Went and watched a brilliant display from very talented Falmouth side but i thought Godolphin where poor tonight Ryan Barnes in the Falmouth goal a virtual spectator he could of gone and joined the brilliant F troop in a sing song they are so good and funny it must b great playing in front of fantastic supporters like that every week  . Falmouth started at a cracking pace and it wasnt long before they where2-0 up Nixon and Olly Walker the scores they where 3-0 up at half time young Ollie Patteson was having a bit of a knightmare misses catches punches it was lucky it wasnt 6 or 8 at half time ,the G s new signing Ed Timmons didnt last long he had to go off injured .Into the 2nd half Falmouth continued to dominate but the G  had 1 player who wasnt afraid to have a go at the Falmouth defence where James Ward and 1 of my all time favs Toby Clark where brilliant . Falmouth had a few players out tonight but where still great to watch the G had some out as welll but the calibre of the players Falmouth have is really good .Met some lovely people tonight Falmouth Supporters look forward to seeing them again when they come to Newquay and that will be a harder game and then they will see how good Jack Bray Evans is .Ok  Ollie Walker and Tim Nixon where tearing the G apart and Ollie WALKER had to go off injured looked like his hamstring had gone and the young lad they brought on Charlie Edney hes some player and so fast  Nice entertainment after the shit week im having . The ref had a good game my MOM for the G young Francis Pengelly gets stuck in he was really good MOM for Falmouth dont know where to start really could be any of them but its the young lad they got from Penance Callejo Stayne he dominated the midfield hello ofa player but Kellow and Balmer had good games as well . Falmouth hell of a team but the G  thought they was playing St Dennis again and couldnt string 2 passes together really 1 last thing young Ollie in the 2nd half made some  brilliant saves in th 2nd half and if it wasnt for him it would of been 10 . Well done Falmouth going to besome team that stops them being Champions it hink NEWQUAY will give them a hell of a game .Hard luck on the will get some easier matches but i think they must try harder like i had a lot in my school report. On to my next match where i will be going to Wadebridge to see Newquay play them in the Vase that is if nothing else goes wrong

Does the sun ever shine at Dobwalls ? Have been there 3 times now and it's been wet and miserable each time . Arrived at the ground to be greeted by 2 jovial chaps at the gate ,they could have been a double act ,one asked do you want a 50/50 ,the wife said only if it's the winning  ticket .The other chap said everyone's a winner ! 😁😂🤣.The look on his mates face said it all . 😁
Just got out the car when the F Troop coach turned up fresh from pre match drinks at the Highwayman pub down the road, who were delighted for the extra business I'm sure . Strolled across to the clubhouse / changing room area mingling with fellow ardent town
supporters ,to overhear a conversation between the officials and the Dobwalls manager, who was asking if they could ban the f troop boom box and the drum .😁😂🤣 .The boom box didn't travel anyway due to another engagement 😁 and no the drum couldn't be banned ,so it was banged a little harder .👍
Town started the game playing down the slope and on the front foot with some slick 1rst time passing but being thwarted by the offside trap. One ball over the top for luke Brabyn left him through on goal ,only to be brought down from behind and a booking for the defender, the dobwalls management weren't happy .A pattern that would continue throughout the game.Town went ahead after 21mins when luke Barner reacted to a loose ball and slotted it just inside the far post .The remainder of the half saw constant town attacks being denied by some tough tackling and desperate shirt pulls ,some of which the referee was quick to punish with more bookings and a verbal warning to the Dobwalls bench .Any Dobwalls attacks were being dealt with ably by the the town defence ,one minor indiscretion however left Adie Thompson sin binned for dissent about 3 mins before half time .
2nd half Dobwalls came out all guns blazing trying to take advantage of the extra man and after a period of pressure town failed to clear the ball allowing a Dobwalls player to shoot through a crowd of players for the equaliser . Town didn't let their heads drop and after some tactical changes for fresh pace ,kirk Davis for Adie Thompson, Alex Wharton for Tim Nixon and Jack Bowyer for Luke Barner town began to turn the screw .Ollie Walker was making good runs down the left, finally leaving 3 players in his wake and supplying a low cross on 71 mins for Braybyn to side foot home for his 11th of the season in front of the F Troop . Dobwalls were now struggling against the fresh legs and further goals from captain James Ward 84 mins and a penalty after Jack Bowyer was upended in the area in stoppage time ,was cooly slotted away by luke Braybyn, sending the keeper the wrong way .2 goals ,what a way to celebrate your 30th birthday .
This was a tough game despite the scoreline ,another 3 points .Top of the league with 2 games in hand .On we go to Godolphin Atlantic on Wednesday night .

golong - can’t agree for a couple of reasons. First one is this years Falmouth team are IMO better than those teams who have recently been promoted. A couple of years work by Westy has brought together a very strong squad. Second reason is that not that many top players have actually left the league - look at the players who made Helston invincible a couple of seasons back - still playing SWPL or the squads at St Blazey / Bodmin - same players as have been in SWPL for several seasons. The difference is 10 or so of there other teams have got better. On any given weekend any team can take points off each other (perhaps excluding Falmouth at the mo) - surely it is more competitive? Surely by your reckoning every league gets weaker when the better teams get promoted - it’s the way of football. I still think the top six in SWPL Could give a lot of teams in the Western league a hard game - the way it has always been.
There are worries about maintaining good teams who will do well when promoted - but some clubs are working towards that - Liskeard / Wendron / Camelford / Wadebridge / Dobwalls  etc. to name a few - as spectators I actually believe things are getting better with more competitive matches.

