Its nice to have an advert with Plymouth Argyle its choce of football club. Unfortunately the company should have done a bit of research because the guy sounds as if he comes from Bristol. Not the slightest bit like a Plymouth accent which is very distinctive.

According to todays Western Morning News they did do some research - and then put the 'product' before representatives of Argyle. There were then some amendments [as requested by Argyle] as things sounded too Bristolian..!!

Although its lighthearted and probably does take the mick a bit its still going to be good for raising Argyles Profile.

Not too sure that is the way to get Exeter/Torquay/other clubs fans to go with Norwich Union/Aviva.

Perhaps now that a lot of the country is Digital, maybe they have done ads to cover most clubs as it is easier to localise ads to a specific region. Does anyone know if the Kent area has Gillingham or Cumbria area has Carlisle featured ?

Plymuff/Brizzle accent, makes no difference really, if those upcountry hear a country accent, they will place it anywhere from Hereford, Swindon downwards. Just as those t'up norf, call everyone east of Swindon and south of Northampton a Cockney (Excluding East Anglia of course, which they also assume to be a westcountry accent)

the accent has no association to plymouth whatsoever, when i 1st heard it, giggled as Aviva, like most businesses in the world, think the world stops at bristol.

thing is judge, if he'd have had a newquay shirt on, claimed a cornish accent, and spoke with a bristol accent, you'd have been the 1st one on here panning them!!!!!!!!!!

why spend thousands on advertising and get it wrong?

also, away to newcastle, dont they realise newcastle are in the premiership, and argyle in the championship!?

Keeping in mind that I'm an American, and therefore hopeless, I do have a question but not about the accents. (I'd have guessed it wasn't London, Lancashire, or Yorkshire, but Bristol v. Plymouth?).

Is the implication of this ad that Plymouth's fans are not very vocal, and/or embarrassed by this loudmouth? It's not much of an endorsement of Argyle, is it?

Still funny, though.
