Just had a text to say Threemilestone v Storm is off. Storm unable to raise a side.

Our reserves were also fixtured for Storm reserves today, so no games for the Stones. :(

Also seen on another thread Sennen v Four Lanes off, Four Lanes unable to raise a side.

As they now both play at clijah, maybe both sets of players could pool together to make 1 good side?

this will become a regular occurence, this season,as it seems cornish football at junior level is in demise with the amount of games that will be called off because of so called cant raise a team issue's....

Norry.. When you say "so called" are you suggesting that people are not telling the truth. I know both clubs are actually having difficulty at present.

I know that Storm attempted to raise a side because they asked me to play as late as last night. Perhaps an earlier comment in this thread could be a good idea, and one of these clubs could come back stronger than anticipated this season?

no what i am implying is that clubs who start with player problem's at the beginning of the season, will generally have these through the season...but again a pile up of fixtures will insue if not sorted out..storm i know have problems, and so will other sides, but the whole issue of can't raise a team, will be an ongoing problem.

Wendron 1 Cornish New Boys 1

Thankfully the home side's striker (No 14) had an off day in front of goal enabling New Boys to come away with a point.

Pretty competitive battle in midfield from two sides who will probably be competing for top 5 come the end of the season ^_^

Trispen-6 (Jolly x2, Sharpe x3 Justin x1) Halsetown-0

Another win for Trispen to keep there unbeaten start to the season going against a 10 man squad of halsetown (who to be fair to them turned up with 10 and put up a resiliant performance) The game was only a couple of minutes old when Elliott Jolly nipped in to score with a tidy finish from a Stu Williams through ball, but to be fair the visitors made it differcult and had chances themselves to nick a goal. But just before half time Elliott Jolly stole in again to finish off a great flick from Sharpe with yet another neat finish.

The 2nd half kicked off and we knew we had to up it and thats exactly what we did with Sharpe getting a quick two goals which were assisted but Jolly, all of a sudden we were in control and relaxed a little too much as a halsetown defender let fly with a great shot from fully 35 yds and to be fair to the new trispen no.1 got back and some how pulled off a top draw save tipping the shot onto the crossbar and away from danger. This was a little wake up call, so we upped it again and got a couple more goals from Sharpe to complete a well taken hat-trick and new signing Justin ??? (apologies as i can't remember his sir name!!) who scored a peach in off the post, This though coming after the visitors went down to 9 men after an injury to another player, with that the game slowly came to an end.

But i would just like to heap praise on a great bunch of lads from halsetown who travelled along way to get this game on, they turned up with 10 and put up a great battle and made it very differcult, there are soo many cancellations nowadays and i think its great to see when a team go to this much trouble to complete a fixture, so WELL PLAYED Halsetown!! But 3 pts are 3 pts so well done Trispen boys and good to see the unbeaten run going, a week off now but we return with a very tough game gainst Illogan in two weeks!!

Mining League Div. 2

West Cornwall 6 .v. Mt Ambrose 2

Played on Cornwall College Astro pitch.

Disappointing to lose again after a promising performance, the final score line a bit flattering to West Cornwall. First 15 - 20 minutes we had some great play in and around the West Cornwall box but didn't make this pressure pay. Jason Dyer, Jordan Whalley, Dan Munday, Richard Ward and Tom Biddle all worked well to create openings and half chances. We had to be aware of the very quick counter attack that West Cornwall possess but after our positive start found ourselves 1 down when Ashley Kemp beat the offside to finish. This gave West Cornwall confidence and they managed to create a couple of chances with some wicked crosses into the box but thankfully not convert them. We gave away a free kick just outside the area and a good ball in was finished by Ryan Hooper's head. Two nil at half time but our play gave us belief that there was still something in the game for us. This was exactly the case as we came out and pulled two goals back! Steve Hick collecting the ball, after their 'keeper kicked from wide right of his box, managed to get enough on it to hit the open net. Good work from Richard Ward and Jordan Whalley then saw Tom Biddle slide in bravely to score. The next goal was going to be the big one and West Cornwall hit us on the break and added their 3rd and all too quickly added their 4th to end the game as a contest. Goals 5 and 6 were added again from good break away play as West Cornwall finished strong but by this point there wasn't a lot left in the tank for us. Thank you for the kind remarks about our lad who had the split head. The latest I have is that Richard Ward was off to hospital to get it checked out but I agree it did look quite a nasty cut.

