Ground Safety Training Course

Recommended Posts

Storm FC are currently in talks with a national training provider with a view to running a ground safety and stewarding training course at the club.

The initial idea is that these courses will be funded by the govenment and will be free to volunteers (which most people at Cornish football clubs are).

Below is a statement from the training provider about the type of course available:

"We can offer an introductory course that complies with the requirements of the Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds and this can be used towards the NVQ level 2 in Spectator Safety – a requirement of the licensing authority for stewards working at all football league clubs."

The course will cover aspects of ground safety including stewarding, risk assessment, safety when taking cash payments etc. If anyone would be interested in taking the course please contact me.

It is anticipated that the course will be a regualr event providing that numbers are good enough to run more than once. If there is enough interest on the introduction course we will aim to become a provider of the NVQ course, which will qualify people to work at football clubs. There is also an opportunity to run a course for general events other than football. This would be interesting for anyone planning sponsorship events or fun day's.

Please signal your interest in order to get a course up and running for the summer.
