon striking first through a great fininsh from Chesney,Buryan hit back through a great strike from the edge of the box after we failed to clear a corner.Tanz hit the winner with a fine low strike in the bottom corner, after some fine work out on the left wing. Both had chances but the scoreline remained the same and the 3pts were Rosudgeons.

Every player was on there game today and had to be too.It was a fantastic performance from us in battling and spirit. And the lads deserve it .

All the best to Buryan great hosts and very good bunch at that club, look forward to another tough game at ours later in the season.

As for Rosudgeon,at home to Newquay next week and we just got to keep up the work.

PURPLE ARMY.

id say mining 3 is very competive this year. the league title could be between 5 or 6 differant teams come end of season.

Surely the people who run the mining league need to step in now to investigate why a club can play their best players in a 2nd team and get a good result whilst their 1st team(supposedly their best players???)are getting battered out of sight week in and week out??In all the years that i have been involved in local football the 1st team of any club has always taken priority,im sure players would rather perform in mining one than beat teams their too good for in mining three, that doesnt prove anything. :SM_carton:

fair point, i cant understand a club that would want to be run like that with the leagues merging they would be playing better football next year if they gave divison 1 a blast this year

As stated in previous posts we have lost our entire first team. We played out best side down at Halsetown and still got thrashed 10-0, if you look at the team photos from last year, the first team have 2 players still at the club, and the reserves still have everyone bar 1 or 2 going, but have had 1 or 2 coming in.

So those people thinking we have an unbeatable, stronger second team we dont, we have a small squad who have been playing together for a couple of seasons with older heads enjoying there football with some youngsters.

We are on the look for players as we are low on numbers, fingers crossed we may have a couple more players come in by the end of the week.

Illogan 5 - 0 Halestown

Gareth Pitt 2, Luke Healan 1, Ryan Trelor 1 and Mark Miller 1.

1st half was quite even with the only difference really that we had 3 chances that we put away and they had 2 or 3 chances that they missed or Alan Buckley (MOTM) did well to stop. 2nd half we were far more in control and Halestown ran out of steam.

No 8 (Rusty I think?)for Halestown in the back had a great game and saved them a number of times.

All the best to Halestown and thanks for bringing a man mountain to play against our shortest player Wardy, top match up ha ha.

You keep saying that the whole first team left this year. Did they all give up? Where did they go? Why? Playing for another team? Others teams? What are their names?

Goonhavern 3rds (is it) 4 Newlyn NA Res. 0

In my opinion, IF half of our team had not arrived 2 minutes before kick-off, IF they had not played like they had turned up 2 minutes before kick-off in the first 20 minutes, IF Goonhavern hadn't taken advantage of our bad start and gone 3 nil up, IF we had got a penalty in the first half, IF the ref had disallowed the 4th goal at the start of the second half for off-side, IF we had scored instead of hitting the bar midway through the half, and IF Newlyn had got the throw-in that should have been ours but was given to the home team, it could have been a different story.

Best team won on the day. Probably the best team we have faced this year so far. No complaints, but we were disappointed. We lost, we should be disappointed. We can play better than that, and we will.

They have left to join different clubs and all the players that have left have their reasons for leaving and there is no need to put it on here. I personally would like to wish them good luck for this season!!!

Who really cares, we all know whats happened, let them get on with it, but the second team we played was not the team we played last season!!
