Bridgerule withdraw from Duchy 4

From the Duchy League website:

"We regret to inform the withdrawal of Bridgerule from Division Four. Apparently a number of their players from last season have gone elsewhere and their reserves are not willing to travel, preferring to stay in the Kingsley League.

The standard fine will be issued, but this unfortunately leaves Division Four with just twelve teams."

It's started already then. The Duchy League should have scrapped having 6 divisions for this season and gone down to 5. Give it a couple more weeks and no doubt a few more will pull out and the Duchy League can have all league matches played by Christmas.

yeah i reckon at least 4 more will pull out, but they wont play all fixtures by xmas. we will have a game every 2-3 weeks which is even worse

Same old same old. I feel sorry for the club and the league administrators. All that hard work for nothing.

Such a shame it's come so late, I've got a side ready to go into duchy five at a moments notice.

That's mental .

The Kingsley side have 16 in division not 13 and arguably just as big distances on occasions. Appledore and fremington etc. So annual travel is ridiculous. Sorry 2hear they folded tho, games against them were good local derbys. Will still have 1 Derby in Kingsley tho so must see that 1. Good bunch of boys that worked hard 2make 2sided club, hard luck indeed

I bet not only the distance to travel was a factor but the amount of games they'd play. I know i'd much rather play 30 league matches a season than 24.
