Wendron Res. 5 .v. Mt. Ambrose 3

Really disappointing result and performance following last Saturdays game against Robartes. We started brightly, passing well and creating a few chances and had Wendron on the back foot. Richard Ward had a couple of decent opportunities and Steve Hick and Callum Salmon were picking all the right passes. Our possession told when we took the lead through Jordan Whaley but we were completely undone in a horrible 10 minute spell when balls over the top caught us out time and again. Wendron, to their credit, got numbers forward well and at half time we found ourselves 4 - 1 down. The second half started as the first had ended, Wendron putting us under pressure but somehow didn't manage to increase their lead. As the half wore on and space started to open up it was almost end to end stuff but not the exciting kind! Both sides guilty of not picking the right pass or overhitting through balls. We probably shaded it on chances created but found Wendrons 'keeper in fine pre season form. We won the second half 2 - 1 but certainly weren't happy with the way we played. Thankfully ( or not! ) we don't have too long to dwell on this game with St. Day Res. next up for us this coming Friday evening. Wendron were good for their win and played some good stuff throughout and we at Mt. Ambrose wish all involved with the club all the best for the season.
