  1. Past hour
  2. Falmouth/Bridgwater favourites for me, with Falmouth to nick it - am i right in thinking play off final at Falmouth due to finishing 2nd?
  3. Rumours are Hobbs 'stepping down' at end of season, Parkway want Cusack manager and Carlo to stay as assistant
  4. Congratulations to Penzance on a very good season. Let's hope that they can keep their side together and maybe make a few improvements for next season. A club with great history and an iconic ground and they deserve some success.
  5. Today
  6. As much as I/we would be sad to see them go as we have great links between our clubs- Clevedon could be the surprise here. They've been under estimated all season and here they are in the play offs.
  7. Tough that . All 4 of them on their day can beat each other. Falmouth need to find some form. Barnstaple on back of a very heavy loss last night. Clevedon seem hot and miss I would say Bridgewater favourites for me.
  8. Falmouth are who I want to win it. Good for Cornish football, keeps the debate "lively" on this forum and also upsets the Southern League clubs who will have to make another trip to West Cornwall. The downside though is that it will further devalue the Cornwall Cup (a good chance the holders will not be able to defend their title next season). Bridgwater are hitting form at the right time though, and how many times in football do the top ranked sides in the final league table miss out in the play offs.
  9. It would seem unfair to expect the League to take the FA to make huge changes but rather with support from local teams / clubs could make necessary noise through club statements or press coverage / social media etc especially considering the amount of work behind the scenes of the exceptional volunteers, groundsman/women, as well as the risk to players with unnecessary amount of games being played (many whom have full time jobs and families). A more of a stand together cause as a collective and support the league sending the message to the FA. Just a thought.
  10. So what exactly are you suggesting should be done? The Western League, Peninsula League and St Piran Premier Divisions all come under the Leagues Committee at the FA. Strong and repeated representations were made into that body and to those who sit above it. Representations have also been made (by St Piran) through Cornwall FA to the Regional Manager who is also very supportive and is taking it forward. I have little doubt that the conversations will continue after the season is concluded as the poor communication and lack of understanding of the difficulties encountered this season must not be repeated.
  11. As a good club should for Calli, help the young lads get some experience. Why would anyone play at Altarnun's pitch when you have your fortress at North Petherwin, Nick? 🤣
  12. Callington 1s were playing last night and seems their 2s have benefited recently with utilising players so not surprised Nuns got a result. The return of Charlie Wevill for Nuns adds pace and strength to the attack which was needed, seems they are already planning for next season given the messages my lads have had from their new gaffer 😒
  13. Falmouth,Clevedon ,Bridgwater or Barnstaple to be promoted that is the question.who is your choice to be victorious and why?
  14. I think your interpretation on venting is sadly off the mark, I am highlighting inadequacies of the FA and limitation of the league to make any impact on change. The idea of a forum is to have opinions under any pseudonym, as you clearly have yours. Ultimately what you are saying is that it is ok for the FA to incur multiple games in order to get the season completed, and we should be grateful we are not in other districts where the regime is harsher! Slight narcissism there, uncovering the epitome of 'our beautiful game' is then really a sham. Einstein must of had it wrong when he said the measure of intelligence is the ability to change.
