Thanks Roy, being a mid-Cornwaller I don’t get news from darkest Falmouth and beyond, but am impressed, both with his journalism and your knowledge. Perhaps I should just shut up about things I know nothing about (it’ll never happen)!

What do you mean comic book character?
I can assure you I am very real and despite some aging joints, still up for a kick about in the park.
Unfortunately the hair has mostly gone, probably too much blond highlights in the 80s.
Still meet up with Bobby of the Blues, Billy Dane (of the boots fame) and the lads from Lags Eleven for the occasional cup of tea. Unfortunately Jack and Jimmy have never been heard of since being kidnapped during a preseason tournament in Asia back in the late 90s. A great storyline that sadly went terribly wrong.
My autobiography is still available on ebay and all good book shops.  Times have been a bit tough of late so please consider buying a copy yo help a struggling ex-pro.
    Happy 2020 to all.

Throughout this forum (and in every club around the country) players who play whilst not registered or under a false name are highlighted as ‘illegal’ and players who are parachuted in from higher ranked teams to win certain games are highlighted as ‘ringers’. The clubs, fans and players themselves know this and there is certainly no serious harm to a players reputation as a consequence - most players consider it a matter of pride to be held in such esteem. As many are paid, there is also no suggestion of them suffering financial loss as a consequence - so there is no defamation, at very worst a poor use of certain definitions of a word
A little knowledge of a topic is not always a good thing.
I have intentionally cut back on match reports and comments as I am fed up of the antic of some (it used to be the likes of Big Al’s continual goes at Falmouth or the FA) who totally distract from discussions about local football - and now new additions, who whilst obviously having a right to voice their opinions, do little, for me, to further my enjoyment of local football.
Its a shame as match reports and rivalries about football have noticeably dropped and pointless garbage increased (IMO).

    Latest Helston rumours.
Helston Chairman and Steve Massey both in Portugal (this is not a rumour and can easily be confirmed with a twitter search) for the Nations League Cup and scouting new signings for upcoming season. Original plan was to agree terms with John Stone to help bolster the Helston defence.  But after his display yesterday, they decided to go after Harry Kane  as not only did he put in a better defensive display last night than Stones, but Massey was overheard saying he would be a useful back up if either Goldsworthy or Eddy are injured, or get lost walking the mile from their homes to Kellaway Park on home match days.
in order to help raise the $100 million signing on bonus for Kane, Helston AFC will be appearing in the new season of Dragons Den where they are asking for £1,000,000 in exchange for 1% equity in HAFC.  Paul Hendy Chairman said he would be willing to throw in a couple of season tickets and a half time pasty if needed to sweeten the deal. The other  £99 million is coming from the home games 50/50 raffle, where tickets will now cost £1 million each.
Before you all scoff at this information it must be true, as I was told it by regular CFF contributor Leeds Utd, while sharing a pint with him at the “Pigs with Wings” exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Show.  Following several pints of triple strength “Bodmin Baloney”  I left him at the cattle ring where he was busy shovelling the bullshit.
    Best regards to all

Just heard the Kane deal has fallen through, but Jordan Annear signing for Real Madrid after Eden Hazard decides to sign for St Austell.

Indeed sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit, but it also often the funniest (Older can be quite clever at it)
The problem with your statement Al is that you are not a “supporter”.
The definition of a supporter from the Collins English Dictionary is as below. Unfortunately, you neither seem to agree with the ideas/aims of Falmouth FC (or the CFA, the SWPL, local referees ......) and never offer to help them.  Your posts certainly do not suggest you want any of them to succeed.
    1. transitive verb
If you support someone or their ideas or aims, you agree with them, and perhaps help them because you want them to succeed. I will however agree with your comment yesterday regarding the BBC Radio Commentary.  Absolutely appalling. Neither commentators had done any background research on either team or the players. At one point they were even laughing about how one of them kept referring to Saltash as St Austell.

Zero.  Last paying position in the Premier is 4th which collects £300 (first pays £2,000)
Right now the teams in the upper part of the table should be chasing position/points for FA Cup eligibility (assuming their ground is up to standard of course).  Even losing in the Extra Preliminary Rd of the FA Cap paid £750 this year. Winners of the Extra Prelim Rd got  £2,250 and you are then guaranteed another £960 even if you lose the next round.  Thus the total income for lasting just one round of the FA cup is over £3,000.  Significant amount of money at this level.

Congratulations to Barbs, a clear winner with an uncanny knack of being able to pick the correct scorelines.
Great season, albeit a bit of a scramble at the end.
Will be interesting to see if teams are willing to spend the money to be competive for next season, or will see it as an opportunity to consolidate their teams to build a squad more suited for the new “Cornwall Premier League”
Good luck to all in for 2018/19 and other thah FA Cup/Vase games the last season we will have to consider the effects of long distance travel into our predictions!
