This may be a stupid question (nothing new from me there then  )..

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light as to why Sunderland are still known as Sunderland AFC?.

It's on their murchandise, it's on their nets in big letters.. SAFC.. If you click on their website, you're welcomed by a greeting from Sunderland AFC..

Now I may be wrong?. But I always thought AFC meant "Amateur Football Club"?.

Anyone able to shed any light?.

Coopsie always has questions :D

Is that a bad thing?.

With questions come answers, with answers comes knowledge, with knowledge there's even less chance I can be wrong  ... Yes, I know it seems unlikely, but there's still a chance I could be wrong about some things ;) .. Though I'm yet to discover what they are