  15. PENZANCE 2 TRURO CITY RESERVES 1 The Magpies became the second team to complete their fixtures (after Bude Town), recording a third straight win to soar to a season’s high position of seventh and sign off on a thoroughly satisfactory campaign. Taylor McNally had an early chance for Truro but was thwarted by an excellent block from Will Trenoweth. Thereafter, Penzance were in the ascendency. Michael Fitchett, Mark Vercesi and Ollie Butler all went close before the deadlock was broken in the 13th minute. A James Butler corner from the left was cleared only as far as Vercesi who smashed the ball home via a deflection. Another flag kick almost handed a goal to Vercesi’s centre-back partner, but Liam Andrew was unlucky to see his far post header come back off the woodwork. Truro were then reduced to ten players, Paul Turpin seeing red for chopping down last man Charlie Willis. Penzance capitalised almost immediately, Willis playing a delightful one-two with Ollie Butler before dinking the ball past Morgan Jones to extend the lead. Alfie Turner tested Jones with a shot straight after the restart, but thereafter Penzance were limited to just one more effort from distance – a piledriver by Jacob Trudgeon that fizzed just past the post. Orchestrated by the veteran Ian Gosling in midfield, City’s ten men bossed the second half. They reduced the arrears fifteen minutes from time when Fin Harrison cut in from the right flank and despatched a fine left foot shot. The Magpies were indebted to a good save by Trenoweth from Gosling right at the death for their fourth away win of the season (though staged at Penlee Park, this was Truro’s home fixture). “First half we were fantastic. We controlled that - some of the stuff we played was great,” said manager Ashley Waters afterwards. “Second half we looked like the side with ten men. Credit to them – they came at us and we lost our energy levels. But we’ve learned so much this season. The players have been incredibly respectful and bought into what Matt James and I are trying do.” Penzance: Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds (Charlie Palmer 70), Alfie Turner (Adam Lewis 57), Mark Vercesi, Liam Andrew, James Butler (Gareth Ireson-Ward 79), Ollie Butler, Silas Sullivan, Michael Fitchett, Darryl Richards (Jacob Trudgeon 43), Charlie Willis (Ewan Trevains 75) Truro: Morgan Jones, Reuben Chant, Eagan Fabby, Owen Rosevear, Teddy Horton, Paul Turpin, Ian Gosling, Jordan Moyle, Fin Harrison, Taylor McNally, Dan Carne. Subs: Ben Shaw, Josh Marcellis, Gabe Turpin, Harvey Frape, Harvey Richards Referee: Nigel D’Arcy Assistants: Alan Hoon, Stuart Bowden Attendance: 103
  16. Match report 🏆 Wendron 4ths 5-8 St Erme For the final time this season the saints travelled down to Wendron for the last game of the season, in what is a must win for Wendron who held the current relegation spot. With nothing to play for, the saints wanted to end the season on a high with 3 points. The saints started the game with Dan in goal , a back four of Jared, Craig ,cam and sol with Kyle and sam in midfield, Cain and Freddie on the flanks with Thierry and Brandon up top. The saints started well with creating a lot of chances with Freddie playing in Thierry multiple times but the pass was too hard for Thierry to reach the end of it. The saints eventually went ahead when Freddie found his weight of pass when he played Thierry who went through on goal to make it 1-0. Straight from kick off the saints had the ball in the back of the net again when the wendron goalkeeper was closed down by Brandon and has hit off him a loop back over the keeper and into the back of the net. With the saints dominating they looked to be in control of the game but with playing out from the back wendron forced the saints into a mistake where they misplaced a pass that found the wendrons players feet who got his shot off from outside which flew into the top corner. The saints continued to play out from the back and work it well when Jared delivered a great cross to Brandon who was able to find some space to get his shot off into the bottom corner. Wendron again reduced the deficit when a free kick was swung in to the back post where the wendron player was unmarked for a free header which found the back of the net. With Freddie being in acres all first half and causing his full back problems with linking up with Brandon and sol on the left flank, Freddie soon got his goal with some good wing play where he cut in and managed to find the bottom corner . The saints went into half time 4-2 up, looking comfortable at times and dangerous going forward just two sloppy goals to have conceded. The saints made one change with Jake coming on and cam going off. The saints started very well and extended their lead when a mistake from the wendron defender was punished by Brandon who made no mistake in finding the net. A couple minutes the saints added another with a well worked goal when a couple of quick passes broke the wendron defence with a pass from Brandon who lead theirry through who placed it past the goalkeeper. Wendron never gave up and pulled one back the midfielder was afforded to much space and managed to find the bottom corner from his