SpongeBobSafeHands
scorers for st day were. sam cooper 30yds scorcher, andrew pooley, ? , and Paul Hoskins (gk) with a sreamer from 18yds, keeper got a hand to it but the bend and power beat him. the scoreline was a true reflection of the game as at half time the saints were 3-1 to the good. in the changing room the manager pulled out 12 peices of paper and we all drew one each, this was to determine our positions for the second half. For example Paul hoskins the keeper played on the left wing, lee gribble went in goal and so on and so forth until all the positions were filled. all in all a spectacle of a football match. cornishteddyboy
Diary of a Groundhopper. Arrived at Clifden Close, Mullion in plenty of time to find a parking space. In fact if it wasn't for the teams out on the pitch warming up you wouldn't realise there was a match on, the crowd was so sparse to start. The sun was shining and it was one of those rare days when the wind wasn't blowing a gale across the pitch. Mullion once again had a very young side whilst Culdrose had what looked a fairly strong side. The match kicks off with Culdrose playing down the slope towards the clubhouse. On 13mins Culdrose attack down the middle. A shot from 20yds goes in. The keeper misses but Mullion's Lee Cattran makes a one-handed palm away to avoid a goal. The ref has no choice but to red card him. Chris Morris steps up to take the resulting spot kick. He shoots low to keeper Rob Rosevear's left. The keeper gets down to knock the ball away and also gets a hand to the rebound to prevent the score. At this time the match is all one way with Culdrose missing a couple of sitters. On 21mins they get a corner on the right. The ball comes in, is knocked to the left, over everyone. A low cross into the box and Anthony Rowntree has a knock in from 4yds out to make it 0-1. Again Culdrose push but are caught repeatedly off-side. Just over the half hour they increase their lead. They break through the middle. Morris tries a long shot from 30yds which the keeper lets slip through his hands into the nets. 0-2 after 35mins. Culdrose have a goal dissallowed for offside plus again miss a couple of sitters. H-T Mullion have first chance of second half when a long shot dips and rattles the crossbar. We get 15mins of fairly even play. Culdrose then work left, cross to Rowntree who knocks the ball up and over the keeper, who once again gets his hands on it but the ball again slips through and over him into the net. 62mins 0-3. 4mins later Rowntree gets his hat-trick. Culdrose down the left, a low cross and a simple tap in from 8yds. 0-4 after 66mins. A couple of minutes later Cudrose complete the scoring when ex-Porthleven player Jamie Thirkle tries a shot only to see the keeper parry it. The rebound fall kindly for him and he knocks it in from 10yds. 0-5 after 68mins. Culdrose continue to dominate till the end of the match. Final crowd figure 24. Guest
Portreath 2 Falmouth Town 3 A good game played with portreath aiming to prove 1 thing.. they can have a laugh. Thats exactly what they did. Both teams played weak sides in order to rest players for Sundays cup final. Yet an entertaining game full of laughs and jokes. So nice one to Falmouth for being good sports too. Falmouth named 6 south western players in team line up for final? Surely a Sign they know we wont roll over and will battle til the end. Shame they have to do that, but hey, never mind. A very good luck to both teams for the final, Heres to an exciting game and Sunday night Boooooooze sesh!
