  1. At present, it would not make any sense Bodmin looking to take promotion as Cornwall Council (not Bodmin Town Council) want to build a new link road through the carpark and Clubhouse.I get the feeling certain Town Councillors are for this as it has been mentioned that they would find an alternative site for the Football Club.Sainsburys have already (18 months ago) contacted the Council re building on the land that is currently the two football pitches. It was turned down at the time but with the Council looking to sell Public Buildings to raise money you have to be concerned. The Public Rooms in Bodmin is the first they are looking to get rid of and the old gymnasium at Walker Lines is being offered to the local Boxing Club, although they agreed a price for the building which was accepted by the Club it seems they have now put extra clauses in which would give them a share in any profit should the Club ever re-sell the building in the future. I cannot see Bodmin Town Council providing the Football Club with a ground up to the standard of CSWL let alone Western League standard. At the moment this is only at the Planning stage and hundreds of people turned out in force last week to protest about losing the towns "Green Areas", so nothing is definate.Bodmin Town F.C. cannot really do any forward planning until the proposal is voted on by the Town Council.
  2. Here we go again going off topic, the old chestnut about moving leagues has nothing to do with this thread.Every year we get the same complaints where ever the Final is,cant please everyone and never will.
  3. Had the pleasure of working with Reg when he came to manage Bodmin,he was from the old school and was a true Gentleman. He always had a smile on his face and a witty comment. One of his famous sayings when things were going against him was " I think I must have killed a robin to get this much bad luck". He came to a club that had only 4/5 players after the previous manager had left and had to build a new squad on a very shoestring budget, hence when the team was short he would pull on a shirt. He scored two goals in the Senior Cup one year against St.Dominick at Priory Park and they were two peaches shooting home from outside the box he was 42 at the time but was running around like a man half his age!He was assisted by Barrie Stephens from Torpoint another lovely bloke who put in a lot of time and effort into the Club, this was years before there was a Clubhouse and after many Home games we would drive to Bugle F.C. for a team pint!! Although the team were struggling at the bottom of the League and not getting many results, his players would give him everything and what they lacked in skill they certainly made up for with effort. Met him a few times after he had finished with football and he was just the same, with that cheeky grin! R.I.P. Reg, Condolences to his family.
  4. Locallad,After coming on here last year and run Bodmin down, you decide to come back again this year and tell us all how good they are.Your first two posts regarding Bodmin's chances this year, put them under no pressure at all!!!!!It appears that you know very little according to one of their players who has probably come on here in disbelief of your comments. You then come back and confirm that you actually live in Birmingham although you "is good friends with most of the Bodmin squad" and then inform us that you "here Bodmin have a very good young side."With a mate like you, they certainly dont need any enemies!Think you should go and watch a local team in your own area,at least that way you wont be able to cause Bodmin or yourself anymore embarrassment!!!!
  5. Locallad,I apologise,I did make an error with my post, but at least you are now answering in lower case so thats a start! It is good to see members of a club having so much confidence in their team, but the last thing you want to do is come on here telling us all how good the team are going to be when you have played one game. You have certainly made things easy for your opponents team talk,as stated by telithowitis in a previous reply to you.It is easy to come on here and tell the World how good you are going to be,but if you dont do so well it makes you look really stupid.Better to say nowt and let your results do the talking surely?Nothing better than putting pressure on a young lad in his first season by telling us how good he is going to be,it is a big step from Youth football and he will need time to get used to the stronger side of Senior football.I have in the past seen good young players being pushed too much, early in their career and it doesn't do them any favours having extra pressure put on them.If he is that good, get Bodmin to put him forward for County Youth trials, they are building a new side this year. Have a good season.
  6. Locallad,I hope that the team do a better job on the pitch than you do with your spelling and grammer. Its no wonder Bodmin Town F.C.take some much stick from their rivals with postings like yours, surely its best to keep quiet and do the talking on the pitch?I wish Bodmin Town(1st&2nds) all the best for the coming season and hope the results speak for themselves at the end of the season.
  7. Back to the original topic, when was the head count done?I know that the gates are sometimes not manned after about 30 mins so anyone coming into the ground after that wouldn't be counted.Add to this children getting in free and as reported earlier Officials from both Clubs,League and County your numbers soon rise above the number who actually pay to watch the match.Just an observation.