All the best to all involved with West Cornwall FC for the season.

Well done Goonhavern, but come on, can anyone be that bad to lose by 29-0?

Madron Res 1-1 Goonhavern Res

It was a good game to watch as both teams battled for 90 minutes. Madron gifted the lead by a goalkeeping mistake (by myself, goonhavern were very organised and hard to break down! Madron had a bare 11 and and started the 2nd half well and drew level by a headed goal from dan bower. Both teams had there chances to win the game and I made a couple of good saves and our strikers had an off day infront of goal. I would to thank goonhavern for making it a good game to play in!!

Good natured game which Newlyn won with some ease aginst inexperienced opposition. Trevenson never gave up & were unlucky not to get a consulation goal towards end. Well refed by Lenny Stevens.

Rosudgeon Res 5 St Ives Mariners 1.

Good game today played in very good spirit by both sides and well reffed.Rosudgeon started well and found ourselves two up in the first 20mins,but from there took our foot off a little and kept a battling Mariners in it.

H/T 2.0

Second half and Mariners got back in it with an own goal. That seemed to wake us up and then we started to knock the ball around well, playing some good football. The goals kept coming and i don't think i'm being unfair in saying it could have been alot more than 5.But the Mariners keeper made some great saves and they never gave in till the final whistle.

Good luck to S.I.Mariners great bunch of lads and i hope things settle down for them.

As for Rosudgeon another good result,we now look forward to a big game with Cornish new boys next.

Well done fella's,PURPLE ARMY.

Mining 1 . Illogan 4 Gwinear 2 .

Good game of football. Both teams missing a few Gwin lead for much of the 1st half , Dan Bagshaw being rewarded for his hard work early on. Illogan who used the width very well all afternoon scored 2 headers to claim a 2 - 1 half time lead. Second half was as even as the 1st although Illogan had the edge and the fourth goal was always likely to decide the contest and it was Illogan that got it with another great delivery and header. The young Gwinear team never dropped their heads and having asked them all to stand up and be counted today I think Illogan would agree the boys did and quickly pulled us back to 3-2 , Ryan Turner cool as ever from the spot. We pushed till the final whistle for the equaliser where upon Illogan claimed their 4th with the last kick of the game. Illogans captain Gee i think? was their motm and anyone of Gwins spine could of been ours Dee saved one after another in the second half Halliday and Paradise were superb as was Turner and Bagshaw, Ryan Turner the Birthday boy 100% record from the spot pinched it. The Ref had a fantastic game best I've seen this season Colin Bennetts I think 10/10 performance. Good luck Illogan enjoyed the game if not the result!

Haven't both these teams already merged in recent seasons they could become " Stormy Praze Spice Lanes "

Or all of us could merge to take on Illogan. :drink:

Illogan 4 - 2 Gwinear

Joseph Curnow (Curly) 2, Gareth Pitt (me) 2!!!!

Agree with Gwinearno.10, a fair summing up. We were a litte all over the place early doors playing a setup we don't normally play but it was forced on us because 5 regualr starters were out and Gwinear took full advantage giving us quite a run around with the 2 wide lads looking good when they had space to run into and got the opener as rewards.

We then reverted to the normal system and slotted people in where we could Jason Buckly having a good game at left back. Once we changed we hit 2 quick goals from Curly to settle down and stopped gwinear having as much space.

2nd half we always looked dangerous and had several more chances but the keeper made some great saves. The pen for a handball against us was harsh but one of those you think is harsh if against you but you would be jumping if you didnt get it for you.

Ref was very good and Gwinears linesman was very fair as well which is rare these days, all the best to Gwinear for the season.

see the madron res vs goonhavern res game was a bit closer than the game betwenn the two 1st teams!!

This is why i fell out of love with local football either goonhavern have got lionel messi playing for them and there the greatest side cornwall has ever seen or madron are so crap and are in the wrong league, its completely strange since they won mining league two last season???

its completely strange

Perhaps someone from the two teams involved can enlighten us all as to why the scoreline was so huge!

