Massey's Mutterings - May 12th 2010

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the kind words re- hayle steve, its very much appreciated when footballing people like yourself recognise the hard work off the field as well as success on it.We aim to be a communitty family friendly football club with principles and a lot of hard work has been put in by volunteers who try to uphold these values. We don,t always get it right but we still try our best and it all seems worthwhile when you see four young local lads (whose dads have made major contributions over recent years) scoring for the reserves in the combo last night and also see the team all sitting down together socialising and having fun.

Good luck next season on your return with Buckland who have also been a great footballing success story and if you fancy a friendly give us a call. :clapper:

Good stats on masseys mutterings about Buckland. But think steve missed out the stat where Buckland broke the record in most punts down field by a defence, believe they average around a 100 long balls to the forwards to chase on to each game.I did actually watch a game where they did manage to string 2 passes together but unfortunatly it broke down when it went to the centre half and his 1st touch went out for a goalkick for the other team.Just saw on the bucks website they are advertising for player trials for next season .Players wanting to have trials have to be 6 foot plus have a touch like a rino and be able to kick the ball from 1 end of the pitch to the other.Congratulations to the worst footballing side to win the league in years !

Some interesting award winners chosen by Massey. Congrats to Portreath and Illogan :clapper:

thanks for the mention Massey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its been a tough season at portreath this year, club hit great heights over last 6 years then this year we hit rock bottom, no warning just straight to the bottom, portreath is my club and always will be, the players have been a credit to the club and without the support of them i dont think i could have kept the club going!!!

we will be there next season whether it be in combo or in fal/hels 1 we will be there and so will Portreath AFC!!!!

i am predicting good things to come to portreath, even the possibility of a home in portreath for the club not at the RAF base!!!

Randy - you can't have much luck can you. The only time out of 40 plus games and you go to the game where we deliberately hoofed it long for the whole game !! - i think the defender you have mentioned is called willo !! Happy days.

I can confirm that defender was definately Willow!

Thanks for the kind comments Randy, however it cant have been our game because we set ourselves a target of at least 200 long ball clearances a game, you must of been watching a game when we were "getting it down and playing a bit".

Thanks to our leader Tony Pullis for the tactical advice this season, not sure what our ball players "Lynch, Vicary, Revell x2, Gill, Hammon, Gaze etc etc thought of it though!

Oh yeah, Randy what was the score in that game you watched?!

Mutterings Team of the Season Award for SWPL West Division

This would perhaps surprise a number of people, but I really admire what Hayle have done this season, both on and off the pitch. Both St Austell, and in particular Perranporth, had a team full of experience and not to mention larger budgets then most. They only conceded 2 more goals then the Champs Perranporth and had just 2 wins less. So it was fantastic achievement for them to finish 3rd in the table. Lots of luck in your ambitions in climbing up the pyramid.

MUTTERINGS WINNING TEAM IS HAYLE.

Larger Budgets certainly not in AFC St Austells case. Hayle had the biggest budget in the league I saw a couple of there players opening their packets.... if it was for 2 games I apologise but Mr Massey you have got a bit mixed up on the budgets for Hayle as opposed to St Austell. As for experience isnt Wayne Quinn the player manager. Hayle large budget and under achieved beaten 3 times by st Austell and Perranporth this season, they will be a long way of promotion too next year.

I know your a busy man Mr Massey but look at the facts before you wite your mutterings.
