  1. 100% cornish, the Godolphin thank you for your support and positive comments throughout the season. You should come in the bar one day soon we'll get you a beer.
  2. Premier; Best team; parkway on their day. Best striker; landricombe Best midfielder; Exmouth winger and captain, left footed, don't know his name. Best defender; probably one of the parkway back 3. Best keeper; probably kev miller. Vast experience and some very important saves. Best surface; Bodmin. Best facilities; Tavistock. Best fans; we all love our own supporters! Biggest moaners; Exmouth or parkway - constantly surrounding the ref and screaming at every official at every game ive seen them involved in. Bodmin not far behind in 3rd. Under achievers; Newquay FC as a whole. With their facilities, structure and money they shouldn't be that far down the league. Over achievers; Godolphin. First season in prem. very thin squad of late. Lost some key players along the way. But still beat Bodmin twice, parkway, Exmouth twice (inc cup), St Austell twice amongst others and a Cup semi final and possibly a top 6 finish. All in all a very entertaining season and still lots to play for.....
  3. With comments like that nemesis why would 100% cornish or anyone else for that matter want to go to mount wise??!! Hardly a way to attract fans is it by putting them down. "The only team to win away at exmouth in 21 months" is that the best you can come up with? Is that honestly your claim to fame and the highlight of your season?
  4. Good game today at Godolphin Way. End to end, big tackles, both teams created chances and the game had the feel of a good cup tie with both teams wanting to win and pushing right up until the final whistle. It's true that G had their backs to the wall at times and came under pressure and even rode their luck at times...... But so did Parkway!! This was by no means a one sided affair or a lucky win for the G. If anything they probably created the best chances. And Parkway were lucky to have 11 men still on the pitch when the last defender brought down Lowry who was through 1 on 1 with the keeper. Good competitive game all round and I don't think anyone will have too many complaints about the final result. Well done the G. Another big scalp this season....
  5. "The Godolphin player had stooped so low to try and head, the foot was raised to clear the ball which he did - I have the photos to prove it."........ So Nemesis....... Today's Cornish guardian makes for interesting reading, especially with regards to your above comment. Page 94, top left picture, Godolphin number 5 being kicked in the face at a height of about 6foot I'd say, the Newquay player with both feet out of control and up in the air. ...... So what was it you were saying?? And what was it about those photos you had to prove the opionions you were spouting??
  6. Haha Nemesis you are ridiculous. Please, by all means, put those photos up to share. The ball was at head height when he was kicked in the face, and there were blatant slide marks INSIDE the box for that last foul that was given outside the box. Ref ruined it and cost the G 3 points. Fact.
  7. Unfortunately the outcome of this particular game definitely WAS decided by the referee. His failure to give two stone wall penalties definitely did affect the eventual result. I've given credit where credit is due lately, and defended referees along the way, but I'm afraid the ref today cost Godolphin 3 points.
  8. Not so much sour grapes, more injustice. But footballs like that sometimes. Still embarrassing that Newquay with all their money see a draw as a "great result" haha
  9. Such a shame that a weak, indecisive referee changed the outcome of this game. 2 blatant penalties, neither given. The first one a player was kicked in the face when just about to head the ball into an open net. Referee gave a drop ball outside the box!!!???!! Bottled it. 2nd one, in the last few minutes, striker goes down after twisting the defender inside out, referee gives a freekicks outside the box. Bottled it. He also let a few flying elbows from Newquay go unpunished. In fact he saw one in the first half, blatant elbow in the face, and was man enough to give a freekick, but then bottled doing anything about it. Last time I checked, an elbow to the face is a red card.
  10. Godolphin 1 - 1 Newquay. Equally as embarrassing was a few Newquay players celebrating a draw at the final whistle, as though they had won the cup final. A team with their budget and facilities, celebrating a draw at their biggest rivals - embarrassing.
  11. The ref in charge at that game did a fine job. It was a tough match, big tackles and high tempo. I'm sure he got a couple wrong along the way but who doesn't!!?? After all he's only human and being a referee is an almost impossible task. But on the day I thought he did a fine job, got the majority of decisions right. In fact I've seen him a couple of times this year and have been quite impressed each time so good luck to him. And I agree with leedsutd, it's easy to point the finger and blame someone else after a defeat, it also averts pressure from managers and/or players. But that young referee on the day definitely did not affect the eventual result.
  12. Good game at Poltair Park today. Young local lads beating over paid, over rated ego's - great to watch! A nice passage of play and a tidy finish saw Carl Rickard put St Austell 1-0 up in the first half in what was an evenly contested 45mins with Godolphin playing against the wind and rain. St Austell used the conditions to their advantage well in the first half playing long ball to quite good effect but only went in 1-0 up at the break. To be fair to the G, despite the conditions they also stuck to their guns and got the ball down and played some decent football and created a few good chances. 2nd half saw the G come out fighting, with no fear, as a solid band of brothers that play for each other and the love of the game. They played good football, on the floor when possible, to good effect. They pressed well and took the game to the opposition. G eventually equalised from a corner and that set up the game for a good final 30mins. Some big tackles and hard work from both teams but the G looked more dangerous going forward in the 2nd half, with St Austell often resorting to long ball tactics to try and get something from the game. Godolphin eventually got the winner when a shot from one striker was parried by the keeper and followed up by who else but ex St Austell player Jake Hartigan who slotted home a much deserved winner for the G. New boss Lafferty not covering himself in glory at the end by what looked like trying to start a fight with one or two G players. Sometimes people should have a bit more class and be a bit more gracious in defeat. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this one. G have done the double over St Austell this year. Well done.....
  13. Couldn't help but notice how much Newquay fans rant and rave about their support and like to discredit other teams support - especially local rivals Godolphin. HOWEVER, looking at the above stats, it's interesting to see that Godolphin have achieved a higher attendance than Newquay, and also Newquays lowest attendance is also much lower than Godolphins lowest attendance. Just sayin.....