Madron only kept 2 players from last season and with most of are new players are only 16 and making a step up to the 1st team, its been a struggle to field a strong team and yesterday they on had 10 players and 1 of them was the manager. I was playing for our 2nd team and was shocked about the score line.

I play for goonhavern res and when we got back to our local we also couldn't believe the score, then it clicked and was also confirmed by somebody else in pub from madron, and although it was a good game between us and madron "2nds", and i agree with what their keeper said in his report, for a "1st" team to lose by this amount and only have 10 men has to draw some attention, dont give a toss bout politics in teams ,1st team should surely have 11??we do feel sorry for the "1st" team with the score they had to suffer and if they did win mining 2 last season then would like to know how???,altho congrats to our 1st team for the win, goal difference will rock!! then with the two score lines from both games, well, all of you that read this forum will draw your own conclusions as to what went on saturday as we have ours, and to be honest i think its unfair but dont really give a shit, we held our own against what ever teamed we played?? good luck to madron as a club.

watched redruth fourlanes the other night for 15 minutes in div 1 gareth and it was painful now losing out to madron last season is deeply disheartening we would serve div 1 proudly, have to say 5,6 teams in div 2 much stronger than div1 teams aside the top 5,6. Wont happen but if madron are gonna go out storm struggling and fourlanes out we would gladly step up now and take on their positions,at this early stage our target of 8th is well within reach.

Olympos Xylofagou's striker, Panagiotis Pontikos, banged in 16 goals against SEK Ayios Athanasios FC at the weekend," writes Tinashe Shoko. "Surely this is a record?"

Our friends at the Guinness Book of Records can confirm that Pontikos's feat is indeed a record, Tinashe, although one other man has equalled his heroics. Step forward, Stephan Stanis, who also scored 16 goals for his side Racing Club in a French Cup match against Aubry Asturies in December 1942.

In international football, the record for the number of goals scored by a single player in one match is held by Australian Archie Thompson, who scored 13 goals for the Socceroos in their 31-0 victory over American Samoa. In England, Luton Town's Joe Payne, who started life on the wing and was playing up front for the first time for the Hatters, holds the record for the most goals scored in a league game by an individual player. Payne scored 10 goals in the Hatters' 12-0 victory over Bristol Rovers on Easter Monday in 1936.

These feats are nothing compared to the biggest margin of victory in club football, though. Madagascan side, Stade Olympique de L'Emyrne, put the ball in their own net 149 times in a league match against champions, Adema, in protest at a refereeing decision earlier in the match. "There have been a couple of quirky games where teams have deliberately let in as many as possible," admits the Football Association's historian, David Barber. "I can also vaguely remember reading about a Sunday league game in Nottinghamshire in which a team deliberately let the opposition score in protest, and they lost 50-2."

Truely massive scoreline.... what was the score at half time then?

I've been informed by a friend that a couple of years ago in an under 15 or 16s game.. St Tudy beat St Agnes Bolsters 40-0, and the ref stopped it at 78 mins . Definetly harsh on the boys, but thats the main thing at least they actually turned up, and didnt just give the opposition a walkover result.

So yeah, you say an embarrasement to the league ,well its not really yeah its a pretty weird and unusual result! but credit to the lads who turned up for them, in this case Madron, but thats the point in football some games are going to be like that if the other team is well and truely stronger. good luck to both teams !

Having played for Goonhavern in the game, it got silly to be honest almost to the point where we would score and then straight from the kick off we would nick it off them and go straight up the other end and score, but our players were ruthless and although I got bored and came off the team kept there shape and positions and carried on going at them. As for Madron being an embarrasment, at least they turned up, how many other teams would have travelled 45mins with 10 knowing they were going to get beat, and I for one wish Madron the best and hope they can get a few players in and get more competitive.

And it was 14-0 at halftime.

Many moons ago, in the Amor Shield, on a bleak, windy Saturday afternoon at the top of the cliffs above the Minack Theatre in Porthcurnow, the Exiles beat Madron 28-nil. I scored 2 of them, can't remeber the other scorers! Funny thing was, Madron kicked off both halves (I don't think anyone realised it was our kick-off second half, we were all used to seeing Madron take them). I seem to recall Lofty, a rather large gentleman playing at the back for Madron that day, not getting things off too well for them by injuring his own goalkeeper.

Good days....