Whilst it’s starting to be obvious that Falmouth will win the SWPL W make no mistake Bob, as we at Saltash are finding, winning 6/7 nil in SWPL is little consolation in Toolstation. Trust me, going to Bridgwater and literally being played off the park, and they’re not having a top season. Add in the industrial levels of tackles, injuries and  yes to a degree the travelling then it’s a very different time in Step 5.

Take our first ten games- 2 of those have been brought forward by the league both away at Bitton and Brislington and we’ve been Clevedon and Bridgwater, Helston (midweek game!), games on Saturday and Monday and suddenly the Bon amie of SWPL is a long way away. You’re expected both on field and behind the scenes to be x10 more professional by the league and then the ground graders get involved!

When you think we’ve had a settled good squad for years and we’ve had issues and had to sign players (injuries mostly) and you’ll see it’s a very different game higher up!

CornishFan95, becoming a bit of a theme you asking for changes at Penryn? You after the job cos you seem to watch them home and away more than I do!? 🤔 But obviously not as a supporter? You commented after the Sticker game last Saturday, nothing after the 4-1 win at Penzance in midweek, then another comment after yesterday’s Newquay game! I’m 520 miles away so can’t comment on yesterday myself, but with the same manager, quite a few of the same core of players this team in the last 6 years since I’ve watched them regularly have won the Trelawny Premier league, got promoted then went on to win the combo league, combo league cup and evely cup. Got promoted again and won the St.Piran league cup and were clear top of the west division as well when the season got null and voided. Got promoted AGAIN and are now holding their own and competing in the SWPL, the top level of Cornish football and are currently above the bottom 5 despite having 3 points deducted for poor old Port which I would consider another success in their first season at this level. Think the manager and players deserve massive praise and credit myself looking at where they’ve come from and where they are now all in 6 years!!! Be interested to know where you think better players or managers will come from at this level seeing they’re not getting paid, they play for their manager, mates and the club. If you can bring in lads who do a better job than that over the next 6 seasons good luck to you!! This is just my opinion of course!!! 😁👍⚽️

If you watch and grew up in penryn , you’ll remember where this club was before this fella came in , where he’s got the clubs a million miles away from where they were. Are they in a position to go and get top end players in this league yet , probably not but the manager and players there are more than good enough to cope in this league they’ll finish between 10th and 15th if they stay together and that’s a decent enough first season .

I would agree with Rappo on this topic. I have also watched Penryn play several times this season ( including yesterday’s game against Newquay) and would say that, on the whole, they have competed well against some very good teams . The first season in this league was always going to be difficult but  Penryn have some good players and I feel that if they can continue to work together as a team , not let things unravel and continue to try to play the football that they know they can then they should have a decent first season

Think a Wadebridge pitch from pre levelling (not far off an old Chard Town), an entrance not unlike Millbrook, and an overhang built in by turnstile which was Unitarian. Add in breeze block perimeters with Kimberley style perimeter walls only lower- yup a funny ground.
Friendly locals mind. All 70 odd of them.

Yeah thanks, Penryn were away yesterday though 🤔 I’m not concerned to be honest, I think they’re doing quite well and have competed in every game I’ve watched, even at Falmouth creating 5 or 6 decent chances against a top side. Think they all realised they’re not used to losing and would have to do that quite a bit in this league this season, maybe judge them at the end of their first season at this standard? No, been watching them for 6 seasons quite regularly, Jack played for Carharrack at 16 in his first ever match and season in men’s football when they won the Trelawny Premier league and loved it there with a lot of the same lads and manager 🏆👍⚽️ But this is a forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, just not about referees decisions it appears!! 😂

    Penryn (Jeffery X2, Jay X2, Roberts X 2, Cooke X2) 8-2  Goonhavern
Another decent game at Kernick & well worth the £2 the 21 fans paid, braved the rain in the 1st half & were rewarded with bright sunshine for the 2nd half.
Penryn started the brighter & scored the opener after 10 mins when the brilliant Kyle Cooke skinned his man & was hacked down for a pen, which skipper Glen Jeffery drilled home. Goonies pulled 1 back when stand in Ryn keeper threw the ball to the opposition attacker, who whipped a ball in, & after several missed chances to clear was drilled in by sturgess. Ryn made it 2 when Martyn Jay connected well from a Lewis Pellow corner. The 3rd came shortly after when Cooke was again brought down & Jeffery placed it in the same corner giving the Goonhavern keeper no chance. Against the run of play the away team made it 3-2 when their skipper took down a clearance from the Ryn keeper, before clipping in from the half way line. Ryn made it 4-2 before ht when Jason Roberts cut in from the left & lashed in from the near stick.
    Ht 4-2
2nd half started as the 1st ended with Ryn on top,  & made it 5 when Jay got on the end of another corner. Ryn made it 6 when Roberts robbed the defender & again banged 1 at the near post. Penryn made it 7 when Kyle Cooke, who had ran the defence ragged all day, got the goal which his performance had deserved, heading home from a corner. Ryn saved the best till last when Cooke cut in from the left & drove into the top bin from 30 yards.
Goonhavern weren't as bad as the score suggests, they fought till the end & made a game of it. Best of luck for the season & look forward to the return game at Reen Manor Park, where I played my 1st season on South Western League football back in 2006. Great club.

Best Ref for me Paul Windle with mention in dispatches for big George Pattison, Derek Fox, Simon Berryman, Andre Howes & Paul Murphy......to be fair even though I have the odd bitch & moan and occasional feeling of purgatory they are all pretty good at what they do as I know that I would defo muck up loads of decisions if I did it!!! .........just forgot to mention Neil Rudkin is an amazing ref probably the best in the navy and the southwest and the reason I'm saying that has got absolutely no way whatsoever anything to do with the fact we've got him down St Just this weekend :-)
