Superb 3rd goal from Tom Harris, great feet, good strength, and what a strike!!! Dane won’t be chuffed with the two free headers in the 6 yard box but great character shown by his lads in this game to go on and win it. The main question for me though is what the f#*k has happened to those lovely Ashes box nets I saw pre season!!  😁! 😲😳🤔🤭😢

It’s a shame that people feel the need to slate other people and their business’ and have to hide behind an alias to do it. Perhaps a trip to the Marsh is in order @FootballChat and you can cast your expert eye over the pitch and show us all where we are going wrong. In my opinion the pitch is looking fantastic along with plenty of other clubs who choose to use Steve @Pitch Care Guru. My players have been delighted to use our pitch since Steve has made the fantastic surface for us.

As Older said, Mass seems to be Marmite for the good Cornish footie folk. A lot of people have an opinion on Mass I find without really knowing him as a person. I stick up for him quite regularly and was lucky enough to play alongside him for my local club Truro City as a 18/19 year old kid really, and it was an education to watch his movement, touch, class and finishing but most of all his encouragement and great advice for a young striker. Played with him for Cornwall at 19 for my first call up to the senior team away to Sussex and his professionalism was really inspiring, in bed before everyone else with a crossword! The other strikers that day were Bradley Swiggs and Graham Nicholls! Knew I was on the bench the next day!! 😀 Mass tried to sign me a couple of times when he was City manager and although very persuasive and my home town club I was never going to leave Falmouth who I loved and still do to this day!💛🖤. He even called me up when he was Cornwall manager and I was 32 at the time playing for Wadebridge and it was always a privilege to be involved with his squads and teams, so knowledgeable, great organiser, and so passionate, you couldn’t wait to get out on the pitch and play for him. I think it’s fantastic that an ex pro can be bothered to come down here and be so passionate about Cornish football for the last 30/35 odd years and put so much into our local game. I’m sure any club would like a Mass involved in it to be honest as Magpie has already said at the outset. I realise he divides opinion, and might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but ain’t we all!? If you don’t know him, get to know him, Mass has got time for people and he’s a top bloke and I could personally listen to him talk football for hours! Everyone’s got an opinion, and this one is mine. I’m sure people will say great things about Mass and no doubt he’s probably upset a few over the years, I’ve been involved in Cornish football for 45 years and I’ve only just started upsetting people this last month!! 🤔😂 For me, I’d say thanks Mass for all your interest, input and thanks for embracing Cornish football for all these years mate 👍👏🏼⚽️

PS) Thanks for the kind words Magpie, Deacs really does all the work and what another great servant to Cornish football he is! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 For me it’s just great to chat to an old mate every week about Cornish football that we both love and have a bit of a laugh along the way👍⚽️ Thanks to guys like you for listening and supporting it these last few years, appreciate it 👍⚽️

I feel I have to put the record straight here ! The problem we have is we have a very long injury list which after last night became even longer !
Last night we had 6 players from our squad missing hence why we asked for help with numbers.
We had 14 players last night one of which was a 16 year old! take out the 3 lads that helped us out and we would have been down to a bare 11 .
I would have thought it would be better to talk about the game it was a cracking game for the neutral and could have gone either way.
Yes it did not go our way and sometimes things don’t but you have to admit we have pushed Falmouth , Saltash and Liskeard all the way in our recent games and ended up with nothing to show for it! If we keep playing like this things will change.

In all seriousness we had a great trip to Mullion in the Senior Cup last year and Rob and the lads down there were great, looking forward to it.
Altarnun v Polperro also has the makings of a very good game too!

Yeah I’m home here in tears, throwing my toys around, absolutely distraught that a few hoot toots hiding behind an alias name didn’t like what I said!! 🙄🙄 The lads that actually know me have backed me up as an honest and fair bloke and that’s good enough for me, couldn’t give a shit about the other few gobby numpties if I ’m honest. Just realised you’re better off keeping your opinions good or bad to yourself on here these days and avoid the saddo’s. Getting a bit boring even for me now so any chance of drawing a line under it cos can’t be assed to keep talking about it, I’ve actually got a life to get on with!!  🙄👍

Know how you feel Rappo, my reports are the same, just honest reviews & reflections of various different local fixtures, but as soon as people don't like to hear anything negative they go all defensive & ruin what used to be a good open forum.
That's why I don't bother anymore Rappo, local football has changed dramatically in recent times, best just to keep opinions to yourself as the snowflakes on here will only melt 🤣🤣

