  1. Exactly. All credit to him for keeping his reasons private.Integrity is often in short supply.
  2. Lee you do referee honestly and like every manager and player will make the occasional mistake. This thread is not about refereeing mistakes but the inconsistencies between officials and the gulf at times between participants and officials in how seriously certain incidents are viewed. The idea of getting together to informally share views is good and something mid cornwall referees used to and I thoroughly enjoyed attending.
  3. Well done Bodmin, wanted it more, worked harder, were better organised and finished really well.Like Nanks I apologise to those who came expecting a game.Sorry we couldn't get the players to deliver the type of performance they should be delivering.Roll on Tuesday and a training session to put us back on track.still lots to play for.
  4. A little over 2k for a year was my understanding.Roughly the cost of paying officials for home games for the season.Clearly it was spent rashly as Glyn got them promoted!Nobody was getting rich at Mount Wise. Please do not make up things to support your personal bias.I have no idea what Newquay are spending now but I am confident the club will only put in what it can afford. On the Truro front, these young talented youngsters will learn from experience and excellent coaching and will continue to develop.I am delighted that local lads are getting the chance to play at this level.
  5. Yes some good goals from St Austell despite a disappointing first half. However some of the delivery from wide was quality. Newquay are always going to miss players like Welds and Jack Bray Evans.I am sure their effort tonight when bolstered by players returning will see them climb the table.Always a pleasure to visit Mount Wise ,so many quality people behind the scenes and always hospitable.
  6. Sorry, way off the mark.Firstly the club is completely behind Dan and Lee is only interested in getting fit again.Dan not happy with performances but last night will have helped,as will the news that Hodgey is back running. No story here for the rumour merchants.
  7. This thread epitomises what is good and bad about this forum.Good in that the rubbish that is expressed by some ,is quite amusing and bad in that unfounded rumours are spread without thought.Alan Carey suffering on a different thread.Let me assure you Dan is very much the manager and will remain so.Secondly the club is not offering Lee a living ,just a chance to enjoy playing with a good bunch of lads who are desperate to win something. There are people who enjoy the game and not everybody is a mercenary as assumed by those not in the know.He trained earlier in the week.Quiet ,unassuming and hard working.Just a great attitude,in line with that of all the others who trained.I rarely post but couldn't let this set of Chinese whispers gain credibility.
  8. Such sad news.My condolences to all the family.Rex was so kind to me in my time at Sticker. He epitomised what makes his club special.A supporter who loved good football, treated people with courtesy and respect.RIP,the supporters stand will never quite be the same.
  9. Interesting read and Lee is certainly one of the better refs.Perhaps his maturity is advantageous when compared to the younger referees who are fast tracked. They can at times sadly appear to show an arrogance that masks their lack of judgement and deficiency in the skills of man management.Lee has strengths in both these areas.
  10. Excellent response Chappers. It is clear you have helped St Austell hugely and the current committee are continuing the work you began.Newquay have been astute in getting you on board and if you can stabilise their finances they certainly have the management team to move the club towards bigger and better things. Best Wishes to you and all at Newquay.
  11. No booked ,but the Ref who had a difficult game was honest enough to admit that his view wasn,t the best and having spoken to others probably got it wrong. He can only give what he sees and no beef with the Ref who is one of the best on the circuit. I think Elburton as their previous resultssuggest have the ability to be a good side but arrived today with an attitiude which was over physical to say the least.
  12. Sticker did well today against a side who despite containing some decent footballers decided their best approach was to try and kick us off the park. The young side we have showed plenty of courage to match their undoubted ability to end up comfortable winners. Unfortunately Dan Meens who was one of the victims of several shocking tackles, will have his broken leg put into plaster later in the week.I was looking forward to two unbeaten teams fighting hard to stay in the cup, sadly one team did themseves no credit by trying to bully the opposition into submission Hopefully our next opponents will attempt to beat us by playing football and proving their team to be better than ours. Get well soon Dan.
  13. Fantastic news that st dennis are returning to east cornwall football.Excellent club who have had a small number of hardworking individuals working tirelessly to keep the club going .They must be really proud that their efforts have enabled Dave rickard to put together a side that justifies senior status.I hope they do really well and the village provides them with the support they need to continue up the leagues.Unbeaten Champions again?
  14. in response to the post on the sticker post i agree that Perran just about edged it,in a game that the ref did his best to spoil.pitch didnt suit us,but i wasleasantly surprised by the style of football from the opposition and best of luck to them in the next round . But more importantly could somebody please let me know about the Pat Maloney comment in Tom trusts post .I used to play with the top man at Illoganand desperately hope that i have misread the implication of Toms words.
  15. Its good to be back Dave, particularly working with phil who has assembled a squad of youngsters with a few older heads who are all keen to learn and take on board what you work on at training. The season actually hasnt been too bad with only one defeat(avenged yesterday) and the two draws in the league both down to us conceding in time added on. We are trying to improve and bring a liittle success to Stickers small but loyal following.Undoubtedly we will have several ups and downs, there always are as youngsters learn about Senior football Hopefully you may find a spare saturday and come and watch us,we do try and play entertaining stuff and the welcome from the committee is always worth the journey. Best wishes, the coverage on the Radio is really missed when travelling home after a match.
