Perranwell 1 Godolphin Atlantic 0 h/t 0-0

Carl Paparone

Paparone's late goal put Cornwall Combination team Perranwell into the semi-final of the Cup.

First half was a tight affair with Godolphin playing some neat football on the bumpy pitch but the home defence held firm. The visitors engineered some half chances but were unable to take them due to their wasteful shooting and good goalkeeping by Paul Williams.Luke Brabyn for Perranwell just failed to get a touch on a cross just before the break.

Godolphin continued play the ball to feet and built up some good attacks mainly down the flanks that were again thwarted by a combination of Williams, some last ditch defending and poor finishing.Perranwell were relying on the quick counter attacks and from one and with the game edging towards extra-time Paparone reacted quickest to slam in a loose ball from about 8 yards.

The match was very well controlled in a calm and assured manner by George Pattison.

Perranporth 1 Dobwalls 4

It was an excellent result for Dobwalls as they played the best part of an hour with 10 men.

The visitors took the lead after 5 minutes when Jack Bartlett was upended in the penalty area for Matt Lindsay to score from the penalty spot.

A cracking free kick from the impressive Gosling levelled the scores.

The home side played some good football and created a number of reasonable chances but could not break down the dogged defence of the visitors.

After the break the hosts knocked the ball around making good use of their extra man but where thwarted on several occasions by the sheer determination of the Dobwalls players.

The visitors turned the game on its head when they broke from deep inside their half and some great passing play saw Simon Skews thread a pinpoint pass through to Stewart Dunn who held off the defender to calmy slot the ball past the advancing keeper.

At this point you would have thought that it was Dobwalls who had the player advantage as they continued to pile forward and constantly threatened the hosts back four who couldn't handle the pace and movement which resulted in Simon Skews cross that was met by Dunn who tapped home to extend the lead.

Perranporth upped their game and tried to salvage something but were again caught on the break, Jack Bartlett threaded a ball in behind the defence for Dunn to race away to round the keeper to fire into the empty net to complete his first hatrick for the club and book a place in the semi final of the Charity Cup.

It was a great team performance by the visitors who thoroghly deserved the victory.
