Penzance 1-0 Perranwell

Both sides allowed each other to play football so it was a good game to watch, but as far as goal chances were concerned they were thin on the ground. It was end to end with Penzance scoring in the first half and during the second Perranwell came at the Magpies at 100mph, and on reflection would probably think a draw would be a fairer result.

The game was end to end during the first half with both defences foiling every break. The Combo’s top scorer Dominic Pullen, with 15 goals from 5 games, was closely marked all game by James Street and Ben Williams. Penzance show first when they break right, knock the ball cross goal but the shot at the back post goes high.

Perranwell have a corner on their right. The ball comes over giving a free header in the centre of the box which goes just past the back post.

On 23min Penzance get the games only score through Lewis Caspall, his first for the club. Penzance break through the middle, cross left to Caspall who beats his marker, runs into the box and knocks the ball low under the diving keeper.

The game really opens up with both teams showing great passing moves but everything is snuffed out by the defences.

There is even less goalmouth action in the second half with Perranwell forcing Penzance to hang on in the last 25mins as they came at them for the equaliser.

Penzance have a free kick on the right. The ball is fired across goal but beats all the runners coming in.

Perranwell break right, shoot but Penzance’s keeper Ryan Gendall grabs it out of the air. They have a corner on the right and knock the ball over long. A shot comes in but goes over the bar. Perranwell up their tempo forcing Penzance to play deeper and deeper.

The Magpies have the last couple of chances, on the break. A run down the right followed by a knock in sees the ball run along the line and Ryan Holland fires into the keepers arms.
