So Manchester City are going to be successful.

What do you class as success.?

Citeh spent a fortune this year,Given,Bridge,Wright-Phillips,De Jonk,Robiniho, and Jo.

Achieved f--k all.Money dont guarentee = success.

Go on give me the famous qoute,GIVE IT TIME.

If this guy is pumping money in,he wants success ,NOW.

Give Hughes 10-15 games,if Citeh are not in the top 5.He's gone.

Gareth Barry went for the money,5 year contract £100,000 a week.

Loyal players you say,Giggs,Scholes,Neville,Terry,Carragher,Gerrard,King, may have not done 12 years at

their clubs,but must be close.

Just tell me when Citeh will be crowned Premiership Champions.?

With the money being spent, that must be their target,or are they going to be another Arsenal, who say

finishing 4th is success.?

I think with the exception of a few players most are driven by money, Money has ruined the game and just how much is that premiership trophy really worth

When I was a lad (Some time ago now) the f.a cup was the dogs gonads but look at it now, manure now put out there reserve team because they think the premiership and champions league are more important (Not so for clubs below the top 5) and if memory serves me right they even withdrew from the f.a cup one year to pursue other avenues

My team (West Ham as I am sure you are all aware off) have Lucas Neil as there captain, He came because we offered the best deal at the time and now his contract is out this summer he is demanding even more money (Even though he is 31 now) and the club have as far as I know said no, Good on them I say and let him go, West Ham are renowned for bringing through good quality players (Just cant keep hold of them) and I hope with Zola and Clarke on board that this will change, James Tomkins has done a sterling job and has a great future ahead of him (Hopefully in claret and blue) and I think he is the man to replace Neil and if he does well then fine offer him a new improved contract but for gods sake please don’t buy players who are just after the money, There is nothing worse than a player kissing the badge in celebration and then leaving for higher wages it is wrong so wrong

The only losers are the real genuine supporters because it is us who pay in the end

Fifa/Uefa or whoever should now start to put caps on how much players are worth, 50 – 100 million for players is madness, 12 million is bad enough and just where does the 12 million come from I mean how many clubs have £12m sitting in the bank (Honestly who can say that) (Apart from Man city or Chelski)

I agree with the point that any person in any job would go for more money but I strongly disagree that it is the right thing to do, Fair enough Barry wants to improve himself and win things but as has already been stated Manchester City will NOT win the premiership next season and if they do I shall be only to glad to print this off and eat my words

Rant over I’m now off to watch Holland in the cricket he he he he he he

Agree ,money is ruining the game but it will go tits up eventually, just like it did in Italy, years ago, when these

sugar-daddies dont want to play any more, there is only one way these clubs will go.

I know FIFA and UEFA come up with some stupid ideas, but the new 6-5 rule wont do the Premiership any

harm.If the foriegners wanted more money and couldnt get to the club they wanted to play for because

they had there full quota of foriengers,go somewhere else.

It would create a far more even playing field and more English players would get oppurtunities, therefore

the National Team would benefit as well.

I believe Man City will be under real pressure next season to be on the fringes of a champions league spot, can they win the league its possible but their form will have to be a lot better than it was last season.

I'll agree with you that money doesn't guarantee you success you only need to look at spurs recent record to work that out. You also seem to disagree with the Give it time only a fool thinks instant success is guaranteed so if the owners of man city think they will get instant success then hughes will be better off out of it.

one last point Man City brought in 11 players last year for a known total of 103.3 million euros a couple of transfers were undisclosed so we won't know the true final amount

and spurs brought in 14 new players for a know total of 108.7 million euros again some undisclosed transfers as well so again we won't know the true final amount spent.

But what do you think the spurs owners want for their money??

and maybe just maybe mr barry looked at how robbie keane was treated at liverpool last season and thought nah thats not for me.

I know FIFA and UEFA come up with some stupid ideas, but the new 6-5 rule wont do the Premiership any

ah the old 5+6 rule that the english premier league rejected??? and the EU say is illegal???

the uefa proposal is probably the only one that stands a chance but that won't help the national team as players classed as home grown are players that have been developed by the club for 3 years between the ages of 15-21

Fair enough Barry wants to improve himself and win things but as has already been stated Manchester City will NOT win the premiership next season

that's a bold statement, they are the richest club in the world? Chelsea were a very mediocre club going no where fast before their Billions arrived.... If it's wisely invested in the right players then no reason why Man City won't copy Chelsea and buy their way to short term success......?

Long term success though is harder to manage especially if you have money at your disposal, Chelsea had the best midfield around two titles in a row and then went out and bought Ballack and Deco etc just because they could...didn't need them, didn't fit, didn't work......

The game is probably already past the point of no return and will eventually implode, this level of spend and excess cannot be sustained as pointed out it's the fans who ultimately pay for all this and there is only so much they can keep paying.... why should footballers expect to get £100,000 a week, it's not a job! they are arsing around playing sport with their mates, something we all love doing, some of us paying £3 a week to do so.

If they want to do it for the badge, play for the club, play for the fans then wage cap them all to £50,000 a year basic and then bonus payments for cup success... It's a wage packet that most blokes on the street would be more than happy with.

Clubs would be able to use money then to invest in the clubs, build new stadiums, community programs etc and ticket prices would allow all fans to watch their clubs.

I still enjoyed watching football in the 70's and 80's before the money arrived, and I'm sure I'd still enjoy watching it after the money has gone.....

I think QPR are the richest club in the world. Combine fortunes from Mittal, Eclestone and Briatore.

Not that they are spending big on players.

I wouldnt say Chelsea were mediocre before Abramovich arrived. They were steadily improving and were breaking through with FA Cup and Cup Winners Cup success under people like Gullit, Vialli and Ranieri.

The money just pushed them to the next level. Teams like Man City are starting from a lower base so will maybe take longer.

Oh and I'm not a Chelsea fan!!
