Mr Manning, in your experience as a referee please can you answer this question.

You're standing on the edge of the box for a corner - 18 yards from the goal line - (as this is the correct place for a ref to stand), the corner comes in, a player gets up to head the ball goalwards, keeper catches it on the line, arms out straight.

Would you be able to see that that ball has crossed the line to award a goal?

St Darren I would say no you cannot be 100% sure thet the ball had gone over the line without being on the goal line.

Bundi..... Your keeper ran past 4 of your players to get a ball that was out side the area? Instead of going nuts at the ref maybe have a wee chat with your keeper pal

St Darren, sorry for the delay in replying but I have been out all day, the correct position for a ref who is using club assistants is on the goal line, from that position he covers any goal line incident. Your quote on positioning is correct if neutral assistants are being used, although in fact you vary your position for each corner.
