Managerial Mistakes

Since the top of the table clash has been settled thought it would be worth pointing out that the best team did not win on saturday, it was the best manager that one it.

perranwell have the best attacking force ive seen at this level, honestly i even think just as good as truro last season maybe even better, the proplem is there defence and goalkeeper are far from good enough and u could see peranporth exploited this by having 9 men behind the ball all the time and hitting on the counter, isolating perranwells defenders giving the perranporth forwards space to run at them, perranwell should of sacrificed a midfielder and put him at the back.

Hats off to the perranporth manager his tactics were well set and worked a treat and with no responce from the perranwell management there was only one outcome even if all the last ten mins were in the perranporth half, it alwys looked like perranporth would score when they got in the danger areas, yet perranwell would need to make 20 chances to score one, again management won the day not the best team. as will be the story at the end of the season. well done perranporth :clapper:

I agree should of put mike brewer or scot king as a sweeper that would of sorted the defence right out :o

any team no matter how good would need to create lots of chances to score wen 9 men are behind the ball, im not taking anything away from perranporth they are a top team, but definetly targeted a slow defence and shocking keeper. they played counter attack football they could not compete in football terms.

I watched the game Saturday & although it was a good game played in difficult conditions I did think Perranwell's keeper looked a little suspect at times.....Perranwell should have scored in the last 15 of the first half after lots of possesion & creating some good chances but Porth had the better of the second half & but there wasn't a lot between both sides. I also think the tactics went out of the window when the rain came down.

I think we're playing Porth this Saturday......better stay off the wine friday night.

I played in sats game and i certainly didn't feel that Perranporth put 9 men behind the ball.As for the game

i hought it was a entertainig game and a good advert for the league, shame we lost. For saying the best manager won on the day is a big misjudgement and Gossie &Rusty would be the first to say that the

Well deserved something from the game, one game doesn't make a season!!

Hey jamthebest as well as one of the amigos leaving i'm not sure what planet your on and stop stirring up

crap. :SM_carton: :SM_carton:

Well i played under Dave's management for lot's of years and not always with medals!

And i never played for another team so as for what other managers do with their tactics!!

i wouldn't know but as reading this post i would like to say that what some muppet on here should

say about the game on saturday is a load of b..ocks!! We saw a good fair game and a draw would have been a fair result really, but that's football not tactics!!

What would the tactics be if the ££ were not there? ( I know and so do you  )

But well done to both teams as it was good to watch in the conditions! I think that Perran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will win the league

And as for rumours well lets leave that off here please :SM_carton:

Well following on from all the chat about the match ,,,, the new boss of PerranPORTH said,,, if they dont beat PerranWELL,,,,,, on a flat pitch,,,,no wind and rain,,,,,, by at least 5v2 then he would be lookin for a new manager/captain/player so any club after Gossey watch for that result !!!!!!!!!!! and despite all the money payed out to one team,,,, the other team played all the football and did not revert to tackels that could,, result in injury to an apponant,,,,,, well played perranwell you atleast deserved a draw ,, if not all points ..

So Vinny your back with words of wisdom I see. You appear to be claiming the Well do not pay any players, mmmm! And you also seem to feel hard done by about a few tackles flying in, this I can understand because the Well have never had anyone, especially a family, who like to put in tackles that may injure an opponent have they? It was a top of the table clash so of course there will be hard challenges going in thats what folks would want to see and Im sure the players would expect it. You are the only person to mention anything about rough treatment, even big no. 5 didnt and he played. Chill out Mr Jones the whole world is not ganging up on Perranwell!!

I did not see the game but surely a person with the pedigree of Dave Fisher does not become a bad manager overnight the guy has been a legend in the Combination League.

I think - for what it is worth that Perranwell will be there or thereabouts when the title is decided in May. Obviously with the talent at Perranporth's disposal they will have a big say in the title destination.

You've hit the nail on the head,Graham.

Dave Fisher's record over the years speaks for itself with the trophies that have been won with the man at the helm.

By losing one game, albeit against your closest title rival, that does not make you a bad manager. The game was always going to be a closely fought affair with little margin for error.Perranporth came out on top and well done to them.If the result had gone the other way, would fingers have been pointed at Gossy and Rusty? There is a hell of a long way to go in the league yet!

I wouldn't want to be involved with a team facing Perranwell over the next few weeks because Dave will have his team spot on.

Why are we still going on about Dave Fisher and his so called mistakes, the bloke is a legend and sure he

doesn't know much about tactics after being in charge for 30 + years and winning numerous trophies

along the way.As for the challenges Vinnie its part and parcel of the game and we committed a few fouls aswell which warranted a yellow. Again well done to Perranporth they got the points BUT there'salong way to go yet.!!!!! ;)

