Combo results - 11th May 2010

Recommended Posts

Watched Perranwell beat Ludgvan 3-0, if Perran had better quality in front of goal, it would have been more, Ludgvan were again very enthusiastic, and it was 0-0 at half time. Tom Hosking(who tells me it was his debut in goal!) played well for Ludgvan. Fair result in the end I'd say!

Not much point in having a dig at St Just because the majority of your players behave in the correct manner, just a few let your team down. I dont think football is the game for players such number 18 (Steadman I think is his name)and your goalie who punched our 16 year old striker in the face off the ball, i am sure you will claim the ref did not see this as you did in both our recent match and one against Culdrose. There were also apparently after match antics involving players on the way back into the changing rooms. Disgraceful. Its only a game we all play it for fun, violence should not be a part of it.

I have said my piece, in terms of the game it was poor with mistakes characterising the match. The two penalties decided it for St Just.

Wendron scorers: Adam Peters, Richard Crowle, Angus Howlett

Falmouth Town 4 St Day 2

Falmouth scorers Luke Wort 3 Luke Murray 1 St Day scorer Dom Pullen 2

not much to say about tonights game other than both teams were depleted and it was a typical end of season game should i say! in fact at times was pretty awful to watch! still happy with the 3 points, good luck to Winno and the St Day lads for your last few games!

st just 4 wendron 3. darren steadmen 2, james payne and chris curnow for us. all i can say is wait for the banter tonight fellas and the digs towards st just, it'll be awesome!!

You say it as if you know it's coming....

Nobody has mentioned a thing about the game. I guess this is a confession??

Good spirited game from one side, I can personally hold my hands up for 2 of St. Justs goals with 1 being an own goal (how can your player claim that?) and letting another beneath my body. 1 very soft penalty for handball and 1 definate penalty for the foul on the St. Just striker. Should have been allowed a corner in the final minute with the linesman flagging a back post ball in front of the near post....

Care to mention your keepers name as the one throwing punches in the changing room holding our player to the floor? Easy to throw the blame one way..

p.s. for your involvement in the last game, was there any need for the kick out at me around the 20 minute mark?

god was an Hayle boy! woooooooooo

pity the mullion boys didnt come in for their sausage and chips.

must have been shell shocked. especially no16 who was made to look a clown by 16 year old zack williams.

i wasn't at tonight's game, but have played them several times before including when we entertained them at the Underlane the other week; but I don't think anyone has a problem with physical sides - thats football. I believe it is the degree of physicalness and abuse that St. Just dish out - to the point where I believe some officials may become intimidated. Just my thoughts, I quite enjoy a physical edge-but only to a certain extent!

The majority of the St Just players are decent lads, but as said before, a few of them let the team down. I realise that the Tinners may deny allegations of them been overly physical, but for it to come from so many sources means that many teams may have experienced it also.

As for tonight's game I can't comment as I was not there, so don't know first hand what went on tonight - I am just speaking from previous experiences from playing St Just.

st just 4 - 3 wendron.

once again st just live up to there reputation.

who scored for culdrose???

Why does everybody dislike St Just so much, so there a physical side so what there a good bunch of lads.

Most of them are fine, its just a few certain players. Theres a casual reason a reputation has developed

I heard the same keeper in question threw a punch on Saturday and games previous?

just to inform you that the st. just goalkeeper didn't throw a punch on saturday it was a forearm to protect himself against an advancing striker!!

and to say he threw a punch in the changing rooms is a disgrace, you really wanna get your facts right before putting them on here!! but well played wendron gd game!!!! . :clapper:

Wow, cant believe Im being drawn in on the St Just thing!

I log on to the forum to find out the results of games and a bit of a report on the events of each game and yes the banter is great......

But every results thread lately seems to be more of a St Just knocking session, usually by members of teams who have just lost to them.

From a personal point of view (and i have no connection with St Just), you know what your getting each season when you play St Just (for the last 10 years or more)...........yes, its sometimes a match of incident or arguing and always a physical competitive match against a close knit team who not only play together, but have a pint or two together afterwards.

I always enjoy the banter with Steve Curnow and his boys (and they have stuck together, with the likes of Birdy and 'The Curnows' - as Mr Beer refers to them - having been there for a number of years now - loyal bunch!). Its always a pleasure to enjoy a pint and some banter with them after the game too, always feel welcome at St Just and they always come in our bar (at Penryn) for a few drinks after the game. Which is more than can be said for a few other teams visiting us lately. Been most disappointing this season, with a few games we have had no-one from the opposing team come in for even an orange juice after!!

