And where are the next generation of volunteers coming from with this attitude , you have been able to play at a higher level where most don't get that chance and good for you but , kicking lower league teams and officials is not a great reflection on yourself , Nothing wrong with grass roots football enjoyed by many , and costs time money , people but back into the game not take out , I take

    Trelawny club folded!

Sorry but why name and shame? Why does a player feel he has the god given right to be pursued by a club? This is the trouble today clubs have people working tirelessly behind the scenes to provide kit, pitches, a decent facility to play at and trying to give something back to a local community and are then looked on unfavourably because They didn’t pander to someone’s ego!....what a crock of s***! Loads of clubs advertise training and welcome with open arms new players! If you want to play get off your arse and attend one! If you don’t like it attend another one at a different club until you f

Great post Mike, a team of talented individuals is great, but moulding a proper team of players that become great mates on and off the pitch and who can play a bit as well, and stay loyal to the club they love playing for, despite better offers season after season will usually be successful in the end. I was lucky enough to be a part of such a team at Falmouth in the late eighties and early nineties, all of us even hated missing training on a Tuesday night, sitting around a big table together after a hard session sometimes for a couple of hours chatting and having a laugh usually about our end

    GAME OFF WEDNESDAY!

I know mate its shocking, had a a few clubs while I found my feet after moving down here. Managed Godolphin to a fifth place finish and senior and league cup final, then played for and coached Godolphin reserves for 2 season wining a cup, league and another promotion. Came back and helped with bits and pieces after starting working down in Dorset during the week, so been at the G now for about 5 years now. Took the managers job again as no know else come forward to do it, but has proved to much as I still work in Dorset. But yeah I get what your saying I'll try harder neat time 👍

  5. Why has OUR forum, set up to talk about Cornish football, the topic we obviously all want to discuss, been turned into an opportunity to namelessly have a go at others who are struggling or falling on difficult times? With our last season being Null and Void and us all missing the sport we love, many volunteers have worked tirelessly to get this season started and all that some want to do is jump on a bandwagon, whether its Callingtons struggles, Helstons hopes or some buffoon having a pop at the Cornish Pele!! (Rappo). Let’s give it a rest and start using the forum properly, or at least

  7. After 8 successive away games its been a hard start to The season for a VERY young Penzance Side. The 4-5 win away at Sticker on Saturday probably didn’t register much with most Cornish football fans, but it was just reward for a positive creative start to their season. Penzance were very unlucky against Bodmin, unfortunate against Liskeard, should have beaten Porthleven and have been competive in all their games. A good first 25 minutes but lack of quality in front of goal for Penzance was followed by a dismal end to the first half where Penzance went to sleep and gave the ball away f

The Liskeard strategy Is following in the same footsteps as Millbrook, where a group of players have stuck together-Falmouth are now in their 4th.season of local players and the united enthusiasm on and off the park is as strong as ever. The St.Austell reserve team of last season is now coming to fruition in the SWPL and looking around Wadebridge and Camelford have persevered to grow in status.--probably other clubs as well as it seems the new way forward is to bond and improve facilities

Scored 490 goals in the old South Western League which I played mainly in between the age of 17 and 36 which as anybody who knows Cornish football is a bit better than local Sunday League standard! Had spells at Bristol City as a schoolboy, Exeter City as a teenager and Halifax Town on trial. A combination of injuries and probably not good enough was why I played most of my football in Cornwall and Devon. People around here know what I’ve done and not done in football so don’t feel the need to explain my ambition and I presume you mean desire to “Swilly Bingrove” but thanks for the interest i

    Saltash v Parkway

Think it’s all a bit OTT! When 2 teams know each other so well these results happen! All the pressure on Parkway on the night added to that. Ryan is a quality striker who will get you 30/40 goals once he settles no danger, Matt a proven and well respected sought after coach, Hobbsy knows local football and players as well as anyone and will get his teams motivated, and I still fancy Parkway to win the league over a season and progress. Yeah shame to go out the cup early doors but ain’t a disaster apart from some half decent prize money, Parkway will be fine. Congrats to Dane and Saltash, what

  15. This is no doubt due to the rain in the last few seasons bringing the fines/silt to the surface. The net result being no air spaces in the top of the soil profile, without them grassland will retain water in the top structure of a pitch...soft slow draining will be the result. Solution, we will have to hollow core the pitch and use a silicate sand to put air spaces back into the top of the profile. Hollow coring and sanding is the only solution to this problem, vertidraining will not resolve this as the action of the vertidrain although relieving compaction does produce compacted ho

    RESULTS - Sat 10 October 2020

Seemed? If you were there you would understand the effort that went in to keep groups to no more than 6 and have table service and a one way system while everyone in masks apart from whem sitting down etc etc etc. Some groups had to sit outside yesterday so that the clubhouse wasnt over full. Someone sees a picture and theres always someone wanting to jump on it to get a medal. No wonder people dont want to do anything these days. There's always someone ready to criticise at the slightest thing.

