Mining League Div. 2

Praze 5 .v. Mt Ambrose 2

Praze were worthy winners tonight but we certainly feel that we made them work hard for the victory with an improved defensive display from Saturday's win. Praze had the better of the first half and varied their attack with the long ball, wing play and trying to pass through the middle but we defended doggedly - getting numbers behind the ball and saw many of their attacks come to nothing. We had little to offer going forward despite the hard work of our strikers and midfield but this is testament to Prazes' back line who were very well organised throughout the 90 mins. It was going to take something a bit special to crack our resolve and it came about after a lack of communication between centre halves Craig Barnard and John Williams saw Shaun Wilkins capitalise to hit a half volley from distance that flew into the top corner. Praze went 2 nil up from the spot after a foul just inside the box and Tony Morley stepped up to score. We went in 2 - 1 at half time after Jason Dyer went on what is turning into a trademark run and was bought down in the box. He dusted himself down to take the spot kick himself.

The second half was more even, possession wise, and we put pressure on the Praze back line but didn't create any clear cut chances. Praze went ahead by 4 via another quality finish from distance following a corner and hit their 4th from the spot, their fifth came from a header I think. Praze may feel they were unlucky not to add further goals but I think that would of been undeserved for our efforts. We forced a few corners in the second half and added our second after a goal mouth scramble - Steve Hick poking home.

Tonights game was played in good spirit and, to re-iterate an earlier post, was well officiated. All the best to Praze FC on behalf of Mt Ambrose.

Mt Ambrose man of the match - Richard Ward. Put in a good shift and was up and back all game.

Mining 1

Newlyn 2-1 Gulval (HT 1-0)

Good even game played in good spirits. Newlyn i think slightly had the better of a good Gulval side, who on another day could have probably scored one or two more. Gulval hit the post and had a couple of of one-on-ones thwarted by the Newlyn keeper. In the end decent goals from Andrew Palmer and Will Wiltshire sealed the points.

Newquay 3rds 0- Goonhavern res 2

A very good game of football with goonhavern taking a 2 goal advantage at half time with a couple of missed chances by an off form self :angry2: hope to capture it back very soon and get my place back!!!

Anyway, from the side line second half was a closer affair but both defenses played well to keep out any further goals, although fair to say goonhavern had the more chances in reality but didn't capitalise <_<

Newquay are a good young side and never gave up, sure they will only improve as the season progresses.

Goonhavern wish Newquay the best for the rest of season.

scorers D HANKERS-1 (happy now??lol) :yahoo:

DIDDY DAVE-1

WEST CORNWALL 1 TITANS 3

a fast and furious game came to life in the first 10 mins when titans skipper dan scorer was sent off for swearing???the game was end to end despite titans being a man down.early in the second half west cornwall took the lead when ashley kemp was put through and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.sub ryan breakwell put in some good work to set up jack stocker who hit a good shot from outside the box to score in the top corner to give the keeper no chance.the game was know flowing end to end and titans were awarded a penalty which tim james scored after the ref had made him retake for an infringment.west cornwall then had a goal dissallowed after intervention from the assistant after advantage was given but the scorer then handled the ball as he fell gaining an advantage.west cornwall were awarded a freekick for the original foul.then after some good individual work from mark mitchell despite getting injured he lobbed the advancing keeper to score the third goal. both teams will feel agrieved from tonights game.but at the end of the day we all went back for a pint.see you at ours west cornwall and good luck for the season. :c:

As always the diplomat martin not quite how i saw the game needless to say two sides battling it out shame it was ruined by the unfortunate and somewhat ridicolous decisions of one :ninja: The Titans lads were superb tonight and showed great quality against probably the fittest team in the mining leagues let alone div 2 (mendot aside :clapper: only kidding) 81 minutes with 10 is hard at any time good start very pleased.
