More Combo snippets for Mike Odgers

Recommended Posts

Both these snippets concern Illogan RBL in the 1978-79 season.

It was reported that during the match played on 17th March, between Illogan and Truro, "Due to driving snow the referee had to abandon his spectacles as he couldn't see."

Truro went on to win 3-0.

On 14th April the match at Illogan v Mullion had to be abandoned after a few minutes and played on Illogan's 3rd team's pitch as "Illogan had had a load of sand delivered for the goal mouths and the Mullion keeper found glass in his goal. The referee had no option to take the players to the other pitch where the game restarted. Illogan won 4-0."

One about the SWL

11/3/76

"Porthleven were fined £25 plus £5 costs and were ordered to put up notices due to a "Fracas" between supporters and Bugle players. Some of the players were chased into the Social Club and stayed inside for their safety."

In 1976 a colour TV Licence cost £18. A gallon of 4* petrol cost 69p or just under 15.2p per litre.

Those were the days

Where was Illogan's 3rd team pitch? Was it as it is still Illogan Park?