I have to give full respect to the troop for the respectful nature they treated me and my kids. If the language got fruity, a few of the troop would apologise and pass the message along that the kids were there and to calm it... in fairness my 2 have probably heard worse at home 😂😂 and we weren't bothered, none the less much respect for that. When the guy with the drum started going he gave me fair warning for the kids so they could put their finge

The 2 players with symptoms have both been tested and they came back as negative. Great news. Following advice those with heavy colds were not required to be tested. Government guidelines state we should isolate for 10 days. We did not train this week so that ends today. We have spoken to the FA and all good to play tomorrow. So a false alarm. But in my view, the correct decision. It co

You do realise that these referees read this forum don’t you? I think it’s quite appalling that you are calling them out for their fitness levels. This isn’t the Premier League, they aren’t going to be elite athletes. Have you ever considered that some of these may not actually want to ref at SWPL level and are doing so to help the Appointments Officer out? I’m as fit as any referee in Cornwall - I smash the fitness test each year but I’m not anywhere near the best. At this level, fitness is good to have for that extra ten yard run into the corner for a turn out of the exit zone, however it’s

Not sure what is going on down there but Helston didn't have a clue our boys were to quick and first to nearly every second ball. Second half was all route one long ball from the home team no wonder there didn't seem to be many fans from Helston couldn't watch that all season. Massy doesn't seem to be very tactically aware. Or not a clue springs to mind. The team is so disjointed. Since the start of the season the St Austell player's have stepped up to the challenge a

And to hear they were buzzing when they got home is marvelous. That was my brother Donald on the drum, he buggered off to the far end for the 2nd half and gave us all a break ha ha ha . A number of us decided to stay under the roof for the 2nd half with rain expected. Remember when Dobwalls scored their 3rd goal, their players really ripped into us, loved it . But when the final whistle blew and victory was theirs

    Start of new season

That's what teachers are contracted and paid for! The amount of over time and work that teachers do unpaid behind closed doors that people like yourself wouldn't understand is massive. Teachers haven't stopped working at all. Creating and uploading lessons every day, trying to find new and imaginative ways to educate our children and support them, whilst supporting Key workers children as well. You haven't got a clue Big Al.

School teachers to get an even longer one? Is that a joke? Since lockdown started I've worked on average of 55-60 hours both in school and at home while only being contracted to 32. Please don't think teachers aren't working. I want children back in school it's a sad place with so few in.

This is in no short measure due to the efforts of Brian Tallett who was completely new to CS and worked hard to put together the application. Thanks must also go to Josh Stockdale at the CCFA for his assistance and to the clubs for maintaining their own individual awards.

It may well be very high Dave, however, youngsters these days have the retention spans of goldfish & if someone says something they don’t like or get upset by, they then go somewhere else or say they don’t want to play with a load of ruffians. The youth football set up is all well & good but it just means someone else is doing all the running around for them. Young kids wearing club tracksuits, when did I miss that. !! Everything is put on a plate for them & then when they are asked to help run a club, they are not interested. Get these kids to respect the club they are playi

Too many teams & not enough players, sponsors, committee members, supporters or general volunteers to keep the amount of teams running, sustainable. I know & appreciate what your answer will be Steve, we’ve had this conversation before, however, no one from the FA has ever been down to Cornwall to access & discuss the geographical location & issues we have here, basically, they don’t actually

  39. In my opinion, what all Clubs need is loyalty from their "local" players. Once those players are replaced by others from outside of their "normal" catchment area, they rarely return to "their" club. The only solution then is for the Club to continue to "import" players - if they can. Sad but true!

Hayle just too strong for Ludgvan all across the park - hopefully Ludgvan can recruit some new players and put an end to their recent misery which is obviously having a huge effect on confidence. I made a point of staying around after the game today to have a chat with some of the guys that work behind the scenes at Ludgvan. All of them hurting because of the struggles the club is currently facing. I really hope things can turn around for them as they're a bloody good club.

When you beat us at our place in the cup, he celebrated in my face... and yesterday during the game he was constantly throwing insults my way for the whole game, i had to chase him down just to get a handshake after the game, making gestures about the size of my nose, calling me the same this as BigBadBarry did until he deleted his comment. lets be clear...my nose is a biggun, but you should be embarrassed to have him as a part of your club! so yeah, i may have celebrated slightly over the top, but my

  43. Having played at both St Dominick and St Stephen, I don't think there's an issue with either pitch at all. Both Clubs are ran superbly and credit to Coady and the boys for getting the area in a top condition for the Youth boys coming through. I, for one, know how hard it is to run a Football Club at this level. We're (Torpoint) extremely lucky with the volunteers we have at our Club to enable 3 sides to play at The Mill. We do, however, have Horson as a 2nd pitch if required. The work that goes in off the field by the Council and volunteers from the Club and the Youth is second to none. S

Ha ha, Orders from whom? Been quiet because all this vitriol towards Helston Football Club is both tiresome and unwarranted. Is it really such a crime for an individual to spend his money how he sees fit? Who is it hurting? The way some of the idiots on here go on about Mr Massey and his players, you would think they were Jimmy Saville reincarnated. I get he is not everyone's cup of tea but some of the conjecture and comments are no better than a Disney script.
