With both sides entering the fixture off of weekend Cup games a league victory was key. Torpoint keen to make amends for the Cup Final defeat to St Stephens and Lostwithiel to carry their form from their win over St Cleer. A nervy start to the game for both sides soon saw Lostwithiel capitalise on a Torpoint mistake with a very well taken chip from their striker. This kicked Torpoint into action with the treat coming from the wide areas. Both Ferguson and Rosevear saw good chances saved by the opposing keeper. Torpoint soon leveled the score with a deflected free kick from top goal-scorer Robbins. Entering the break, both sides would've been looking at missed opportunities.

With the second half starting, Torpoint soon began to take more control. Finding neat passes from front to back a goal was always going to come. Some strong pressing from Torpoint resulted in Ferguson closing down the opposing defenders and slotting away for his first of the game. His second came soon after with good build up play from the right hand side. The introduction of West from the bench saw some nice one, two passing for Ferguson's hat-trick. To end an outstanding 30 minute second half display Ferguson found his forth of the evening before being given a round of applause on his departure to the bench. Lostwithiel did manage to pull one back with a loss of concentration from Torpoint, a well placed finish found its way passed Westall into the bottom left hand corner.

A nice response from Torpoint after the weekend's disappointment as they move up the table and look forward to the trip to North Petherwin at the weekend. Both sides will meet again in the coming weeks in the Quarter Final of the Cup.
