I was right where it happened but I had my lad with me so I was just making sure he was well out of the way. It got so congested in there that if anyone did want to plough in they wouldnt have been able to get in there due to all the bodies. Also, it was a miracle no one went over the side of the stand as its about an 8-10 foot drop onto the concrete.

Shame as it was a cracker of a game, Newquay fans certainly cant complain about a lack of entertainment lately.

I would also like to thank Tina Hilton for helping to look after him as he was shaken and upset by the incident.

Not a karate kick but stormed off the pitch up the stairs into the stand straight up to Judge, launches himself at him they end up rolling around which leads to other fans and one or two other players jumping in with punches flying around etc. Bearing in mind Judge was the furthest away from the entrance to the stand and he stormed past other fans its obvious he was targetting him.

A lot of the people there were trying to break it up so its not fair to slam others who got involved from both sides but it was not what people want to see in football at any level. There was a young mum in amongst the fans there with a baby only a couple of months old...

Its mind boggling that you could lose it that much in front of kids and babies over a poxy football match...

This is gona be fun to see what happens!!!! :D

Not much fun for the Austell fans Paul. The committee have done a terrific job saving the club from the brink of extinction, steering them to a Senior Cup win and genuine title challengers. Then an incident like this occurs and the club's reputation is damaged further. All we want is a season free of any kind of controversy! :(

It was good to see the remaining players of both sides shaking hands after the game though.

Unfortunately not a wind up :(

Im a big believer in two sides to every story but I dont care what they come out with, theres no excuse for players storming off pitches to attack fans.

What was said, well not as much as last season too be honest. Yes there is banter which sometimes crosses the line but today it was Lee Bradd who copped most of it as an ex-Newquay player.

But the attitude of the fans was along the lines of "Bradders is a good lad really, he can take it" and to be fair he did with the odd exchange back at the fans lol.

There was a lad sent off for St.Austell right at the end and thats what seemed to kick it all off, not sure of his name, good player with a bit of fire in his belly (wears pink boots). It was right after that that he stormed into the stand. The lad who got sent off was not involved and went off quietly.

The player sent off was Ben Douglas for a second yellow card and quite rightly didn't make an issue of it. From where I was standing Whetts seemed to be getting more and more wound up in the preceding few minutes and obviously didn't like what he heard from the stand.

With my limited observational skills - the Newquay keeper seemed to punch the ball into his own net, but I'm told that Mike Body got the final touch, Damon Mulready scored from the penalty spot and Bods got the 3rd. Not sure about the Newquay scorers.

You Blazey boys love to wind it up!!! Whetter was your hero 2 seasons ago and now you can't wait to see him banned!!!

I'm biting my tongue on this one - got myself into trouble before for posts about my home town club! Just such a shame that some mindless actions may have put innocent spectators and children in danger.

What a cracking game ruined.... and will no doubt be over shadowed by what happened a few minutes from time...... It was an absolute disgrace!!! No matter what level you play at you should not react to a fan!! People may slate the judge but he is always at every game.... without fail!!! following us, and i agree he was quite quiet today!!!

Anyway lets concentrate on what was a great game....

Luke wheldon got 2 goals to put is 2-0 up before St Austell brought it back to go 3-2 up before h/t then the second half was a different story..... I scored to make it 3-3 and Robbo scored to make it 4-3.... after that im not really going to comment but i will wait in anticipation to see what happens!!!

WELL DONE LADS!!!

With a few minutes to go both Ben Douglas and Lee Whetter were both shown second yellow cards. The former for a foul tackle, the latter for contesting things in the way of running 20 yards or so to get involved!

What happened next is pretty much all said already!

Great shame because the game was a cracking advert for local football.

0-1 Luke Wheldon scoring after Bradley Ralph wasn't sure whether to allow the ball to run through to 'keeper Kai Stone or not. Ralph, assumedly in two minds, knocked the ball towards Whetter, who unfortunately slipped, Wheldon picked the ball, beat one St Austell defender and shot well into the corner of the goal

0-2 Two minutes later a great goal finished off by Wheldon. A break from one end to the other, Scott Palmer's cross from the right just eluded the outstretched foot of Paul Robertson, but Wheldon brilliant half-volley at the far post gave Stone no chance whatsoever.

1-2 Newquay's 'keeper Luke Payne made a complete hash of an inswinging corner. Trying to flick the ball out from under the bar, all he could do is see the ball run down his arm to Lee Bradd, who made sure from inches out.

2-2 On the 24th minute, it was all-square when Douglas was impeded in the box, no arguments from the Newquay defenders and Damon Mulready levelled it from the spot.

3-2 Five minutes later and the home side are in front for the first time in the match when Mike Body tapped home at the far post after Will Tinsley's left wing cross wasn't cut out

Half-time, and a chance for us all to catch our breath!

3-3 Just four minutes after the break and Newquay pull the game back with a brilliant free-kick from Palmer. About 25 yards out, his kick moved in the air a la Ronaldo!

3-4 The killer blow four minutes from Newquay - Ralph making a pretty poor attempt to cut out a through ball to Robertson who with far too much space, took the ball around Stone and slotted the ball in for what proved to be the winner.

Yellow Cards (that I noted, but there could well have been others)

25 mins Bradd for a slightly late lunging tackle

32 mins Douglas for a foul

34 mins Robertson for dissent

35 mins Jodie Dean for a foul on Will Tinsley

85 mins Lee Whetter for obstruction (I think)

87 (?) mins Douglas (2nd + Red) for a foul

87 (?) mins Whetter (2nd + Red) for probably dissent

Line-ups:

ST AUSTELL : Kai Stone, Richard Crapp, Damon Mulready, Bradley Ralph, Lee Whetter, Gary Wheildon ©, Lee Bradd, Ben Douglas, Chris Phillips, Mike Body, Will Tinsley. Subs on: Liam Dingle and Ross Sundercombe

NEWQUAY : Luke Payne, Glenn Rogers, Ashley Bradshaw, Sam McKune, Jodie Dean, Paul Hampshire, Luke Whelden, Shaun Middleton ©, Scott Palmer, Paul Robertson, Jake Hartigan. Subs on : Matt Willmott, Olly Deadman

Referee : Marc Oldaker (Launceston); Assistants : John Elliott (St Austell), Grant Russell (Newquay)

As usual in any incidents that involve St Austell peter beard will use the old boys network to get them off as he has done so many times over the last few seasons ... a disgrace.....

With a League official watching, I think it'll need a miracle.

Look out for the Newquay Voice this week - could be some very damning photographs of others involved from the St Austell camp who haven't been mentioned alongside Whetter!
