In the "Question for referees" thread "Gillo10" gives a precise, succinct and accurate summary of refs' experiences on a Sunday. The marks from the referees confirm that. Marks out of 10. Fantastic!

Team Average Marks

1 Wendron 10.00

2 M/Pad United 9.67

3 Penzance Astro Park 9.67

4 Crowntown with Crowan 9.50

5 Culdrose Star 9.50

6 Shortlanesend 9.50

7 Booters 9.33

8 Camborne Park 9.00

9 Malabar United 9.00

10 St Georges 9.00

11 Truro G.W.R.S.A. 9.00

12 West Cornwall 9.00

To see how good it is - see what the ref gets for his 9 marks. (You should see the 10)

9 Marks The referee will feel that all was virtually perfect. The administration details were completed correctly.(See 10 marks criteria) There may be some unnecessary appealing and some very minor questioning of decisions. It may be possible to award 9 marks if there is a single example of unsporting behaviour that is dealt with promptly and firmly by the team officials.

It's only a start, but what a start.

So there's 12 teams??? there's a darn sight more playing on a Saturday!!

Bill, why do you think that the other leagues haven't taken on your initiative???

it would get laughed out of the FA's around the country! what you have achieved

with the Sunday league is to be commended! but that is what it is... the Sunday league!

Great for kids football, but sorry, will never work at Senior Level!

Not sure the significance of quantity. Why would more teams make a difference?

"kids football"????? Hardly, It is an adult league. I go to my games using my bus pass.

Given that it's worked well in our little league, (actually there are more teams, but not all have a mark yet) I have no idea why other leagues won't give it a try. I suspect that it scares some of the "big teams". Possibly they believe that they rely on manipulating referees for some of their success and so wouldn't want to risk changing.

I fear that it's a common theme in football. The big Premiership teams have the clout to dictate F.A. policy. That's why change doesn't happen easily. The game could be cleaned up overnight if behaviour were linked to points. That'll never happen, for the same reason that the senior leagues in Cornwall won't entertain our initiative - fear.

Anyway, I'm very proud of what goes on at Sunday morning games and make no excuse for bragging about it.
