ECPL ROLL ON ROLL OFF SUBS

Recommended Posts

It’s not a merger though really - there will be a new Step 7 League for season 2019/20, with the ECPL and CCL below that as Step 8 leagues. Whether some of the league’s sides decide to go up to the Step 7 League with some also from the current SWPL  is the interesting part.

Already  in use in the combo   for a couple of seasons ,  gets more players involved and doesn't hold up play as the ref has the numbers before the game  , ideal to replace a player who is say getting over enthusiastic  , he can be taken off and the manager can calm him down and put him on later , been a good idea  and hope it stays .

I personally don’t like the idea. As for a player getting ‘over enthusiastic’ if he gets wound up that much on the pitch he needs to come off to cool down for his and other players own safety he has some serious issues and shouldn’t be on the pitch anyway and the manager should let him get sent, or drag him.

Rob meant as an example  , I think you will find when first brought in many were sceptical  about how long it would take for changes but it hasn't  slowed the game down  if you are so against it the club's need to say No , but in my personal opinion  it works , if your league agrees to it and you don't like the idea there is nothing stopping you from using your subs as normal  or as your manager sees fit , a plus side is you can give younger players a feel for the adult game  but if they are getting pushed around a bit you can take them off and get a chance to talk to them and bring them on later  , but it is your league  you get to decide  , opinions  is what keeps football alive .

roll on and roll off subs is a terrible idea . its not kids football or 5 aside . this is meant to be senior football .

so you could pick up an early yellow card . take that player off but then chuck him on again with 20 to go save him getting sent off . ridicules

Unfortunately not senior football any more - anything below step 7 is “recreational” football.

even so a lot of the young players will look to progress to senior football and not ideal only getting 60 mins a game etc on a weekend . can see alot of players not happy with that all season

i get your trying to give everyone a game but surly its about playing your best players and keeping your squad small

Roll on roll off will help introduce and  youngsters and retain the older players, at a time when many clubs are struggling for numbers. Some will be against it, some will see the benefits. As I see it, if the league doesn’t move with the times it will be on its last legs in 12 months’ time.  At the rate we are going there will be one division of 12-14 clubs left

Having seen this in action for a season or two here are the benefits....

easy to make tactical changes without taking a player off for the whole game

if a player gets a knock you can bring him off get treatment and if feels better later in game bring him on again

if a player has put a 60 minute shift in and needs a rest, bring him off, refuel and he can go back on again later in game.

giving more players a game is not a benefit that is just wasting peoples time.

also this is being brought in for step 7 and below.....if people don’t like it then two options, vote against it or play a better standard of football.

no one likes change.....look at goal line technology, VAR, offside rule, no backpass and if go all the way back no subs!!!!!!

if it was that much of a good change why has it not been put in place at all levels of the game ?

It is a good change for local amateur football.....the low standard we are talking about. And if you are trying to use the “all levels of the game” when is your club getting VAR ???

Everyone at the duchy agm couple seasons back had same concerns... it had worked really well.  No reason why it can't work well a step higher.  Still recreational football, players still need to think of work etc without being pressed to play on with injury just because subs already used up.
