Newlyn 6 Storm 2

Fantastic result for Newlyn against us on a day when we just couldn't get into the game, our defence may as well have had the day off, in fact I think they did as all 6 goals were scored from breakdowns of our play and within three passes.

Newlyn gave us a lesson on how to play as a team and how hard work and grit mixed in woth some good football at times will win games, our players seemed more interested in criticising each other and argueing amongst themselves than playing football and we deserved exactly what we got.

Good luck Newlyn!

Mining League Div. 1

Sennen 0 .v. Trevenson Utd 1

A very ill tempered game today, tackles went in all over the pitch that led to some feisty flash points. A ref no show, so both sides agreed to officiate a half each. Sennen started the strongest and had large amounts of possession throughout the match and it forced us to try and just hit them on the break. From one of our counters, Nathan Hughes was tackled and a penalty was awarded that Andrew 'Mushy' Symons buried for his 13th of the season. Sennen were a constant threat with some good support play through the middle and pace to burn from the front two and we had to be alert from a corner when the ball bounced around our box before Pete Willliams finally got a good block in to clear the danger.

Second half was almost all constant pressure from the home side. Leigh Isaacs was our saviour with a stunning double save and later on a great save onto the post from a powerful header. We had some half chances with Sam Mayou and Shaun Isaacs dogged in the midfield and releasing both Carl 'Stretch' Stretton and Mushy for opportunities. We thought we had a second when Luke Hart hit a sweet strike that was destined for the back of the net but was cleared off the line! The match boiled over at the death when Darren Copeland put a challenge in right at the edge of the box. Sennen thought they had a penalty shout and we believed it had gone for a corner. The eventual decision was for a Sennen free kick after some pushing, shoving and fisticuffs! This heated exchange wasn't helped when minutes later Sennen had the ball in the net but was duly ruled out as the ball had gone out of play from the right wing cross.

We were in a match today and had to pull this one out of the bag against a well organised side, but that is 3 victories on the trot now which, obviously, we are delighted with. Sincerely, all the best to Sennen for the remainder of the season.

Mining League Div. 3

Trevenson Utd. Res. 0 .v. St. Buryan Res. 3

Unable to get back to winning ways but a scoreline that doesn't reflect the match by all accounts. One nil at half time, Nathan Hick had a smart save to his right to deny the visitors an increased lead at the break. A story of missed chances from us in the second period which would of been no more than we deserved for some of our attacking play, but St. Buryan make the trip back with 3 points.

martin williams 1 ( miss hit cross that he is claiming!! )

Shut up - it was a screamer. I spotted the keeper off his line and chipped him from the wing. I saw Morley and Radbone ready for a cross but thought the best option was a shot. Anyone who knows me will know I meant it!!!!???? 100% record - 1 shot - 1 goal. How many have you scored this season Gary O???

FRIENDLY GAME

GOONHAVERN 4- NEWLYN NA 4.

AS NO OFFICIAL GAME WE MANAGED TO GET A FRIENDLY AGAINST NEWLYN, VERY GOOD GAME PLAYED IN A FRIENDLY MANNER AND BOTH TEAMS HAD A GOOD RUNOUT, ALTHOUGH NEWLYN ONLY HAD 9 PLAYERS WHICH WAS OK AND THEY HAD 2 OF OUR PLAYERS WHO PLAYED WELL FOR THEM I THINK.

ANYWAY, FAIR SCORE LINE AND GOONHAVERN WOULD LIKE TO GIVE BIG THANKS  TO NEWLYN FOR TRAVELING SO FAR FOR A FRIENDLY, HOPE THEY ENJOYED ASWELL.

GOOD LUCK FOR REST OF YOUR SEASON.

