ILLOGAN WIN EVELY CUP

Recommended Posts

Illogan 2, Plymouth Parkway 0

ILLOGAN remain on track for the treble after defeating Plymouth Parkway in the Evely Cup final at Nanpean on Sunday.

The Combination League outfit claimed victory thanks to goals from Ben Widdershoven (20) and Phil Willey (71).

After a sustained spell of pressure, Illogan took the lead when Widdershoven pounced on a poor pass by Parkway defender Peter Foster, before slipping the ball past Ian Evans.

Parkway had chances to level before half-time, but Illogan keeper Barrie Wyatt was never really tested.

And in the 71st minute Willey wrapped up victory with a goal worthy of winning any contest when he brilliantly lifted the ball over Evans from Gary Sturmey's cross.

Illogan: B Wyatt, P Wolstencroft, A Clarke, S Ellis, J Roberts, M Callaway, B Widdershoven, M Brewer, P Willey (D Williams 79), R Bray (C Williams 68), G Sturmey.

Plymouth: I Evans, C Thirkettle, D Smith (J Norris 59), P Foster, A Mitchell, J Knight, P West, S Purnell, D Worth, K Smith (J Perse 72), S Thompson (P Daniel 46). Sub (not used): R Hammond
