Chestnut Cup 2010

Recommended Posts

The chestnut appeal is running a 6 a side football tournament called the ‘Chestnut Cup’ on the 25th April 2010, being held at UCP Marjon, Plymouth. The tournament aims to raise money to help the charity to support men with prostate cancer. About one-third of men over the age of 50 have some cancer cells within their prostate and nearly all men over the age of 80 have a small area of prostate cancer.

During the day of the football tournament we are running a raffle with all proceeds going to the charity. We are looking for people or companies to donate prizes, in any form, or for people or companies willing to donate equipment that the charity can use during the day. We currently have 7 referees who are giving up their time on the day but we are looking for more to make sure the event runs smoothly.

Obviously as a charity, the Chestnut Appeal will have a limited number of funds to run the event on the day, so we cannot pay people for their time, but as a registered charity we are hoping people will be able to offer their time and equipment. We are looking for a PA system on the day, donations for refreshments to be sold, with proceeds going to the charity, balls, bibs, medals for winners and runners-up etc

The charity will be issuing an information pack to the teams, mainly made up from companies (including BBC SW, Brittany Ferries and the Met Office)and also creating a programme on the day. The companies who offer their services or equipment will be included in the programme along with the people dedicating their time to the event.

If you could help in anyway possible then please contact us via the address above or via 07891789729, 20013362@marjon.ac.uk

We are looking for any qualified referees who live in the Plymouth area who may be willing to give up a Sunday (25th April) to referee at the tournament for a good cause. We are a little short on referees at this moment in time.

PM if you are interested
