Darin Morse Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Foxhole 1 Totnes 2 Saturday 25th September 2010 With the breeze at their backs, Foxhole quickly took the initiative and opened their account inside eight minutes when, following a scramble, Rowe's volley from ten yards was deflected past Blanco. Stung into action, the visitors almost hit back immediately, only a great challenge from Laughton preventing Tucker from equalising, before Ryan Holland was called into action to palm away Kneebone's close range effort. Tucker was to squander Totnes' only other chance of the half, firing wide when well-placed, but generally it was a question of home pressure, with the flying Blanco twice denying Rundle, once after a fine low cross from Bird, while the powerful Comyn was being well marshalled by Ralph. Unfortunately, the Foxes were unable to maintain their momentum after the break, particularly following a stoppage lasting almost half an hour while an ambulance was called to attend to Tucker, who had fallen awkwardly. Within moments of the restart, Bird was required to head away from a rejuvenated Comyn, who then released Hare for a run on goal but the substitute was too slow to react. Kempthorne was unlucky to see a drive fly over before Rundle was controversially denied a goal when the referee ruled his effort from inside the six-yard box had not crossed the line. Capitalising on their good fortune, and always looking dangerous on the break, Totnes' leveller with a quarter of an hour remaining came as no great surprse, a long ball out of defence finding the speedy Scerri to finish with aplomb. Burt and Heath were both cautioned for fouls on Laughton and Tregidgo respectively, before Hare's flick found Scerri, but the outside-left's free header was poorly directed. However, centre-half Hurrell soon showed him how to do it, powerfully nodding past Holland and off the underside of the bar from Bonner's free-kick with four minutes left, leaving Foxhole insufficient time to force the extra half-hour that their disappointing second-half performance had barely warranted. Foxhole (3-5-2): Ryan Holland; Adam Holland, Lee Whetter, Bradley Ralph; CJ Bird, Scott Laughton, Brandon Tregidgo (sub. Lee Hazeldine), Kyle Friendship, Michael Kempthorne; Mark Rowe, Aydan Rundle.
