Peck1961
With the Communiity shield being played today and the Football League season starting this weekend it appears the phoney football season is over (pre-season), so the time is right for someone with a a little bit of knowledge and foresight to show you all what the Premier League will look like sometime in mid-May 2010! 1) Liverpool (Alonso wasn't as important as 'pundits' make out & need to keep Gerrard & Torres fit for most of the season) 2) Manchester United (Whilst Rooney & Berbatov will step up in Ronaldo's absence, just think Liverpool will pip 'em) 3) Manchester City (The squad is now too strong not to be challenging, in fact I think they will have a run at a title challenge for most of the season before not coping (mentally) with the final stretch of the campaign) 4) Chelsea (Abramovich wants the Champions League, hence why he's been chasing Ancelotti for the last 12-18 months. The players will be desperate for that as well after last year's exit from the competition) 5) Arsenal (A fine group of youngsters, that play the good football, and ordinarily would be 'Top 4' again, however I just feel there are now 4 better squads than them in the league) 6) Tottenham Hotspur (Decent squad, but still just a little bit short to challenge the top 5, 'best of the rest') 7) Everton (Solid, hard to beat, no-one relishes a trip to Goodison) 8) Aston Villa (Fast becoming Fabio Capello's England 'B' team, will miss Laursen & Barry) 9) West Ham United (A nice, innocuous, season for the Hammers (After the up & downs of the last 2 or 3 years, that's a blessing I'd have thought) with Zola building on his good work from last season) 10) Sunderland (Bruce will make them hard to play against and Darren Bent will score them 15-20 goals) 11) Blackburn Rovers (Big Sam will make them the Bolton of a couple years ago, efficient & functionable) 12) Bolton Wanderers (Megson will continue to try to make them the Bolton of a couple years ago, efficient & functionable!!) 13) Fulham (Barely any injuries last season, and with the added strains of the Europa League, won't be as effective, but comfortably safe though) 14) Stoke City (The brilliant home support & record will again keep them up, as long as the 2nd season syndrome doesn't catch them out) 15) Wolverhampton Wanderers (Have enough goals in their team to just keep them out of trouble, and give themselves another season in the Prem) 16) Burnley (Need to make Turf Moor as intimidating as Stoke make the Britannia Stadium in order to get enough points in the bag. Will benefit from there being 6 or 7 clubs in the Premier League this season that could easily go down) 17) Wigan Athletic (Can't afford to lose players like Heskey, Palacios & Valencia and not expect to struggle. Martinez is a good manager though and will just keep them up, playing a more attractive style of football) 18) Birmingham City (Can't see where the goals are coming from, will need record signing, Christian Benitez to find his feet straight away) 19) Portsmouth (Financial issues, selling your best players & dressing room divisions all add up to 1 thing...) 20) Hull City (Been on the slippery slope since Xmas last season, and with every Tom, **** & Harry turning them down in the summer, I'm afraid Mr Phil Brown will be on the pitch at the end of this season singing ' We are Championship, said we are Championship') Also as a little something extra, here's some additional predictions... Champions League winners - Real Madrid FA Cup Winners - Tottenham Hotspur Carling Cup Winners - Aston Villa Plus, Steven Gerrard to retire from Football after the World Cup, to start a career in boxing, apparently he's got lightning fast hands! Wayne & Coleen Rooney have a baby girl and call it Waynetta! Sven hires Faria Alam as his PA at Notts County, while Ulrika Jonnson comes in as head physio! Newcastle fans petition Gordon Brown for a government handout to help buy the club from Mike Ashley, citing the fact that the club is being run by a bunch of bankers! Anyways, bring on the new season, I can't wait and I'm tired of watching us winning nothing at Cricket & Tennis..... but wasn't Tom Watson great in the Golf!
midfield
The scousers won't win it. Their best hope was last season and they blew it. Man C may finish top 6 but not in the top 4. Why do people keep on writing us off? We are going to surprise a few this time around.