All this 'having a go at St Just' is also great motivation for them - I bet they are loving it! Try not to wind them up too much please......Weve got to play them on Saturday!!!!!

Cheers,

Pottsy

JoeJellico. I know 3 of the 4 players mentioned and there was absolutely no problems with them whatsoever.

We also had the same problems when we beat them 1-0 a few weeks back. You are right in saying that though because even after that game they were the ones making excuses up about us.

Well done, Tinners, three more points; and congratulations from your fan in exile in Gloucestershire. Roberts delayed fixturing Wendron against St Just when they were all rabbits: now they've got a few Truro ringers, we play them twice in ten days. Same old Crooked Orc !

Suspect Jasa had planned what he was going to write in advance. What a shame a nice club like Wendron are being let down by whining little outsiders like him. He'll bve gone next season anyway if somebody offers him a fiver a game. But that's the story of Cornwall, which a Lib-Con coalition will worsen......

As far as he's concerned, cheers,Steds, I owe you a pint again. They don't like it up'em. Nice to hear the penalties are going in !

The libellous statements against St Just, of which there is no evidence, need to be challenged. And also the outrageous slur against our fine referees, suggesting "intimidation". Ironically, it was glaringly obvious that the referee in the game at Underlane, once taken aside by the Wendron club linesman, completely changed tack towards St Just and gave them nothing for the last eighty minutes. I don't know whether the allegation that he was an ex-Wendron player reffing his first senior game was true or not.

Behave with the appropriate humility of a club eighteenth in the league, Jasa :clapper: ! Roberts has gifted you three more points than you'd ever have gained if the fixturing followed normal patterns. You should be glad you came to Lafrowda just after so many generous local solicitors have been offering Will Aid. Suck it up !

Just to clear one thing up, I rejected money from Truro in order to sign for Wendron and a decent amount too. Never played for money, never will. I play where I enjoy it hence why I signed for Wendron.

I remember when you personally used to pay combination league players.

I won bite at the rest as it's obviously a personal attack, as with the last game.

Who the hell is Roberts?

So I am not the only one who thinks St Just are a bunch of thugs and bullies then it seems they have been up to it again as for the keeper hitting out he deliberately punched the Culdrose striker on Saturday surely something has to be done about these thugs are all refs really intimidated by them.

Its all about the evidence, the ref did not see it or there were no bookings. Clearly no ones going to come up with video evidence etc but i am sure the bruises on the players faces who got hit yesterday say something, I know my ankles do! This is not a personal vendetta against St Just but just statements of what went on at the game yesterday.I agree with pottsy in that u expect a physical game against them but sometimes they take that to the extremes.

Rob the ref booked their keeper for hitting Matty when we tried getting the ball after we'd scored.

Notice how we're not crying about your delaying tactics when you were leading.. that's just football that we used well at home, and you used well at your ground.

All this about St Just is shocking, yes we can't condone violence in football but St Just are a hard but fair team, there are many sides in the combo league who like a tackle and indulge in verbals, Penryn were one of the worst for it this season as were Troon but this is all part of football and at the end of the day it's a mans game!

I've actually played down at St Just and everyone down there were awesome, and it is a kind of us against the world mentality but isn't that what Mourinho does so well also!?

As for football terms they have one of the top players in the combo league in Neil Curnow, who would walk into any side bar none!

Which St. Just player are you?

First post is a bit suspicious.

Nobody is reading this very well. People can handle hard teams, but the stamping, punching, fighting is not really what you turn up for...

Can tell you there is many a player better than Neil Curnow, may be the reason as to why he hasn't played for any other side bar none. Maybe because Daddy's the manager?

I've seen you talk about loyalty to your managers on other posts my boy, so maybe theres your reason why he hasn't moved!

As for better players, Neil has been in the combo select side for years, so theres your answer!

Again all this is my personal opinion, and you may disagree...thats life!

Bit like Pottsy I have resisted....until now.

Jasa wind it in a bit fella!! You are getting boring now. Ok so people got kicked in a game of football, it happens. Punches were thrown, it happens. Unless someone is seriously injured, life goes on. Was there no provocation, no verbals, no nothing, did he honestly just walk up to a random Wendron player and start punching him?? Sure Andrew, IF he did throw punches, was provoked in some way shape or form and Im afraid that in the big bad real world some people are unable to control there tempers and lash out, it may not be ideal but it happens. St Just always have and probably always will be physical, sometimes that goes against the laws of the game but hey, dont we all break them several times a game, its what helps Neil win many trophies, perhaps you could do a comparison of winners medals when both your careers are finished?! As you say, you play for Wendron because you enjoy playing there. Nothing to do with the manager then? Any different to why Neil plays for St Just?

