Mark Picken Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Change in ref for MPAD UTD's game v Shortlanesend. Lee Mitchell is out so Nigel Jewel is standing in.
oldasitgets Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Result Div 1 Culdrose Star 1 Booters 5 The game started evenly with both sides having chances. Star took the lead after 10 minutes from a corner - headed in unchallenged at the far post. After that star failed to provide much of a threat to Booters' goal. Booters equalised with a great individual goal, dribbling in along the goal line from the edge of the box, leaving two defenders for dead, before crashing it past the keeper from a close-range, narrow angle. A free kick from the edge of the box, elegantly stroked into the far corner, left the keeper rooted. 1- 2 half time. After that there was only going to be one winner. Jamie Moonie did enough to win a penalty at 3-1, but that slim chance of getting back into the game was blazed high over the bar. Final; score 1 - 5, probably a fair reflection. Mike Carter reffed with no problems. Excellent sporting approach from both sides. Probably another couple of 10s from Porky.

Soccer Follower Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 MPad Utd 9 Shortlanesend 3 h/t 8-0 The home team took full advantage of some sloppy defending by the visitors in the first half. A ninth goal at the start of the second half seemed to wake Shortlanesend and they went on to give a far better performance.Hope Donovan's head injury is not too serious.

Mark Picken Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 MPad Utd 9 Shortlanesend 3 h/t 8-0 The home team took full advantage of some sloppy defending by the visitors in the first half. A ninth goal at the start of the second half seemed to wake Shortlanesend and they went on to give a far better performance.Hope Donovan's head injury is not too serious. There was some sloppy defending and we did take full advantage, but I have to say that the first half was one of the best performances I think we've had as a team. We seemed to win every tackle, header and second ball, while our passing and movement caused SLE lots of problems. The fact that we only had or or two goal kicks, they had no shots or corners in the first half also backs how much we dominated the match to that point. 8 - 0 up at half time with the 9th coming shortly after the restart we switched off a bit, and I was disappointed we gave away three poor goals, especially after we'd gone 220 minutes since we last conceded, It was definitely more of a contest in the second half and overall I was extremely pleased with the performance. Goals from Brett Southeard (4), Mike Cudlipp (3) and Ashley Farrow (2). Thanks to Nigel for filling in at late notice after Lee Mitchell had to pull out of the game. Also, hope Donovan's head is okay.

jobysdad Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Astropark 3 Camborne Park 0 Quality Sunday league entertainment at the leisure centre today. Sticking to our traditional preparation of getting absolutely hammered the night before a game Astro started slowly and Park had most of the early chances, clipping the top of the bar and forcing some good saves from Anger. We started to come back into it and had several chances well saved by their keeper, until unfortunately he made his first mistake, spilling a low corner into the net. 1-0 at half-time. Second half we had a lot of possession and our defence coped really well with most of what Park threw at us and when they did get past the last man Anger stood firm in nets. We then got a second from what looked suspiciously like a cross from Corey . With about 20 minutes left Park got a penalty for handball (justified) and it looked like things were going to get a bit jittery, but Anger pulled off another great stop to preserve our 2-goal lead. A killer third from Luke Waller 5 minutes before the end sealed a well-earned win against a good Park side who never stopped battling. The game was really well contested and well reffed by Wynroe. Cheers to him and the boys from Park who are a top bunch. See you at yours later in the season. Astro scorers: Corey Howes Luke Waller Own goal Man of the match - Anger. Saved a pen, caught everything and was quick off his line. Finally getting the hang of this keeping lark after 10 years :clapper:
