F A Cup Extra Preliminary Round :

Torpoint Athletic, playing in their first ever FA Cup, are safely through to the Preliminary Round after a 5-1 thrashing of fellow Peninsula League side St Blazey at The Mill. Torpoint will now face a home tie with either Odd Down or Verwood Town who replay on Wednesday night. The hosts had Brian Stacey scoring twice and Josh Grant, Liam Thornton and Billy Allen also on target with the stunned visitors gaining only a Dave Trott consolation. St Blazey ended the game with 10 men after keeper Tom Blackler was sent off for a professional foul. Buckland Athletic departed the Cup after going down 2-3 away at Western Premier outfit Radstock Town, the Bucks had Antony Lynch and Ryan Beattie finding the net. Saltash United also lost out away at Western League Premier opposition Bishop Sutton in cruel circumstances. After 90 minutes it was 3-3, extra time saw both sides score again to make it 4-4 and onto the dreaded penalties with the home side winning through 5-4.

Torpoint Ath 5, St Blazey 1

Torpoint : Martin Piper, Mike Roberts, Warren Daw, Kevin Robinson, Matt David, Darren Veale, Liam Thornton, Billy Allen, Josh Grant, Brian Stacey, Darren Hicks. Subs used: Chris Todd, Lewis Daw, Luke Avis-Riordan

St Blazey : Tom Blackler, Rob Stapleton, Luke Rundle, Josh Kemp, Lee Bradd, Tom Smith, Chris Reski, Jay Isbell, Sam Cooper, David Trott, Josh Higman. Subs used: Mamsie Sabo, Will Cherrill, Lewis Ellis

After a 1-1 draw on Saturday, this replay came alive after just a minute with Torpoint going ahead through good work by Darren Hicks down the left wing, the No 11 getting past two defenders and then crossing for the alert Josh Grant to head home.

On the quarter hour Torpoint's Liam Thornton robbed St Blazey's midfielder Josh Kemp and ran 50 yards before shooting. His effort bounced up awkwardly with Blazey's goalkeeper Tom Blackler appearing to all but save with his nose!

Minutes later it was 2-0 when Thornton shot home from the edge of the box, through a packed penalty area. The chance coming after St Blazey failed to clear a long throw from Kevin Robinson. Blackler could only flap at clearing and his punch only got as far as Thornton.

There was a yellow card for Billy Allen - a mistimed tackle. Jay Isbell headed the resultant free kick wide.

Then followed a mad few minutes - Blackler clipped Grant who was all but through on goal. The touch was enough for the striker to lose possession and the ball eventually bounced towards a couple of defenders who had got behind the advanced goally. Appeals for a red card came from the Torpoint fauthful, but referee Craig Smith, after conferring with his assistant Lee Mitchell decided it was only a yellow.

However less than a minute later and Blackler was sent off as he was adjudged to have fouled an onrushing striker - "hands on the forward's neck" it was described to me as. A straight red, a penalty and a goal from Brian Stacey. 3-0 to the home side with the visitors now having midfielder Isbell in goal!

With half-time approaching Luke Rundle brought a save out of the home 'keeper Martin Piper. However there was still time for another goal before the break with Brian Stacey notching his second and the home side's fourth when he spotted Isbell off his line. The in-form striker placed the ball around the stranded makeshift goally!

Seven minutes after the start of the second half and Andrew made it five with a long distance shot. It came after a good, pacy run by Hicks at the heart of the Blazey defence. Isbell didn't move for the shot!

It was a killer blow for the visitors as the goal came after the Green and Blacks had threatened, mainly through their skipper Chris Reski.St Blazey made two substitutions - Sabo and Cherrill for Stapleton and Kemp. Torpoint's Todd came on for Allen just after the hour.

On 65 minutes Hicks should have scored when left-back Daw put him in, then Isbell made a brilliant save from Grant.

Midfielder Ellis replaced striker Cooper with Reski being pushed forward and soon after St Blazey scored their consolation goal through David Trott after 72 minutes. The midfielder rifled home after Reski's corner found him on the edge of the box. His first shot blocked, the ball bounced straight back to him who's second attempt finished up nestled in the corner of the Torpoint net!

Torpoint responed with Stacey going close as he shot across goal! Avis Riordan came on for Grant and later Hicks was replaced by Lewis Daw.

Stacey picked up a yellow - which led manager Stuart Dudley to shout out "you're an absolute idiot!" Presumably aimed at his player rather than the ref, as the man in black immediately turned and walked towards the Torpoint gaffer but did nothing else!

The last save of the match came from Piper who made a good reaction stop from Reski who touched on a Cherill near post cross.

Torpoint now await on the 28th August the winners of the Odd Down against Verwood Town replay.

:smiley20: Falmouth Town v Ifracombe Town - FA Cup Replay

This is what football is all about, the FA Cup and the small clubs trying to get a little bit of the glamour that comes from the best cup competition in the world!

The results have been amazing, and good luck to Torpoint in the next round.

Hope that Falmouth can follow them into the next round, it should be a great match at Falmouth tonight.

Saturdays game at Ifracombe had everything, goals, come backs , first half hat tricks, and great goalkeeping displays from both keepers....

If Falmouth dont go through they will only have themselevs to blame, they had the game and let if go, however Ifracombe came back well, and played well second half.....

Come on Falmouth , finish the job tonight, i hope there is a big crowd , and get behind the team, and push them into the next round....
