Darin Morse
Are we getting the annual pull out containing squad photos etc this year?
Guest Uncle Albert
Apparently not. Cutbacks. The credit crunch strikes. First time in more than 30 years they are not doing one, I think. Great shame.
Guest Charley
there will be one on sunday
Guest Uncle Albert
In that case, I look forward to seeing it. Good on the Cornish Times owners for refusing to damage the Indy's best-selling paper of the year, just for the sake of saving a few quid. :c:
Tommy Matthews
I always enjoyed playing the game of how many players can you spot in more than one team during pre-season games.
pastyman
A very reliable source has advised me that there will be No Sunday Independent Football Special for 2009. It would seem the "Decision Makers" within the Sunday Independent have decided they are unwilling to fund the project this year. Personally, I feel this is a very shortsighted decision. Might I ask a previous contributor(Charley), where did you get your information that there will be a "Football Special" this year. I am unwilling at this point to reveal my source, as it would betray a trust. There is one clue to the non-appearance of the "Football Special" this year, Why has the Sunday Independent not mentioned it in recent weeks? Surely if they were going to produce it, they would be looking to encourage people to buy it!
Mike Odgers
I understand Falmouth had their official team photo taken at Treyew Road on Monday. Hope this is not the case as I have collected previous 'Soccer Specials' the oldest going back to 1979.
Guest Postie Pidge
It appears there isn't going to be one after all. A real shame!
Mike Odgers
Will Packet newspapers be issuing their glossy photo shoot of West Cornwall football? as they have done for the past two seasons.
Guest Postie Pidge
Falmouth had a team photo before the Penzance Dave Gardner game and the Truro game so quite possibly
Guest Uncle Albert
I dont like to say I told you so . . . but I told you so. If they were doing a soccer special, the Indy and indeed the Cornish Times, would have been promoting it in a big way for the last few weeks, and quite rightly. I understand from my source that Falmouth's team photo was arranged by the West Briton, which is nothing to do with the Indy. I agree that the Soccer Special is a jewel in the crown of the Indy and those who have decided in their wisdom not to produce one this season are short-sighted. They're not the same people who run Radio Cornwall's sports programmes are they? Local football seems to be getting a rough deal these days, which is a great shame. Adlestrop
Seems to me the only paper worth buying is the outstanding "Cornish Guardian"
pastyman
WOULD IT BE AT ALL POSSIBLE FOR THIS SITE TO REPLICATE THE FOOTBALL SPECIAL? A TEAM PHOTOGRAPH AND SOME EDITORIAL FOR EACH CLUB OUTLINING THE "COMINGS AND GOINGS". CLUBS COULD EACH SUBMIT TEAM PHOTOGRAPHS AND SOME EDITORIAL. SOUNDS SIMPLE, BUT GUESS THE SITE MAY NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITIES.
Dave Deacon
BUT GUESS THE SITE MAY NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITIES. We have the capabilities, but do people have the time and inclination?
pastyman
Well Dave, thanks for the prompt response. Good to hear that the site could accomodate. Guess its down to the clubs now.

Gareth Rowett
The St Austell Voice have prepared a 12-page pull-out free with this week's issue (out Wednesday) for teams in our area including St Blazey, St Austell, Foxhole Stars, Biscovey, Sticker, St Stephen, St Dennis, Roche, St Blazey reserves. Mike Odgers
How far South would the St.Austell Voice be on sale? Would it be available at (W H Smith)Treliske hospital?
Guest Uncle Albert
St Austell Voice only covers its own small area's teams. Even if it is on sale at Treliske, it wont have much in about Falmouth Town, if anything at all. For coverage of the whole league every week during the season you'd be best to stick with the West Briton or the Cornish Guardian.
Mike Odgers
I was aware that it would only feature the 'The Clay Country' clubs and was thinking of adding it to the Packet/West Briton/ Cornishman supplements.
