Mining League Result 30/5

Recommended Posts

Camborne SOM 1 Newlyn NA 4 H/T 0-3

Newlyn deservedly won this final league match played at Wendron and with it the Mining League Division Two title.

The visitors dominated the first half but were unable to break down a dogged home rearguard until ten minutes before half time when their striker raced away.Although a virtual spectator,Newlyn's keeper,Peter Bainbridge made two excellent saves to preserve the lead.A cushioed header followed and a third arrived before half time.

School came into the game more in the second half but their neat approach play was easily mopped up by the Newlyn defence and behind them,Bainbridge made another excellent couple of blocks when called upon.A deflected shot gave School hope with fifteen to go but a fourth goal sealed the point in the closing minutes.

Game superbly refereed by Dave Dodson.

Well done to Newlyn Non Athletico, the table does not lie,you were the best team in the league.

Only things missing were the cup and trophies.Where were the league officials?

Newlyn deserved there win today that saw them secure the mining league 2 title this year. Unfortunately 13 games in the month eventually saw School of Mines unable to keep up with the pace of the game in the second half. Extremely well reffed today probably the best ref we have had this year especially his rulings on the advantage law.

Congratulations to Newlyn to winning the league this year as it was very much deserved, also congatulations to Chacewater for putting up a very good fight both teams deserve to go up to mining 1 and hopefully push on. :clapper:

CSM although had a very gd run in to the season finished on a low but can hopefully build on and push for a deserved promotion next season only falling foul of the fixture congestion late in the season for the past two years. Also a very well done to everyone in Mining 2 this year as many games were much more competitve than previous seasons.

See you next season

Camborne SOM 1 - 4 Newlyn

Thanks to SOM for their hospitality yesterday. There was a great deal of pressure on us Crabs going into the game, knowing that we needed a point from the best footballing side in the division, but everybody in a red and black shirt gave it their all and came out triumphant.

The first half was a superb example of how devastating we have been at times this season. Unable to find a way through for 30 minutes despite dominating possession, until Adam Strowger netted his 47th of the season with a cool finish under the keeper. Keeper Pete Bainbridge then made an outstanding save to keep us in front, and minutes later it was two, with man of the match Andrew Palmer heading in a Leo Gwynn cross. Gwynn then made it three, when he converted calmy after a brilliant break down the right. Half-time 0-3.

As expected, with the wind in the second half, School had a lot of the possession, but never really posed a threat in the final third. With about 25 to play, a School strike found its way in via a deflection, but Newlyn never looked like crumbling and five minutes from the end Gwynn sealed the victory with his second, before enduring a pile-on.

A massive well done to everybody at Newlyn Non Athletico - this season has been fantastic for the club and everybody involved. There have been times where we could barely field 11 players, and yet over 30 games we showed excellent spirit and determination despite losing a couple of key players half-way through due to injury and other commitments. Comiserations to Chacewater, who led the pack for most of the season and have pushed us all the way to the wire.

I know there is such a thing as being gracious when victorious, as we have been throughout the season...but I'd just like to give a special mention to TimboTastic of Madron, who openly came on here a few months ago declaring how rubbish we were...the table does not lie, we were the best team in the league and we go up to Mining 1 as champions. CRAB ARMY.

Mining 2

TMS v Madron

TMS unable to raise a side 3 points to Madron

Think you've been given the wrong information there Timbo.

Threemilestone were able to raise a side for both an early kick off that we wanted and the half two kick off that you requested. We agreed to the later kick off as it was evident not many players were bothered about missing the cup final, but unfortunetaly we were told there were no referee's available for the game. Hope this helps put things straight. :smiley20:

Congratulations to the Crabs on winning divvy 2.