THANKS :smiley20:

Dunn Cup

Threemilestone 2-4 Goonhavern

Game started fairly evenly with Threemilestone forcing a succession of corners although Goonhavern could have scored a couple themselves but failed to capitilise on some good openings. Both sides were showing plenty of commitment. Goonhavern eventually took the lead after about 30 minutes when Matt Millbanks finished after being put through by Joe Carlyon. 1-0 became 2-0 when Joe Carlyon finished off a good team move by volleying into the top bin from about 20 yards. It wasn't long before it was 3-0 when Paul Guttridge converted a Joe Carlyon centre. A mix up in the Threemilestone defence allowed Matt Millbanks to make it 4-0 shortly before half time.

Second half begun and Goonhavern never really replicated their performance from the first half. Threemilestone changed their formation in an attempt to find a way back into the game. Goonhavern missed a few more chances before Threemilestone pulled a goal back through a fortunate own goal. They pulled another goal back when one of their subs scored with pretty much his first touch although Goonhavern's keeper won't be too happy about letting it slip through his grasp. Threemilestone then hit the bar twice in a matter of moments. Goonhavern managed to weather the storm and see the game off comfortably in the end. Was well reffed by Colin Spence.

Brilliant performance today, what a difference a week makes! Although the Storm defence was a bit shaky, Newlyn where everywhere on the pitch, battled hard, keeping Storms chances to a minimum, played some nice football and took our chances well! Definitely our best performance of the season, hopefully we can move on from here. Sounds a bit of a cliche but everyone was man of the match today, buzzing after that...

Although the ref made some dubious decisions for both sides, thought he had a good game and showed cards in the right places for a few feisty challenges, which could of got out of hand....

Special thanks to Tim who rolled the pitch in his spare time, nice to see the ball bouncing around evenly, not like a pinball machine!

Rosudgeon Res 3 St Ives Mariners 0

Att:Another full house at 'The home of football'

Good game played in the right spirit and a really good battle,Mariners will feel hard doneby with the result,For they did'nt get the result there workrate and commitment deserved.

But overall we were good for the result as both teams had there chances, but we put ours away and Oz made some top-draw saves when called upon.

There was plenty of space in the 1st half which was rarely used to be honest,But the one time we did get the ball down and play produced a quick moving 1 touch move from the back which was eventually converted by Jozzer Aka 'TBA' to put it away after the keeper made abit of a mess of it.But nevertheless it was good for Jozzer to get last week out of his system and bag his 15th of the season :clapper:

H/T 1.0

Second half we upped our game and played more of our usual game,Knocking the ball around well and retaining the ball much better. The second goal came from great work from Phil Tanser with superb control on the chest and a totally miss-hit cross which somehow the keeper let fly over him and straight in.The finish was fortunate to say the least but it was no less than 'Tanz' deserved after another stunning display  .

Needless to say the keeper were'nt best pleased and decided to come outfield after that!!!!!!!!!!!

Mariners never stopped working and still created chances of there own but just did'nt have the finish thankfully for us.

A triple substitution broke the game up with 20mins to go and 'Chico 'stepped of the bench to hit the 3rd with a good drive which looked to take a deflection,But he showed some good movement and an eye for goal which is promising for us.We saw the game out and kept the clean sheet which is always nice for the lads and overall a step in the right direction after a recent dip in form.

All the very best to Mariners for the remainder of the season,Good bunch with a hell of a spirit.

The ref was abit of a fella, but in fairness he was consistant :c:

Man Of The Match: Phil Tanser, another non-stop performance from our very own 'Giggsy' :drink:

Back to the J Shield next week away to Marazion for a a big derby game of which we have to continue to kick-on with our form now.

REDRUTH RES 2 V 6 CARBIS BAY (MOANERS)

To be fair the best team won and i hope they win promotion so we dont have to listen them winge at every thing the ref does !!!!! Even at the end when the game was won they were still moaning !!!

Back to the game carbis bay were 2 nil up with 20mins gone we pulled a goal back and i thought at that stage we were the better team until darren lewarne made a brilliant one handed save on the goal line ! the only problem with it was he was our center half !!! penalty down to 10 men and they scored 3 1 half time and a long way back for us.

Second half we battled well but tired towards the end when carbis bay took over .

No game for 2 weeks now not happy !!!