shot. Wendron added another soon after a cross found its way to back stick where the winger was there to tap home making it 6-4. With it the game becoming quite open the saints made it 7-4 when Cain got a shot on the edge of the box which was perfectly placed into the bottom corner. Wendron hit back yet again when the winger beat his man and got his shot off which found the back of the net. The saints made another two changes with Alan and alistair both coming on. The saints added to the lead again when Jake B who was brilliant out on the wing in the second half found Brandon who made no mistake in finishing. Being the last game everyone from the bench got a run out even our two managers Ian and Nigel both coming on up front. Ian was dancing his way around defenders and pulling off back heel passes, the game nearly ended with Nigel getting on the scoresheet after a goalmouth scramble but couldn’t get it over the line, but wasn’t meant to be , but what a sight to see and fully deserved with everything they do for this club. The game did eventually end 8-5 to the saints in the last game of the season not the best performance but 3 points to end off. MOTM- Brandon M, scored 4 great goals, linked up with his teammates around him and getting an assist. All the best to wendron with there remaining game. That’s it for the season with us currently sitting 6th but could change with teams still having games left to play. What a season it’s been from conceding 20 goals in our first two matches we have improved massively over the course of the season and will look to take that into next season and build from there. We would look to thank everyone for the continued support, our Sponsors, players, coaches, fans and we look forward to seeing you all next season ❤️ 3MS Tolcarne Campsite Sophie’s Den The Boathouse #upthesaints❤️
  17. If you are as passionate about it as you say you are, would it not be wiser to contact the league directly rather than "vent" on a forum under a pseudonym? The SWPL (and the St Pirans League) have constantly been in contact with the FA and the NLS since the beginning of the year and tried everything under the sun to get them to listen to us but everything has fallen on deaf ears. You only need to look on twitter and in the press to see that near on every league in the country have tried the same and have received the same response from them. And other stories that have come to light lately have only highlighted the fact that the FA do what they want regardless! Colne in the Northern League are playing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday next week so the SWPL has performed miracles in the last few months to try and fit all the games in by the deadline and prevent clubs from having to play on consecutive days
  18. A bigger budget than most mid table sides would help with that too Rob.
  19. Big turnaround in fortunes for Altarnun in St Piran East Prem. 5 wins and a draw in the last 6 has propelled them well clear of their original bottom place. Well done to them for their late renaissance. And a few shockers last night as well. Wouldn't have had Sticker beating St Austell 4-0 or St Blazey beating Foxhole 1-0 in Div 1. Has that cleared the way for St Minver to win the title? And Bude being held at Gunnislake in Div 3.
  20. No bitterness I watched the game and the better team lost. As I say champions will find a way so congratulations 👏
  21. So to be clear I am not suggesting they are doing nothing as the League acts independently within regions. I am disputing more could be done to challenge the FA on those 'make it happen' statements. The FA are committed to promoting and supporting football at all levels and should be taken to task in my opinion. At local levels there is a genuine passion and commitment which often shapes football pathways; I wouldn't want the League to set themselves up to fail, but I know the football community would stand and support Phil (a well respected stalwart) and collectively challenge the FA should it be needed!
  22. Holsworthy 0-2 Liskeard Athletic St Dennis 1-5 AFC St Austell Falmouth Town 3-1 Newquay Millbrook 0-1 St Blazey
  23. Congratulations to Matt, Mass & everybody at Helston 👏⚽🏆🍾 Also, a very well done to the other Cornish teams, acquitting themselves so well in such a demanding league. A special mention to everyone at Millbrook, putting in a hell of a shift, showing real togetherness & fighting spirit to put a team out & finish the season, when nobody gave them a hope in hell! All best to Westy & Co. Let's hope they can make it 2 up from the duchy 🤞⚽
  24. What's this Phil? Could you share a link if you have one please.
  25. Ah I thought I heard the music from The Magic Roundabout start up! Talking about next season already as a club - budgets, ambitions, kit and with the clubhouse refurbishment in full swing I'm hopeful for a quieter summer! Well I was until the FA sprung their new system for player registration late yesterday. More learning!
  26. Congratulations to Helston. When are the play off's due to be played?
  27. Get in there! 💛🖤 Congratulations to everyone involved with St Day, they thoroughly deserve this. I can't wait to see Vogue Park under lights ⚽🍾🏆
