Saltash United 3 Bere Alston United 0

They had 3 first teamers in, we had 5 missing from Saturday and one player fail to turn up causing me to play a CF at CD (who played quite well considering).

Saltash were by far the better side on the night and fully deserved their win...three seasons in a row now we've gone there with a weakened side and been soundly beaten.

Just goes to show the difference between the top clubs in this league and the rest (especially in midweek).

Saltash can draught in three Peninsula Premier players CD/CM/LW and we struggle when we have a few missing such is the nature of the two clubs and the players at their/our disposal...(that's why I dislike midweek games in the ECPL)

On top of that (but no excuse for our performance or the result) the ref had an absolute shocker. Only one bad foul in the game, yet we end up with four bookings and Saltash didn't have any..mmmmm??

Bere player tight to the line gets shoved in the back causing him to knock the ball into touch...either that's a free kick to us or a Saltash throw....ref gives US a throw.

Bere player makes a tackle and ball richocets of Saltash player...Ref gives a Bere throw....Saltash (Peninsula) player complains to the ref...Bere player (who made the tackle) gets booked...ref changes his mind and gives a free kick to Saltash.

Ball played into Bere penalty area and is cleared for a Saltash throw...ref notices Bere player has got a knock in the face (but he doesn't receive treatment, so doesn't go off)...ref picks up the ball and rolls it back to our keeper and waves play on ????????

Just a few of some bizzare decisions made during the 90 minutes.

Like I say didn't effect the result but very frustrating non the less.

Fully agree with you KT.

The ref was shocking. On one foul which was 50/50 he told your player off but had to

ask who the Saltash Player was that was also involved, the crowd told him number 14. The Saltash fans also made

comment about the poor ref. Stiil he did have a lot to say to the Saltash management team before

the game, must of known them very well. Bere Alston did well with the players they had.

Agree with Andy and Coach that the ref had a shocker and clearly was influenced by Saltash.

Have to say though Coach that it works when ECPL do not have games and field ECPL players to help Duchy sides..........part and parcel of football.

Everyone has experienced this and will continue to do so

Coach KT......glad you acknowledged Saltash were the better team. However having watched the game last night feel I need to clear up and comment on some of the points you raised.

3 first teamers in....2 of those Bouchy & Chuwen both played for the reserves on Saturday away at Probus as they haven't started a first team game for about 6 weeks and therefore took the opportunity to play 180 minutes in the space of 5 days and unlike your comment weren't drafted in! :SM_carton_y:

Sargey the other first teamer likewise hasn't had many minutes lately as he hasn't started a game for 3 weeks.

There will be times this season when like in pre-season friendlies the first team will be short of players and the likes of Carl Powell-Thomas & Luke Doddridge who both played well last night will be called up into the first team.

In my opinion this is exactly how a football club should operate!

In terms of your comment about the referee, I have to agree with you he wasn't the best and likewise there wasn't any bad challenges however Saltash did have a player booked which was Sargey after he questioned a decision by the referee in a polite manner nothing aggressive and was booked!

Also Saltash could have had a penalty in the 1st half when the BA keeper spilled the ball and the striker Westy picked up and in my opinion was pulled down however he did not give it!

Andy B as stated above the ref was poor but how you can say was influenced by Saltash Manager is beyond me.

Stewart is right other clubs in the ECPL utilise players between 1st & 2nd teams and as stated previously this in my opinion is how clubs should operate.

Torresraul......as usual a ridiculous comment. :SM_carton: :SM_carton:

Big Easy you say that I said "Andy B as stated above the ref was poor but how you can say was influenced by Saltash Manager is beyond me"

If you read it again then you will notice I said "Management" which includes not just ONE person but a few. This happened before the start of play. How do I know, well I arrived at the ground at 7pm, half an hour before kick off.

It just goes to show if you have a big club with big names refs bottle it like he did last nite he was shocking its hard enough playing teams who can call on first teamers but havin the ref with them as well becomes very hard.I heard hatchy is going round for roast on sunday with godfather to say thanks
