  2. To celebrate two men involved heavily at Penzance Afc over the years and indeed local sport in Cornwall. Ex player and manager Dean Mooney has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and is intending to run 50km in 7 days to raise money for the MND charity. A charity match has been arranged for FRIDAY JULY 16 at Penlee Park,Penzance between a Dean Mooney XI and Peter's son ,current Magpies' Chair,Nick George XI. (Kick off TBA). All monies raised to go to the MND Association. I am looking for 3 match officials for the evening willing to give their efforts for this great cause. Please contact me below. Charlie Farley Pz club sec. 07754784140 (best on W App) Thank you
  3. What is it with people trying to 'get around' the guidelines. As I've said elsewhere, the majority of those taking part in upcoming games (age 16-40)will not have had one jab yet let alone two,and will almost certainly be sharing transport when told not to. Thus they will be continuing to spread this virus. Just give it all a rest until next season and give everyone an earlier chance of getting back to 'normal'.
  4. Seem to remember Mr Beer has form in watching Penzance games from behind a fence/hedge.
  5. Wouldn't mind more info on that game Teddyboy. I remember watching Penzance play there circa '73,'74? Us travelling (young) supporters boo the team running out in red shirts ,then recognise Russel Williams. Penzance were in a change strip ! The ground was/is in the heart of the village.
  6. It was only a few days ago that clubs in lower divs of Football League, being urged NOT to use changing rooms. I think those pros are still getting tested. What hope is there for mere mortals down this way ? And just to conclude a season? Come on ,look at the bigger picture. Football pales into insignificance. Stay safe everyone.
  7. Good idea. I'd say restart in September, allowing the cricketers to complete as full season without football overlapping.
  8. And THAT amazing mazey run by Lewis Goldsworthy in the second half, beating what seemed like every Mousehole player on the pitch, twice, his final pass just offside. Was reminiscent of the great midfielder Terry Williams (watching today) in the 70s.
  9. Pz and Mhole 1-1 Official paying attendance 258 plus loads of kids. Thanks to all who attended,to the players and match officials for an entertaining game plus those working behind the scenes.
  10. Not sure if above report is correct (at Port). Sin bin is for dissent. Foul language to a ref is a red card. Just saying.
  11. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the players, club officers and match officials of yesterday’s Penzance v Newquay game (and indeed to Saltash last month). Because of ongoing electrical, plumbing and roofing works everyone had to change at the Pirates Rugby Club over the road. Thanks again for your understanding and to the Pirates for the generous offer. Touchwood, normal service will be resumed for the visit of Camelford on the 19th. Charlie Farley club sec
  12. Penzance Afc are very saddened to hear of the passing of Johnny Williams. John managed the first team in the 1980s. He had a long career with British Rail and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family. More details to follow. Charlie Farley Club secretary
  13. I doubt very much whether they are getting paid handsomely, or even getting paid at all
  14. I understand that under covid guidelines that programmes are not necessary
  15. 98 deaths today. Actually i said thousands testing positive each week. In fact there were 871 positive tests just today. (its okay i accept your apology)
  16. Agree with We Two 100% As for the person that said more chance of getting killed crossing the road etc, trust me,you don’t want to catch it. I could give you details about family but won’t. There are still thousands testing positive every week. Think about also the volunteers on match days. Most are in the vulnerable category and are not prepared to risk their health. If it takes a season to get the right vaccinations or whatever then in my mind so be it.
  17. If local football is only football then surely bigger crowds. No social distancing in changing rooms so I cannot see any play yet, certainly not until testing has taken place. Why are they so slow on this?
  18. Well done to all concerned at Helston. I'm sure both the food bank and hospital will be delighted at this generous gesture. From everyone at Penzance AFC
  19. Leigh isaacs, josh turner, Daryl Richards, Callum George, tyler Buckley, luke Hart, Gary Bell, Andreas staynes, Mawgan Kewn, Anton Oliver, Jack James. subs on were Scott grant, Jacob Cleverly and Sam owen. Att 95
  20. Thank you Older. Our pitch is still has very good drainage but I'm sure that anyone looking out of their window can tell that this rain is incessant. Charlie Farley Penzance AFC Secretary
  21. Correct on both Mike If anyone would care to run the line for Penzance at Pendeen this Saturday then please give me a shout
