Mark Picken Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 As FIFI has already said we beat Shortlanesend 7 - 4 in what can only be described as an incident-packed game. SLE took the lead with a well taken goal only for Chris Page to poke home an equaliser from a wayward Andrew Jenkin shot. SLE then took the lead again with a very well worked free kick, but Chris Page pulled us level with an effort the looped over the keepers head. From the sidelines it looked like it was meant to be a cross! SLE then went 3-2 up after we'd failed to clear a free kick. HT MPAD 2 v SLE 3 Chris Page then got his hat-trick with a backward header from a long throw, before grabbing his fourth and putting us in front for the first time with a well taken shot. But back came SLE to draw level - 4-4. SLE's centre back, and best player, Lee Hall was sent off for two yellows. Mike Cudlipp then grabbed our fifth racing clear after the SLE defence had stopped and were appealing for a free kick. Pete Brewer got the sixth after a good one-two with Cudlipp, before Cudlipp scored our seventh with a scuffed shot that seemed to fool the away keeper There were two more yellows for SLE and one for us as the game wore on and even a bit of a melee involving a number of players! SLE really bought the game to us this after time after the league match two weeks ago and credit must go to Donovan for building a team that just keep going, which to be honest is a bit of a pain!

Mark Picken Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I think that should be us rather than Camborne Park in the draw for the next round!
oldasitgets Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I think that should be us rather than Camborne Park in the draw for the next round! ???? Me, make a mistake? surely not.
B Manning Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Several yellow cards , players being sent off a melee involving a number of players. it sounds like a saturday game to me. Tongue is in cheek by the way.
oldasitgets Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Several yellow cards , players being sent off a melee involving a number of players. it sounds like a saturday game to me. Tongue is in cheek by the way. It is quite remarkable BUT it's going to happen. The game's still played with a passion - even though it's only Sunday football (T I C also.) Important to me that it is remarkable and very unusual. May it remain so.
