Jimbo
Following their narrow defeat a fortnight ago to St Teath in a cup final The G Vets ended their very successful season with a well earned 3 - 2 victory over Downderry on Tuesday night at Mount Wise Newquay. In an even first half of few real chances the live wire Roger Bonaparte put Downderry ahead after a misjudgment by "Charlie" Rowe in The G goal. 5 minutes before the break, The G equalised when Keargh McHugh scored when the ball broke to him after a squirmish in the Downderry penalty area. The game opened up more in the second half and two excellent goals from Sean Rooney saw the G take a two goal lead. However Bonaparte scored his second goal of the night to reduce the areas to make it an uncomfortable final period for the Godolphin side which held out for a great win in front of their enthusiastic supporters. The Downderry goalie was awarded with the man of the match award. Well done and thanks to Alan and Derek the G management team for a very successful and enjoyable season.