I HAVE TO SAY AFTER READING ALL THESE OPINIONS ON THIS SUBJECT,I REALLY THINK SOME PEOPLE ON THIS SITE HAVNT GOT A CLUE.FOR ONE ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT CORNISH FOOTBALL AND ITS HISTORY SHOULD KNOW THAT DAVE FISHERS RECORD AS A MANAGER STANDS UP TO ANYONES END OF STORY AND FOR PEOPLE TO QUESTION HIS TACTICS,YOUR HAVING A LAUGH.SECONDLY BY ALL ACCOUNTS SATURDAYS GAME WAS A GREAT ADVERT FOR THE COMBO,PLAYED BETWEEN TWO VERY GOOD SIDES,THE MONEY FACTOR WILL ALWAYS COME INTO THE ARGUMENT BUT THATS LIFE,DONT THINK IVE EVER HEARD OF A PLAYER OUT THERE REFUSE THE MONEY IF ITS OFFERED,WHO WOULD?.MY FINAL POINT BEING THIS IS COMBO FOOTBALL AT THE END OF THE DAY AND I THINK SOME PEOPLE NEED TO REMEMBER THIS,JUST THINK SOME OUR WATCHING TO MUCH SKY SPORTS NEWS ETC.PERRANPORTH WILL WIN THE LEAGUE END OF STORY AND SO THEY SHOULD WITH THE SQUAD THEY HAVE,HAVNT SEEN A SQUAD LIKE THERES SINCE I WAS AT CAMBORNE LIONS WITH GOZZY,RULER,HARRINGTON AND CO.

I don't think Gossie will be too worried about that Vinnie. The committee makes the decisions at Perranporth not the "boss" :D

The thing about managers is, the wrong one can screw up a team's performance no matter how good the players thoughtfully assembled for him. Dave Fisher has consistently taken players from junior football and got the best out of them. Teams like Goonhavern and Mousehole recently showed how good understanding and teamwork can eclipse teams of big time charlies.

While Perranporth are winning, Gozzy :yahoo: is probably doing okay. I bet there are some individuals who, parachuted into Perranporth at this moment, could do a very effective job of handing the league championship to somebody else !

Smile while you're winning, guys ! Nothing lasts for ever !

The Tinners are coming..........

Speedy - I think the game at Newquay demonstrated that passion, determination (and a bit of local competition) can allow 'lesser' teams to compete with those that have access to more resources.

Points will be dropped between now and the end of the season, I dare say there will be a few more surprises as we get nearer to the 'business end'... Perranporth have a great side and are a decent group of lads. Perranwell have some of the most talented individuals I have seen this season are are also a top bunch of guys. The way I see it, the expectation on Perranwell isn't quite as great, which allows them to churn out decent results. I'm looking forward to the return fixture, I hope we haven't got a game!

PS. Every side at the top seems to drop points against St Ives, it must have something to do with 'Fortress Saltings'!

Yes but isn't the 'BOSS' the chairman of the perranporth commitee/club, and dosn't the chairman always have the final say?

The way I understand it the Chairman of any committee has the casting vote only, anything else would be a dictatorship not a democracy

Being a Perranporth follower I'd like to make a few comments. First off all, money might buy players, but it doesn't make them win. If they win, its the best team on the day! The lads of Perranporth are a great bunch, and dedicated to football. Its been a pleasure to have Gossy, Rusty and the rest of the lads join the Club but I believe that they are out there to win fair and square. Its their effort and dedication to playing football, most importantly, they are a 'team'! Money hasn't got anything to do with how they perform on the day!!

As for the comment about the 'boss', Perranporth owe alot to him. They would not have the facilities or funding that they have today with out him.Whats the saying ' don't bite off the hand that feeds you'? There are alot of level headed people at Perranporth, the main, want whats best for the Club, but theres a few that need to keep their own personnal grievances, to themselves!, without putting stupid comments on here! :)

I hope that last comment isn't aimed at me Cornish Pixie as any personal grievances I may hold are just that - personal. I consider myself one of the people who has Perranporth's best interests at heart and although our Chairman has facilitated many of the changes at the club over the past few years please do not make the mistake of thinking that the Club hasn't paid more than its fair share of the costs of those changes. As anyone involved in Cornish Football will tell you people give what they can to their club be that money, time, equipment, administrational assistance or professional expertise; most clubs would be lost without that and all clubs, Perranporth included, are grateful for whatever comes their way. Fortunately the hand that feeds Perran does not feed me.

I notice you are not using you real name on here and assume you will be posting at some point in the "Introduce Yourself" thread in the main discussion board in order to inform us all of your true identity.

At yet I see you still haven't introduced yourself cornish pixie. We all gave up playing the "guess who I am in real life" game ages ago luv :glare:

Im not playing the "guess who I am in real life" Ronin. You jumped to the conclusion I was talking about you when I mentioned about grudges at Perranporth. Stop kidding yourself luv! If the cap fits where it. Your no angel by a long shot!!! :P

Totally agree Rappo, Unfortunately I never really played under Dave only when he selected me for the Combo select team on several occasions. I have full admiration for him, always conducts himself well on and off the pitch and has a knack of getting his point over where some managers I have played under struggle, not a huge ranter but has a great knowledge of the game and his love and commitment towards Perranwell is unquestionable. So some advice for any individual that plays under Dave would be just LISTEN!!!!!

good morning all, this is my first post on here.I am not a perranporth supporter, but i do enjoy good games, i have watched perranporth play several times, i gota admit, they are brilliant!! They play as a team and i hope they win the league.

No way can money make them play better, its having the right people to play, but money cant do everything, yes it can help nd support the club, but it cant make men better players.

Its the dedication and hard work from the players. That will get perranporth top of the league.

Good on you perranporth. :smiley20:

Ive never been involved in your league but cant understand the comments about this manager. From how it looks he is a very successfull manager and to slate him over one game is schoolboyish!!! Fergie didnt become crap overnight from the result at Anfield!!!! And thats coming from a Red!!!

Get of his back!!!
