West Cornwall Clubs With Future Senior League Ambition

Recommended Posts

It’s the end of the season and soon respective leagues and clubs will have their AGM's.

Mawnan pretty much are going to be contenders to win the FHFL each year but the club don’t wish at present to progress into Senior football. Illogan won the Mining League this season unfortunately they already have a side in the Combination league.

So what other clubs have the announced their ambition to gain senior football status apart from the clubs below:

Carharrack (FHFL)

Chasewater (FHFL)

Falmouth Athletic (FHFL)

Mousehole (FHFL) (1st Team in SWPL)

Troon (Mining)

Storm (Mining)

Many years ago FHFL was seen as the only way of getting into Senior football but times have changed for the better and you can now stand a chance of getting into Senior football via the Mining League. Do you really need your own facilities any more for example Portreath who successfully gained promotion into combination by using council amenities?

I don't know how everyone else feels about Portreath gaining promotion using council amenities. But my team felt a little hard done by..... Our pitch was late being sorted out for the season, (about 6weeks)

The grass when it was finally ready was always around your knees, and lines marked once in a season. Not great hey, but what do you expect when the head guy to do with pitches just happens to be part of Portreath.

Portreaths gain everyone else in the areas loss.

Richard, wouldn't the sensible thing be for the Combo to reduce the numbers and form a Division 1(re.ECPL).This way more ambitious Clubs could be elevated.Regarding facilities, perhaps the requirements could be less stringent for Div.1 while it settles down.

Moreover, all the Clubs mentioned would compare favourably with Perranwell(!)
