matchu78 Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 We are back from the brink just about, after much soul searching and commitment from individuals we have managed to salvage the club and get a side together for this season, we have had to completely rebuild the club from scratch having only had 4 players signed on at the start of the season and no officials or even a pitch to play from as we could no longer afford where we were. We will now be playing at Clijah croft and drinking back at Spice of Life and are committed to having a fantastic and enjoyable club atmosphere both on the pitch and off it, something which has been missing at our club for the last few years. I have decided to return because of these reasons and I am looking forward to having a bit of fun this year as after all isn't that what its all about we are still looking for a manager but seeing as I'm suspended I'll be running the side and hopefully we will get someone full time by the end of the month. At the moment there is no second team and unless someone wants to take it on we will be resigning our reserve team this week. I apologise to all the sides who have lost games and had vacant saturdays because of us but believe me we were nearly gone completely, however now we are confident we will have a competitive side and lay the foundations to keep the club gong for years to come. thanks and I look forward to seeing you back at spice.. Matt
Gorgie Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Welcome back Matt and best of luck ;)
Guest Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Good work on keeping a squad. Dont worry about the Boo boys slating you for not having a squad.. They'd understand if they were in the same position. Good luck for the season ahead
El Nino 9 Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 good work matt best of luck for the season
Jimbo Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Matt all the very best to you and Storm from all at Newquay
Fatso Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 I think there will be a manager out there somewhere that wants to have a go at Mining 1, but moreso will fancy getting into the top division of the new league set up. Perhaps now that the club is based in Redruth you might find some players with a bit more ambition, as well as some people that work behind the scenes. With the new league set up in mind there may be some falmouth-based players that want to join a team that can push for next years top division, seeing that they will be travelling further next season anyway. The fact that the pitch will be taken care of, as well as the building, has to be a big plus as there is considerably less work involved in maintaining the club now. I will help out where I can, but am unable to commit to anything. I can do some coaching once you get training started, but only if the players are actually interested in doing some. Fair play to you mate, without you it appears that the club would have folded.
matchu78 Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 Matt all the very best to you and Storm from all at Newquay Jim thanks a lot really enjoyed Newquay and I think as you know if things had been different I would have loved the opportunity you guys offered me, but there are things I need to take care of first. I would love to come training still if welcome even just to help coach and hey if you ever fancy that player manager job!!! Now in all seriously I hope you achieve what you deserve this year and get promoted, sad to see the combo side where they are but I'm sure they will pull it around as they have a great squad if used correctly. And Dave/fatso without my brother, Joe from spice and more importantly Jason Penna I would have been quite happy where I was and I would love to have the chance in a couple of years time that I had this year, but I just get the feeling that the fun times are back at storm we always had a special atmosphere and I think that will be back..
stevieb Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 good luck for the rest of season very difficult to keep clubs going. iknow from previous experience how hard it is to keep ateam going. as withall clubs hopefully you can get enough help and support to have a good and succesful future

Martin Eddy Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 MATT what is the latest with your reserves have you managed to get a side or no.martin eddy TITANSfc
matchu78 Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 Our reserve side is no more martin. Letter has been sent to the league confirming this, we will have a good side come october for our firsts but until then it will be painful.
Martin Eddy Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 best of luck mate it's bad enough running one team
The General Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Well done Storm for not folding. From experience it is tough to run a club and it is easy to give in. The trick is as always to work with what you have. No-one can guarantee success but to "compete" either at the top or at the bottom is preferrable. Good luck Matt in your quest, I am sure you will succeed.