Goals from Blair, Easterbrook, Payn & WestallC.
Lineup: Piper, Carter, Monk, Rogers, Hussey, Payn, Robbins, Rowe, Blair, WestallC, Easterbrook.
    Subs: Macleod, Eversfield, Ferguson, Brayson.
Pre-match I'd have taken the result, but I feel underwhelmed with the final score considering the amount of chances missed. Would've rather not have had the lengthy traffic delays too, especially captain and goalkeeper arriving 15mins before KO.
Luckily, the delays didn't effect us too much, with a strong start resulting in Adam Blair scoring in the 9th minute. This gave us confidence to put our stamp on the game and not long after Robbins scored a 2nd from the edge of the box with a drive into the bottom left after a lay off from WestallC. The goal was chalked off by the referee due to Robbins' "set me" communications!!! The first of many bizarre shouts. One thing we did lack in the first half was isolating Easterbrook in 1v1 situations where he's dangerous. I only recall two times in the whole half we managed this, one resulting in him smashing the crossbar from 20yds+ with a thunderous drive. There were shouts of it crossing the line as the ball came down but I was unsure myself. The 2nd time Easterbrook found himself against the full back was 2-0 on 40minutes. A bit of skill, cut inside and a low drive took a big deflection to wrong foot the keeper. But deserved on play. The 3rd came quickly on 42mins from a superb team goal led by Payn who had the ball numerous times with pass and move which he finished himself for a HT 3-0 scoreline. Aside from these chances, set pieces were a threat throughout the half, with Rowe or WestallC having an effort well blocked but over the line not given. The opposite happened to us last week so swings and roundabouts. Other bizarre decisions by the official in the first half were freekicks given for shouts of "time", "switch it" "step over it" among others. Very confident the Laws do not cover good communication as an offence. However, these examples were for both sides so he was consistently wrong at least.
2nd half was a lacklustre affair for Torpoint and one I was disappointed with really. HT was discussing putting a marker down, be ruthless, don't think it's over, etc. But the intensity and desire was not there. WestallC was played through one on one, reluctant to shoot on his left, turned inside the defender to lay back to Rowe, but as ever leaned back and the shot flew over the bar from inside the box. A big chance to put new wind in the sails. Early changes gave a young bench more experience and some added drive at least. 17yr olds Macleod and Eversfield were keen to impress and both were energetic and showed their potential. Robbins looked confused for a minute when he again said "set me" to a team mate, for the ref to ignore this time?! The majority of the 2nd half was played in eerie silence as no one knew what was allowed in this alien rule. Ferguson entered the field for his 2nd debut after a brief hiatus at Mud City Reserves, and a superb cross from the right put him in on goal near the penalty spot, but his left foot half-volley was hit wide of the post to ruin a warm return for the forward. Eversfield in particular showed endeavour and wasn't content with the 3-0 score line. He found himself past the full back again and again and was honest about not wanting to keep chasing him. A superb cross from Eversfield to the back post late in the game was met by a textbook downward header from skipper WestallC for 4-0. Another game where he got the goal his all round game deserved.
Other positives to take were that we won (obviously), despite missing 8 players, most of whom are regular starters. 2x 2nd teamers helped out inc 18yr old Monk at centre half and the experienced Martin Piper having a rest from managerial duties for the weekend, again showing the club ethos works. The biggest positive for me though was finishing the game with 3x 17yr olds on the pitch and 2x 18s inc MOTM for me Josh Payn. Much better from the team the last few weeks. No game for the 3rds now until October. Time for a few injuries to heal and festivals to bugger off! Between now and then I know a few will help the club out in any games required.

