Arsene & Adebayor-Betrayed or facing facts??

Recommended Posts

Splashed across the back pages today is all about Arsene feeling let down by the questions put to him (in rather sarcastic fashion i have to say) at the recent AST Q&A.

And then there are the stories of Adebayor feeling betrayed by the fans for not chanting his name enough to help him through his difficult season.

My question to both is-is this betrayal or the reality of facing facts and having to handle the truth?

Arsene- What a manager he has been since at the helm bringing great success up until 2005 and then nothing-now with the board and himself coming out every season saying there is money to spend but he chooses not to-im afraid Arsene you have only yourself to blame for that one but on the other hand, he should have been treated with a hell of alot more respect than he was at the AST Q&A-standing before them is the clubs most successful manager in its history!! yes we have gone 4 seasons without anything but did we become customed to winning because of Arsenes immediate success? probably, but no club/fan should expect to win something every season (apart from utd) as the competition has become so hard! Now unless the board and Arsene have been lying to us about transfer funds-possibly saying there is when there isnt due to stadium funding-if there isnt id rather they come out like men and say sorry guys, we have no money for transfers due to stadium payments- i think all the fans would then appreciate them alot more-and lets be honest what other manager other than Ferguson perhaps would have done a better job than Arsene this season with a squad full of young and some below average/average players??

Adebayor- In my eyes what a tit! Betrayal, il tell you about betrayal SON! You score 30 goals last season and think your the best in the world-when you signed for us you were a no-body clumsy infront of goal, missing open-goals (portsmouth game springs to mind-2 open goals and missing the target from 3yrds!). Arsenal put you on the map-we worked with you, improved you and turned you into a goalscoring machine last season-then you have the cheek to hold the club to ransom over a pay rise because of it!!! If you dont get 100k+ a week you will go to AC Milan that is betrayl!! Coming out and saying you will be an Arsenal player next season at an adidas press confrence and saying you love the club then minutes later saying you are open to offers from AC and would love to play for them?? Then when the dust settled and you got your new contract and scored a penalty in a meaningless friendly comp and celebrated by kissing the Arsenal badge you thought that would win the fans over from your recent c****ish antics?? what a shallow minded c***t!! that my friend is not betrayal that is GREED---off with you boy!!! fnas at any club are like elephants-they never forget!

It's got to that point in the season where newspapers are running out of decent stories to print so they are beginning to make mischief. Personally, I think - and hope - Wenger will stay, so I'm not too worried about what went on at the shareholders meeting. We haven't won anything for ages, but we haven't got the right to win anything. We have to earn that right. It's not too many years since Man Utd hadn't won the league for about 25 years and some fans were calling for Ferguson's head. How times change! We need to produce consistent performances on the pitch and I think we are only a couple of players short of that. As for Adebayor I wouldn't be too sad at seeing him go. If he wants to go to Italy then cash in. He earns plenty of money and his performances this season haven't been up to it.

About 19 years ago since Ferguson won his first trophy with United! I was a fairly young man then, now I'm old and grey! :D

Since 1990 Ferguson has built a number of good sides with a seamless transition between them. Wenger has not shown the ability to do that.

I think thats a little harsh on Wenger. How many managers have been as succesful as Fergie. None. Fergie is a different class to any manager to anybody in the world at the moment and one of the all-time great managers (if not the greatest).

Wenger on the other hand is a quality manager who has not only turned a mid-table Premiership team into one of the top sides in Europe and since he has been at Arsenal he has raised the standard of English football and help the Premiership become the top league it is today. He has won 3 Premiership titles and 4 FA Cups and his Arsenal team set the record for most unbeaten matches in league football. Not only that he brought out the best in (and to a degree help create) the legends that are Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry, amognst others.

He is in my opinion the 2nd best manager in the world at the moment behind Fergie and has been for the last 10 years.

Any Arsenal fan that boos him, calls for his job or disrespects him should be ashamed of himself. I believe he is on the verge of creating his 3rd great Arsenal team, however if he leaves now (which i dont think he will) Arsenal are in big trouble.

How is what Man on the Post said "A little harsh on Wenger"?.

All he's said is that Ferguson HAS been able to CONTINUALLY churn out teams that CAN win trophy after trophy, title after title, year after year by replacing necessary players with better players and therefore maintain success, whilst at the same time pointing out that Wenger HASN'T..

How is it harsh if it's true?

Even the most ardent of followers such as Mangle and Midfield have expressed their disappointment at not winning something AGAIN, So how come you've never told them they are being harsh?.

Thanks for that Coopsie. Couldn't have put it better myself!

I think I'm right is saying that only once since 1991 have United gone 2 seasons without winning a major trophy. Arsenal have now gone 4 seasons and, in my opinion, unless they sign some experienced players to support their excellent youngsters may not win anything next season.

No need for thanks mate, I'm just stating facts and speaking with logic and most importantly, pointing out that you DIDN'T say anything harsh or out of order. "Simples" :P

It now appears that Andre Arshavin has been reported as to asking Arsenal to re-negociate his current

contract, because the tax system in this country takes almost half of his £80,000 a week wages.

Did'nt take him to long,to show his true colours.

I know he was demanding £100,000 a week when he was talking to Spurs.

This is just what Wenger needs, with supporters starting to get a bit p---ed off with things at The Emirates.

Adebayor behaving like he does.

Van Persie refusing to discuss a contract extension.

Continuous rumours about Fabregas.

You have also go the power struggle in the Boardroom.

Hmmm. :glare:

Not really that happy. 4th isn't good enough I'm afraid. However, it could have been worse but saying that just one defeat in our last 23 matches is excellent form in anyone's league. Do you agree? Finishing where you did after the dradful start you had was pretty good as well. What do you need to do to make progress is the $64M question I think.
