Newlyn 3 Halsetown 1

Great performance from Newlyn after Saturday's shambolic defeat. Halsetown started much brighter, with the sun a real problem for Newlyn defence and had two cleared off the line from corners. After that we started to get into the game more and scored two brilliantly taken goals from Adam Strowger & Andrew Palmer. We started the second half very brightly and could of scored more, until a great run from Callum Mitchell resulted in a Halsetown own goal. Halsetown did get one back with 15 mins or so to go but we held on for a deserved win in the end.

A great all round team performance today, especially as our first four games of the season have been with 3 of our midfielders making up the back four! Two stand out performances from Callum Mitchell & Hamish Young, but well done everyone...

Cheers to Halsetown too, good team and good bunch of players... And well refereed by ????

To be fair ben it was only 18 months ago that titans were in the same position And to say woeful is a bit harsh, i have ended up on the wrong side of a result at Chace to many times over the years as player and manager they will come again ben mark my words,as for the league played 3 won 3 hope it can continue.

Alright alright, i came up through chacewater from under 15 and played there for 10 years, nobody wants chacewater to do well more than i, most of there players are my family, as you know marksy, good bunch of boys, i retract my previous statement, the lads done there best against a much stronger side, roll on saturday, another 3 points

In my opinion a cracking game and advert for division 2 football. Both sides playing some good flowing football, plenty of heart, battling and banter. The only thing that marred the encounter was a few off the ball incidents that fired the testosterone levels! We talked before the match about putting in a performance after Saturday's disappointing show and certainly felt that it was a massive improvement. The game was bogged down in midfield for long periods and both sides were concentrating enough to snuff out each others attacks. We created a few chances and Illogan had an effort cleared off the goal line by Craig Barnard. We found ourselves 1 - 0 down at half time following a headed flick on from Steve Abbot-Smith that allowed Russ Hargreaves to bear down on goal to score. We appealed for off side and Russ himself admitted later in the game that he felt he was off.

Both sides came out second half and continued the same level of committment but the game turned on a couple of crucial moments. Richard Ward was put through well after great play from Tom Biddle and Jason Dyer but unfortunately fired wide, whilst at the other end Stu Rule worked some space for himself to shoot into the far corner. Tom Biddle was then involved in a frentic goal mouth scramble which somehow didn't end up in the net and then at the other end, from a throw in, a mix up between Richard Ward and Callum Salmon saw the ball nestled in the back of our net which settled the match.

Ref was Peter Grenfell. Our lads had mixed views on his performance, but I personally thought he was fair.

A fair report on the game, but it would have been so different if we could have converted early chances. I think a bit of frustration crept in when it didn't look like we were ever going to score. Easy to make excuses, but stuck in traffic and turning up late, losing our skipper in the warm-up and then a central defender in the 1st half didn't help us. You have some quick lads up front who will cause teams problems.

Newlyn, you truly are our bogey team away from home.

PS Please invest in a couple more footballs