    PENRYN   (0)   1        Leivers 84’
    CAMELFORD  (1)  2        OG 14,   Patterson 49’
    ATT:   67
    REF:  Neil Hunnisett  8/10
Already well explained by Bob with his always honest review virtually spot on. The Camels came into this match fresh from their superb 5-0 away win at Newquay in midweek with Penryn having a midweek break after their 1-2 home defeat to Dobwalls last Saturday. Despite that it was definitely the visitors that started on the front foot and a great cross from the left almost saw young Cam Hutchinson head home at the far post but he was denied by Penryn keeper Adam Robarthan at virtually point blank range after 12 minutes. Nevertheless they only had to wait 2 more minute when Andy Boxall drilled a ball across goal but it inadvertently came off the hosts skipper Russell Mays toe as he went to block and the ball squeezed in at the near post despite Robarthans best efforts to keep it out. On 20 minutes Nick Boase sent in a dangerous far post free kick where Bradley Leivers leap saw him challenge visiting keeper Josh Colwill with the loose ball falling to Jake Shaw who was clipped as he shot over the bar. Agree with Bob on this one, good spot from the ref but soft if it’s given against you! Some may say good spot from the ref but the contact was pretty minimal to be fair. Given bout 3/4 times out of 10 I would say! Morgan Vallejo stepped up but for the 2nd week running put his spot kick wide of the target to continue Penryns penalty kick jinx!! Think it’s something like 9 missed out the last 12 taken! 😲 With this Camelford continued in the ascendancy with Ed Harrison pulling more strings than a puppeteer with Charlie Hambley in behind playing the perfect holding role. Great to see these two smashing lads grow into such accomplished footballers at this level, team mates of Jacks when Glynn Hoopers superb county youth side of 2017 went all the way to the national youth cup final beating the likes of footballing hot beds Lancashire and Durham along the way before a narrow 2-1 defeat to Middlesex in the final at Barnets Underhill stadium. A season I’m sure none of them will ever forget!? 👌👏🏼  I know I won’t, I turned down a guest spot on Soccer AM after scoring my 2000th goal to watch the semi final ! Never mind! Tubes was a bit of a ***** anyway!! 🙄🙄 Good play from the impressive attacking right back Denham Guild saw Steve Mcmanaman lookalike Hutchinson snatch his shot wide after 36 minutes. Some fine last ditch tackles from May, Boase and Billy Williams saw any further threat on the home goal adverted for now. Penryn started to pile on the pressure looking for an equaliser just before the break but missed two golden chances like Bob mentioned when a great tackle on Ryan Reeve saw the ball fall to James Daniell 12 yards out but his side foot effort was saved by the foot of Colwill before a Vallejo free kick was headed over by Boase and then the pacy Reeve got on the end of Leivers fine ball over the top but he was also denied by Colwill rushing off his line to block with his legs.

    HT   0-1
How often do you see in football a team get bitten in the bum for not taking their chances, this was the classic case for Penryn when the Camels came out the blocks first and doubled their lead when Harrison threaded a superb pass through the eye of a needle for Cameron Patterson to run on and do what Penryn didn’t with similar opportunities and finish well. Penryn boss Harry Pope didn’t hang around and sacrificed Williams for Fraser Harris and Daniell for Jack Rapsey on 52 minutes. Moments later Reeve rounded Colwill but two covering defenders did well to get back and block the shot. Penryn were prompting with more and more attacks with Camelford always a threat with Bobby Hopkinson now arrived onto the pitch. In the 73rd minute a great cross from Alex Hayhoe saw the ball just elude Leivers outstretched head at the far post. 6 minutes from time good work from deep by Rapsey saw him send Hayhoe rampaging up the right and his low cross saw Reeve tussle with the big visiting defenders and the ball dropping loose for Leivers to drill his close range shot under Colwill. With 5 minutes of added time approaching the hosts could sniff an equaliser against their high flying opponents and only a great last ditch tackle on Reeve denied him going clear again. The 95th minute saw a clever touch by Rapsey on the edge of the area to tee up Vallejo but his goal bound shot had the sting taken off it with a brave block and ended up in Colwills grateful gloves along with the blast from the refs final whistle and another valuable 3 points to 2nd placed Camelford. Reg in his 31st year of management at Camelford will know his team can play better but still took all 3 points. Sign of a good team that! Popey will take several positives from the game seeing his team take the game to the visitors last 25 minutes who will be up around the top come May. Fair to say Penryn have adapted and fitted in well to SWPL football and could and should be on several more points than they are to date. Penryn make the half a mile trip up the road on Wednesday to take on the all conquering Falmouth Town in a local derby league cup tie.Town are rampant this season clear at the top after their 7-2 win at Wadebridge. Good luck to the Camels for the season. Good club with nice people and deserving all they get at the moment 👏🏼
*** An interesting footnote for anyone...have you seen the movie🍿 The Keeper? It’s about Burt Trautmann the former German prisoner of war who broke his neck and played on!!! In the 1956 FA cup final for Manchester City against Birmingham City. Well they made a film about it and it’s on bbc 2 Sunday night at 10pm, well worth a watch, great movie!! Burts team mate in that final was full back Bill Leivers who I met several years ago at work when he was a patient. Had a great half hour footie chat with him on my break, what a lovely chap he was too. You’ve probably guessed the link by now!? Penryns goalscorer today was no other than Bills grandson Bradley Leivers!! Small football world eh!! 🤗⚽️👍

Very sad that a village team that has always been a good place to visit despite the winter weather conditions that at times would blow you off your feet, should have to withdraw from the league.
There are times when it all becomes too much for the tiny crews that run these teams, and it's not before they fold that people realise what their neighbourhood has lost.
Good luck for the future Lanreath, lets hope someone wil take the reins and resurrect the club again before too long
