Richard Chown
CCFA Website The Chairman of Cornwall FA, Geoff Lee has written this letter for the 2009-2010 season. Having been re-elected as Chairman for a second year it is my pleasure to welcome all members of the Cornish football family to the new season. As I write many clubs are already involved in pre-season friendly matches and I expect that team officials, league officials and players are busy making all the necessary preparations for the season ahead to ensure that everything goes according to plan. I would particularly want to extend by best wishes to any new clubs starting up and to any clubs who are entering “new territory” by playing in a new league having been promoted last season. I am sure membership will join me in giving a particular mention to Truro City who will play in the Southern League Premier Division for the first time. Last season saw the introduction of the “FA Respect Programme”. This has been a major FA initiative across the whole game and although you may have varying views about its success last season I would take this opportunity to reinforce Cornwall FA’s commitment to the programme that the FA always believed was a long term initiative and was not suddenly going to change the game overnight. The programme will be entering its second year and we hope to build on the successes achieved in the first year. Its continuing success relies on everyone involved in the game believing in its aims and acting accordingly to ensure its success. The County FA underwent a number of changes at the end of last season. Many of you know that we shall soon be relocating the County FA Headquarters to Bodmin. Having sold the current county office in St Austell, we hope to soon be working out of new offices on the outskirts of Bodmin, a location that will be far more accessible and be able to meet the needs of our wide range of customers far better than our current location. Once we are relocated we will be planning an official opening and hope that many of you will be able to attend. Long serving Council Member, Tristan Scott, decided to stand down as Vice Chairman and as a Board member at the end of last season. We were delighted to present both him and ex-Chairman Dennis Champion with their CCFA 60 year award at the recent County AGM. Both gentlemen remain as Divisional Members. David Bray, who many of you know as Youth Secretary, was elected as the new Vice Chairman and I am sure everyone who knows David will want to wish him luck in his new role and I look forward to working alongside him. The County will need to continue to embrace the many changes that are taking place in the game and it is inevitable that the pace of change will continue. The FA are continuing, despite the current economic climate, to invest millions of pounds into grassroots football across the country. This investment for us means being given the respoonsibility of meeting a number of ambitious targets. I am confident that these will lead in the long term to Cornwall FA being able to provide an improved service to its customers and hope that this is reflected in our relationship with all providers of the game in the County. I wish you all every success this season and more importantly that you enjoy your involvement. Best wishes Geoff Lee County FA Chairman
cornishteddyboy
For a second you had me going when I saw the subject title, "Season's Greetings". I thought you were getting in quick, wishing us a merry Christmas before Tesco start selling crackers, wrapping paper and decorations in August. :P
