The Big Easy
This story has been published in today's Plymouth Herald and is also on another thread by Ian Southcott. Hillson leaves Tavistock to help replace Leonard Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 07:00 Comment on this story SPECULATION over who will take over from Dave Leonard, when he vacates his post of manager of Plymouth Parkway, is over. SWPL Premier rivals Tavistock have announced their assistant boss Wayne Hillson will team up with Parkway vice-chairman Gez Baggot to manage the Bolitho Park team next season. "Wayne has decided to team up with Gez at Parkway, a club he has had a long association with," said Tavistock manager Ian Southcott. "I fully understand and respect the reasons behind Wayne's decision, and would like to wish him well for the future, on and off the field. Southcott also confirmed James 'Coco' Cole will replace Hillson at Langsford Park after returning to live in the area. Cole, since moving away, has been playing at Slimbridge before taking over as the club's manager when they withdrew from the Southern League in 2007. It has been a difficult time for Slimbridge but under Cole's guidance they have won back-to-back promotions and are currently second in Division One West of the Hellenic League. Southcott said: "Coco's charisma and banter in the dressing room will be very welcome. "There is also a serious side to Coco when it comes to doing the business on the pitch and I look forward to having him working alongside me next season. "It is also a big bonus for us to have the likes of Paul Smith and Robbie Pethick at the club. "Although both of them want to concentrate on playing, for the foreseeable future, both Coco and I are delighted they want to apply their vast knowledge and experience to the coaching side. "They are already planning pre-season training." Southcott added: "We have a talented squad who are maturing all the time. "With the right additions, I am sure we will be in a position to mount a title challenge beyond April next year."
