Lamerton 2 - 2 Saltash

Recommended Posts

On a wet and very misty day that resembled more to a mid winter clash then a summer one at Lamertons Cardwell Park Lamerton got off to a good start althoughvin the first 10 minutes Lamerton allowed Saltash to take the lead through Matt Fulton after he picked the ball up from a attempted clearence and smashed home.

Lamerton to thier credit battled on and never dropped thier heads which is a different story to past seasons and such rewards were deserved for there persistance as the long ball played up field by Paul Breyley caused problems for the home defence resulting in Ash Barnes head over his own keeper and into the net.

This spurred Lamerton to push forward and snuffed out any further Saltash attacks with a solid back four and Paul Breyley and Jim steer looking solid in midfield and Pete Broomfield working tirelessly in the middle of the park.

The second half started badly for Lamerton who conceeded within 5 minutes of the restart a root one ball from the keepers boot carried in the wind bounced over the midfield and skidded somehow through the sluggish defence and Tony Jane for Saltash bent a beautiful lob into the top corner of the Lamerton goal to make it 2-1. Saltassh nearly went 3-1 up after a slip by Pete Daniel from a goal kick allowed Jane in again fortunatly Daniel redeemed the error with a smart save.

Lamerton then pressed forward and winning a corner which was floated in by Richard Searle to perfection for Paul Breyley to power home.

The game went from end to end and was a very entertaining game for the spectators to watch with chances coming for either team to nick the points. In the end a draw being a fair result.

This however looks to be the turning point for Lamerton this year with a new management team and sqaud rebuild things can only improve with all the sqaud members giving 120% every week in training and matches.

Thanks to Saltash for the sportsmanship during and after the game.

This week Lamerton are at Home to Torpoint.