Im sure every team that has faced St Just this season has had someone kicked and had to listen to Steadman moaning more than a porn star but Im also sure that they would also have had someone kicked in every other game and played against a whinger and moaner.

i dont think we were shell shocked to be fair,we started with ten men,4 of which were our 2nd team, and 1 of which was his first game since injury, personally i dont think hayle performed that well, you were gifted 2 or 3 goals, and you didnt really dominate the game, you jus had a team out there unlike us,and as for no.16,you were clearly jus winding him up after the broken leg incident last season,he didnt mean it and its wasnt personal, your irish player at the back was more of a clown, two footing our striker when the ball was 3/4 yrds out of play, running his studs down the back of players legs, and moaning to the ref all game about offside, pushes in the back etc, only to go and do the same thing to every one else ...........no wonder they subbed him,and he still didnt shut up!!

i have to agree with pottsy and gillo. st just are a physical side with a reputation but they are at times a good footballing team aswell which seems to get over looked alot of the time. i think steve and his team are getting a bit of a rough ride at the moment.i think we need to stick to the results rather than speculation on what a player did or didn't do after the final whistle.

on a diffrent note scoffy you let dom score against you last night!!!!!!!!!!! its a good job we got a result cause we all know what hes like if they had beat us.

All the best to steve and the boys at st.just

Everything else you do in public so I shall let you begin, what have you won?

I keep aiming mine at you?! This is my first comment on the matter with st just, that you have cried about twice in as many weeks. So how exactly am I aiming my comments at you? In the disability thread that got deleted I actually praised you for showing a pair and admitting your wrong doings.

Just out of curiosity, are you going to critisize all players who have dust up before during or after a game and comment about the disgraces of the beautiful or just when it's St Just? If so you better warm those fingers as you will be doing a lot of typing!

Anyway, why are you at Wendron? Last time you were gobby against Mawnan last year you told us you just helping out and were usually with the Truro 1st team squad! Bit of a come down, as lovely as Wendron is.

I agree with Gillo on this subject, football is a mans game, and you are going to get kicked or even more during a game. Most of us let it go and have a drink with the opponents after the game finishes, obviously not you Jasa, more concerned with being 'bertie big bananas'? Having played for many years with several of the St Just team, such as Jon Bird and Darren Steadman, i know the kind of players they are, and i also know that most people would agree that they would love them on their team. And as for the Neil Curnow remarks, you have to be joking? Neil is a fantastic player, who was regularly drafted into Penzances SWL squad. And before you ask my connection with St Just, i did used to play for St Just, 20 years ago, and if you think the players you play are tough players, you should have tried to play against the likes of Randall Olds, Roger Nicholas, Peter Grenfell and the May Brothers, not forgetting Kevin Boase, who played in the team i did!! That would be an awakening for you!!

decent money,think not?!

the whole handbag thing in the tunnel after happened as your captain and no.5 pushed "daddy" in the face,so one of our lads grabbed him and took him to the floor. i can't remember seeing any punches thrown or anything that violent, don't know what your issue is pal but wind it in!!! not one of our players moaned when we got tackled or when you personally clattered steadmen with 6 studs in the hip outside the box, just man up and get on wit it after all this is a football league and forum i'm on and not netball isn't it?

also to clear one thing up here, yes my "daddy" is manager of the side i play for but thats not the reason i play there at all. i've played at st just from the age of nine and combo league since the age of fouteen along time before my old man took over! you mention in your post above that you play where you enjoy it,well i enjoy it with all my mates down st just and i only have to hop over one wall and i'm in the football field :clapper: !!

you will probably learn that by getting personal or accusing people of something they haven't done will always come back to haunt you one day, a bit like last night's two shockers, didn't you act like a numpty up your place?

any way back on the football i think wendron had a couple of decent youngsters there in there captain, and centre midfielder no.8 and two useful strikers espescially the short lad! they will be a decent footballing outfit next year and have a very good manager in rob who no doubt will teach them its not just about looking pretty x!

good luck for your remaining fixtures and look forward to the games next year. hopefully we can move on cheers
