  1. Redruth United are looking for players 35+ who would be interested in playing football in the Cornwall Veterans League this season. There are so many players out there 35+ who no longer play due to work, family and other commitments yet would still like the odd game when available. Games are played on a Sunday morning and are usually every couple of weeks. There is absolutely no commitment needed, in short if you are available and fancy a run out we can accommodate you. If you are interested please either contact the club through it's Facebook page HERE or message me through the Cornish Football Forum. What have you got to lose apart from a morning shopping with the wife or girlfriend 😂
  2. Match day is roll on roll off subs with a maximum squad of 16 of which 5 players can be 35 to 40 years of age and the rest must be 40+ years of age.
  3. Redruth United have football for most age groups and we are now trying to put together a Vet’s team (35 years of age and over). We are not looking for any huge commitment, but we are looking to fulfill every fixture. This is a fantastic opportunity for those of you who either want to carry on playing into your twilight years or for those of you who simply fancy a bit of a run out once every few weeks. It does not matter if you have played for Redruth United before or not because everyone is welcome to what is fast becoming a big family club. For those of you with children we also have a fantastic opportunity for you to get them involved as we have several youth teams who are always on the lookout for players just as we do with our two men’s teams. If you would like to know more and are interested, please do not hesitate to get in touch via our Facebook page or message me for more information.

  9. I am never quite sure why people even mention the word underdog? It is a game of football between 2 sides of which anything can happen at any given moment. Wimbledon all those years ago were classed as underdogs against a very good Liverpool side in the F.A Cup final but a will to win and team spirit and one hell of a performance they won the cup. West Ham v Arsenal 1980, West Ham were the supposed underdogs that day but again a great performance won them the cup More recently Wigan Athletic won the cup against Manchester City, Wigan supposed underdogs played there game got it right on the day and won. Back to junior football and this seasons junior cup Carharrack were favourites to win the whole thing looking at various posts on here and if i remember correctly they even posted a photo on the world wide web celebrating when they were drawn against Frogpool who they had already beaten 7-0 in a Percy Stephens cup game earlier in the season. On the day the Frogs played out of there skins so to speak and won the game 1-0 yet no one gave them a chance. The long and short of it is cup games are all about who wants it most on the day, who turns up and the 11 players on the pitch playing well as a team who will 99% of the time get the result. Good luck to all teams left in this years competition and lets just hope it is a good advert for Cornish Soccer :)
  10. Greg I do know you and know it’s typical of you to speak your mind (fair play)
  11. Bloody hell Greg straight to the point fella While I agree with what you say I do feel your statement is a little challenging so to speak, if you have no time for people wanting gossip then you should not have replied to Pointers post in the first place so it obviously rattled your cage If Matt wanted to tell everyone I am sure he would have done so and quite rightly a public forum is not the place Having played for Matt I have absolutely no doubts about his qualities as both a player and manager both of which he was good at and dedicated Redruth have always been known as a good honest and decent club, the type of club most players find enjoyable to play for Over recent years things have changed (for the better) and the club is in good shape, part of that and credit where it is due goes to Matt for the hard work he has put in Anyone who has managed a team no matter what standard will agree it is a tough and thankless job; you put yourself out every week but also put yourself in the firing line at the same time I would like to wish Matt all the best for the future and hope he still pulls on the boots occasionally simply because he is a great player
  12. willser08 I was just pointing out in my usual carm and collective manner that i was not yet a senior citizen My friends at Google assure me that you have to be at least 65 to be considered as a senior citizen Loving the match reports though fella, keep up the good work.
  13. First of all a big thank you and well done to all players who took the time out to play in the Buckley testimonial (Forum Charity Match) on Saturday making it a very special day for those involved. A huge thank you to Richard Chown, Carharrack F.C for letting us use the ground and also to all the staff at Carharrack F.C for doing the gate, refreshments etc etc, also the barbie and beer at the Carharrack social club which went down very well so thank you all for this you all worked very hard and as players I am sure everyone appreciated the work that went in. Thanks to Nick Ward for turning out a very good select side. Thank you to Liz for refereeing the game and showing no cards. I am not sure exactly how much was raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust but every little helps so well done to all involved. There were some fantastic players on show both current and retired and as usual the standard of football was top notch, even the old heads who although have lost the legs by no means have any of them lost the will to play and win. The banter both in the changing rooms and on the field of play was fantastic and exactly how it should be. All in all a fantastic day for the 3 amigo's (Darren, Alan, & Jason Buckley) and I am sure they were very pleased at the turnout. Thankfully the roll on roll of subs not only worked very well but looking at some of the older heads it was a welcome relief. :D Same again next year?
  14. Mmmmmmmm (bucket and spade will be needed here to do a little digging) but why am i getting a feeling that all is not balck and white in Trelawny 3 ?
